I've been taking it on the advice of a natural practitioner. (I had a laboratory test that said I was deficient in it.)
She told me to take 10 mg/day and no more.
I got 25 mg capsules (this is the smallest I could find - others were 100 mg) and decided that I would just take one a day to make life easier.
After taking it...I felt great! I had tons of energy, my skin was glowing, and I THINK I might have gained some muscle mass.
I ALSO gained 10 pounds in under 2 weeks! Apparently, this happens to some people when they take too much DHEA. (I was also having some other side effects of too much DHEA, like headaches) (To be fair, I don't know if it was 10 pounds of fat, muscle, water, or some other substance; however, I do know it was 10 pounds of something which was alarming.)
Now that I learned my lesson... I am taking 10 mg a day (splitting the capsule) and my weight is dropping back down.
The moral of the story: If you take DHEA, be sure you don't take too much!
How have everyone else's experiences been with DHEA?
