Someone Actually Listened

I share my new LC lifestyle with most everyone that asks, and even some that don't.
Tuesday evening an overweight friend asked me how I had lost weight so I told him I had cut out sugar, bread, flour and starchy vegetables. He said he couldn't do that. He didn't have the willpower. I said "Sure you can. You don't have to quit eating, or be constantly hungry. Just eat different things."
Yesterday we both went to a lunch meeting where they had a buffet. On his plate he had a couple pieces of roasted chicken, green beans, turnip greens, and a salad. He saw me look and said, "I'm trying!" When they came around with ice cream he said politely, "No thank you." I've known that dude for nearly 30 years and that's a first time I ever heard such from him!
Praise God! I've been concerned about his health for years.

That's cool! It must make you feel pretty good knowing that he took your advice, and it's changing his life for the better.

That is really great and it just goes to show that you never really know when someone is ready to hear the message. Now you just need to be sure your friend has support.

Good to hear. Now when you have a bit of time tell him about some of the really good things you can eat and it doesn't just have to be chicken for protein. Now he knows what to avoid and is trying, he will get more motivated when he realizes a nice juicy steak with some butter on top isn't a no no like it would be on so many diets.

That's awesome! I know it feels great when you can actually help someone you care about live a little healthier... I've coached a few people myself here and there, and it's always exciting to see when someone GETS it
