Exercise and carb intake

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if exercise can be used to off-set any extra carbs you might have had by mistake? So, say I did't realise something I ate had so much in it - only say an extra 5gr on the day, can I work out extra to burn these off or does it make no difference?

I'm already training just about every day but was wondering when I screw up when reading labels, can I do a bit more to negate that mishap and use them up in exercise?

Thanks! I'm a month in, still in induction but have lost and gained the same 3kgs since starting and its beginning to annoy me!

no, they are unrelated.

insulin is required to "burn" carbs, and your body has to release the same amount of insulin whether you exercise or not. one of the main points of low carbing is to keep your insulin levels low.

so exercise for other reasons, but don't expect it to "use up" carbs in a meaningful way.

Actually, intense exercise uses up the glycogen stored in your muscles.

That stored glycogen is one reason that over-indulging on carbs can have such long-term effects. It's NOT just that you have more insulin in your blood THAT MOMENT -- it's that you've replenished your body's glycogen-stores, which is basically "long-term storage" for carbs.

Dr. Atkins repeatedly recommended extra physical exercise to help correct any lapses. Not because it burns up the calories, but because it helps re-deplete the glycogen stores much more quickly.
Re-start on 06 Dec 2014, from 224.6 lbs (after some seriously self-destructive, off-plan behavior)

Literate griffin has hit it on the nose for sure. I exercise hard core when I have a cheat day or days. I can usually get back into ketosis within three days and reverse the bloat and weight gain in 4 days. So do not be shy exercise!!!! LOL
