How much water do you drink?

I'm curious to know what others are drinking. Somewhere I read a person should drink their weight in ounces. Does that sound right? I average about 100 oz a day, but a bit more during summer.

Probably not as much as we should, it's so important for our kidney health. I try for 3 glasses a day, plus coffee and diet coke. I set a rule too, 1 glass of water for each diet coke. Then you know if it is really thirst or just a habit.

I don't think I could drink my weight in water. I don't really measure. I keep an 8 oz glass by my water cooler and try to take a drink whenever I pass by.

I am not big on "having" to drink a certain amount of water. I probably average 48oz per day with some days being more and some less. I hate the feeling of having to run to the bathroom every five minutes!

I drink about 1.5lt of water plus 5 cups of tea a day. Mostly I drink that much because I have a large bottle of water around me most of the day, so its habit to sip at it.

I do something similar. Not before tea or coffee, but I drink a glass of water before any soda.

As for overall water, I don't count (I used to drink at least a gallon daily), but I drink a lot, maybe 8-10 twelve ounce glasses of water on an average day, anything else is on top of that.

There's no particular evidence for a particular right amount of water. Drinking 8 Glasses Of Water A Day Is 'Nonsense,' Doc Says

I drink water when I'm thirsty, but mostly because it's a cheap, healthy alternative to other things I could be drinking. I don't track the amount.

It is just a theory, but I did read in Kick Your Fat In the Nuts that your body stores toxins in fat and the more water you drink the better your body can flush the toxins out. That being said I try to get 160 Oz a day.

That seems to be the logic behind the advice of Atkins and many other low carb approaches.
I become more thirsty a few days into very low carbing - such as now 4 days in, my thirst really kicked in today. So I am drinking even more water.
One bit of advice from one book is to try to drink as much as half of the 64 oz early in day, so as to keep from having to get up at night to relieve the bladder.
Bianca, I think the link you posted is for people in general, but maybe not for those of us in very low carb mode.
Well, these are just my thoughts. Not really sure about any of it.
Anyway, I am off to have another glass of water.

I always thought it was half your body weight, at any rate, I never came close to drinking half my body weight when I was at my highest. I drink now about 3 cups of tea, 2 bottles of water and get the rest of my water from fresh veggies and fruit. If I am thirsty, I drink, but due to allergies, I don't drink coffee or juice. I keep diet soda to a minimum. If I need something flavored, it is herbal tea.

i drink 1 large coffee in the am, maybe 1 can diet pop in the afternoon, and around around 100 oz. of water throughout the day. i'm always terribly thirsty (anemic).

Most of the low-carb diet books say 1/2 oz of water for every lb you weigh...and it's to wash the toxins out of your body as you lose weight. Good advice to get most of it in earlier in the day so as not to be up multiple times at night....although, that's not a BAD thing.

The hospital where I had DD gave me a 28oz cup with a straw (which I need to find a replacement for, since it's splitting), and I try to drink four of those every day- one before each meal, and one intermittently throughout the day.

Probably half a gallon or more a day.

I normally have lots and lots of cans or bottles of sparkling water because I love it.

And also a lot of regular water.

I have a 32oz water bottle at work that I fill up 3 times, so that is 96oz. I also sometimes have a glass in the morning before work and 2 cups of coffee and maybe another glass in the evening when I take my vitamins. I also drink 1 diet coke, maybe 2 per day. Lots of fluids!

I woke up several times during the night feeling thirsty and drank more water each time. Someone said on another thread that when we start losing fat our body goes into a stage where it holds onto water. This is the first time I've had this experience since restarting about 5 weeks ago. I wasn't down from my usual water consumption yesterday and didn't eat anything unusually salty. It was the warmest day by far this spring.

Have others experienced this? I don't weigh myself, but I am thinking if I did I would feel frustrated.
