Beef Jerky.....made from ground beef?

I am looking at dehydrators and some have a "gun" that you fill with ground beef and it makes little jerky strips, I guess.

I have never heard of jerky made from ground beef. My Grandpa used to make it, but it was always from a roast, steak etc.

How does the ground beef kind taste? Thanks

It's great! I love it. It is a bit easier to eat as in it is not as tough and chewy as the roast. Add whatever seasoning you enjoy! I'm not sure what type of dehydrator you're looking at, but I find 3 lbs. of gr. beef fills mine perfectly. Enjoy!

Yes I use ground beef or ground bison to make jerky - wonderful stuff. You do need the gun to make the strips to dry. Much easier to chew and my grandkids love it.

The gun that came with my Nesco Snackmaster was worthless, IMHO - but I really want to try a decent one! If anyone has one that they love, let me know!

DH's dentist told him not to eat regular beef jerky any more, it's too hard on his teeth and jaw.

Did you put ground beef into it?

My jerky gun is great but I bought it years ago from a hunter's supply store and I just looked and there is no brand on it. It is heavy and strong. Guess this doesn't really help - sorry.

I'm going to look for a strong one in our hunter stores. Thanks.

After cruising all the reviews on Amazon - I bought a LEM products jerky blaster! $49 with free Prime shipping. Says it will be here Saturday.

I have some wonderful ground bison and some ground elk from Buffalo Gal - I think I'll make a batch of jerky from each of those and see how it goes! Wish me luck.
