Bile Salts and no Gallbladder?

I have been doing LC for a while now and still have episodes of having to run to the bathroom.

I did a search on this and some mentioned Bile Salts, but I would like more info.

Is there any side effects of them?

I don't know what bile salts are, so sorry, can't help with that. are you perhaps lactose or gluten intolerant? If not, there is something your doctor could prescribe, it is called cholestramine. It was used to try and lower cholesterol in people, don't know if that works or not (didn't work for me), however, the only side affect is a great side affect if you were like me, it was "constipation" (in normal people) before I did low carb I took just one packet a day of this with about 2 or 3 oz of juice and it was a godsend. prior to that, due to dumping syndrome since I got my gallbladder removed at 22, I couldn't ever be far from a bathroom. ruined my life for 20 years with the packet of powder I was finally "normal" I never had to fear about running to the bathroom, If I had to go, it was ok, I could hold it like a normal person and not have to run and pray. You do have to get a prescription from your doctor, but the two doctors I went to definitely knew about it and had no problem prescribing it for my running. I don't know if this helps or not, but I definitely feel your pain and know what you are going through.

I too have no gallbladder and have GI issues after certain meals. Bile Salts can actually make it worse if you get too high of a dose. I suggest NOW Super Enzymes, each pill has 100mg of bile salts to help with digestion.

I take NOW Super Enzymes since having my gallbladder out.

I used to have a hard time digesting fat and anything too rich, but have gotten a lot of relief from taking these enzymes.
