A quick internet search reveals that sweet 10 is a saccharine based sugar substitute available at K-mart
Here is some label info Ingredients: Water, Sodium Saccharin N.F. 2.5%, Benzoic Acid and Methyl Paraben as Preservatives. It lists as "0" calories, carbs, protein, fat. etc. I have never seen it, and would probably use it if no other sugar substitute were availabe, but I don't particularly like saccharine. It has some bad health claims against it and I think it's leaves an unpleasant aftertaste

It is liquid and has no carbs...I don't know how it would be in hot foods or beverages but the small amount you would use in a cold drink should not cause any health problems...I think this sweetener is used more outside the US. I personally do not like the taste of it and prefer ez sweetz(liquid splenda) or erythritol(truvia)...they have less of an aftertaste. The only sweetener Atkins suggests is splenda, I believe. But, some of us do well with other sweeteners as long as they are low carb.

Yes, you have correctly identified the brand names and type of sweetener As to which one you need? well the simple answer is you don't "need" any of them. But if, like most of us you require a little sweetener sometimes than I would suggest buying either splena or truvia and trying them out. Personally I have used splenda packets with satisfying results for years. Recently I tried a liquid sucralose (splenda) sold at wal mart called "sucralose to go" It's cheap, zero carbs/cals, and easy to use once you get the hang of the squeeze.

I think think the liquid splenda(ez sweets or sucralose to go) don't have an after taste like the powdered versions of splenda do. Truvia(erythritol is granular like sugar and sometimes hard to dissolve, but tastes more like sugar to me. No aftertaste for truvia either unless you use too much then you can get a cool taste in your mouth.

I guess one of the reasons I question it is I see a lot of recipes - some call for liquid splenda- some for granular splenda - what I'm getting of this is that the liquid is WAY less net carbs as many have noted in their recipes. I have a bag of loose splenda - like you've described - it's my local Market Basket brand. I'll try a bit with that and see how it goes.
I can't thank you enough for responding Much appreciated! |
