Brussels sprouts?

What do you guys think of them? Any favorite ways to prepare? I've never had them before.

I fry up some bacon and onions diced up
then slice the brussel sprouts in half and take off the loose leaves on them.
and drege the sprouts thru the bacon grease
then broil them till they are soft and then add the bacon bits to them and serve.
season them before serving. I love them this way.

I actually have a bag of the sprouts already cut up from Trader Joe's. I think ill fry them up in some bacon grease. Thanks!

I toss them in olive oil with a splash of balsamic vinegar and some salt and pepper and roast them at 400 degrees until tender. Using bacon grease instead of the olive oil and putting in some chopped bacon or pancetta is also very good.

brussels sprouts are about the only import from Belgium...

that I can live without. I love quite a large assortment of veggies, but that and lima beans are 2 that are conspicuously missing from the list. Love & Profts: FLATFERENGHI

My favourite vegetable I do them the traditional British way - which is to say, we put them on to boil in early August so that they're ready for Christmas dinner!

Seriously, I like my sprouts over-boiled (ie, cooked until soft), drained, and then a big pat of butter added, and a good shake of white (has to be white) pepper.

They're also really rather good parboiled and then slightly browned in the fat from bacon lardons which you then sprinkle over the sprouts.

Ack, now I want to go cook sprouts.

Love them and plan on having them tomorrow. I either baked them in the oven in EVOO or pan fried them in EVOO.
It is funny, when I was a kid, I used to hated them. Maybe because I had them over-cooked in soup.

Love them! I par boil mine for 5 min. drain them then drizzle bacon fat over them and season with whatever you like then rast them until they are very brown :-) I then sometimes take those and add cream cheese, cheddar, and a lottle cream then stir itall up and stick it back in the oven until the cheese melts. HEAVEN!

They're also good with bleu cheese sprinkled on them, and maybe a few chpped walnuts

First started Atkins April 1, 2002.
Lost 40 pounds back then and maintained for almost 8 years...then carb creep crept. I've always been low carb, but went hard core again in March 2012.

I got the shredded brussels sprouts that Trader Joe's sell and made this. It is so good we're having it for Christmas Eve dinner.

Shredded Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Pecans

4 slices bacon, fried and crumbled
2 10-oz packages shredded brussels sprouts
˝ teaspoon salt
1/3 cup jicama, cut into small cubes
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/3 cup pecans, chopped
Juice of ˝ small lemon
Freshly ground pepper

Fry bacon until crisp. Remove and set aside. Add sprouts and salt to the bacon grease. Cook and stir over medium heat about 7 minutes. Add the jicama, crumbled bacon, garlic and maple syrup; cook until everything is heated through. Turn off heat; stir in the pecans, lemon juice and pepper to taste

I just put some in the oven. I cut off the bottoms and cut any larger pieces in half. I the put them on a baking sheet and sprinkle some olive oil and kosher salt on them. I then toss the brussel sprouts bat to make sure that that they are evenly tossed with the oil and salt. I put them in a 425 degree oven for 20 minutes.

Easy! I buy frozen ones, thaw a little bit and cut them in half while partially frozen. Then saute them vigorously in olive oil with a few crushed garlic cloves until nicely browned and caramelized and crispy. Salt and serve. Yummy!

Bacon Brussell Sprouts with carmalized onions in browned butter sauce.

I took three recipes from Linda Sue and combined them!

Diane's Brussel Sprouts

1 lb. Brussel Sprouts
1 beef bouillion cube
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp salt
few grains white pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp dry mustard
6 slices bacon, fried and crumbled

Trim Brussel sprouts and cut in half, lengthwise
Cook brussel sprouts until tender, 10 - 15 minutes adding bouillion cube to water; drain. Or steam! Or roast! (depends on my mood)
Blend remaining ingredients except bacon in a small saucepan.
Set over low heat and heat thoroughly (or slap it in the microwave).

Spoon sauce over hot brussel sprouts
Sprinkle with bacon.

*Note: I usually mix up the sauce and store it in a covered container in the refrigerator. I've used it after a couple of weeks, even.. and it was fine! Then, I just steam or roast up the a serving for me and dollop on the sauce (heated) w/ bacon. It's a go to veggie for me.

I trim them and cut them in half, heat a skillet medium to medium-high with a few tablespoons of olive oil (could use another fat, bacon fat would be great), put them in the skillet, sprinkle with sea salt and fresh ground pepper and turn cut side down. Cook until browned about 5-10 minutes, turn over and let the other side cook until brown and as tender as you like, another 5 min or so. Add a little butter for flavor and serve. If I really want to be decadant, I add some shredded Swiss cheese and/or cooked chopped bacon at the end right before removing from heat. Very yummy!
