My view this morning

Sorry, I just have a quick minute to pop in.

This was the view from my window this morning when I woke up! So beautiful, huh? It's the Tower Bridge on the river in Sacramento.

Ahhhhh..... it was lovely to wake up to that view every morning! We got to see a big beautiful lit up paddle boat go under the bridge one night. Tower Bridge is a vertical draw bridge. It's quite a site to see it go up. We also got to see a boat go under it in the day light. So impressive.

Old Sacramento had a fabulous Christmas light show with music and characters on the roofs of several historical buildings playing out "Twas the night Before Christmas" one night. So fun!

Now I'm back home. It's raining outside and I'm snuggled up in front of the fire drinking coffee.

This will be a much needed "back on track" DD.

We have a big Christmas office party/dinner on Friday night. Gosh, I hope at least 5 pounds will disappear by then! I have been "bad".

Looking forward to that JUDD forgiveness we all talk about and experience from time to time!

Trying to decide whether to change my stats UP to reflect the trouble I've gotten myself into. I think I might wait until some of the water weight falls off and then I'll have a better idea of the damage I've done.

Good news is that I can still fit into my clothes. Whew! That's what makes me think it's water weight and not fat. fingers crossed!

Thanks Beverly! I always miss being here but when I'm away I can never find the time to get on line for more than a minute or two.

Hey! You have lost another pound since I was here last! Congratulations!

Hi Phyl, my Dear Buddy! Let's see... I'll be home until a week from tomorrow, then gone for 4 days, then back and getting the house put together for a full house! Our daughter, son, their spouses, 5 grand kids and my grand doggie will all be staying under our roof for 5 days over Christmas.

We are wrapping presents like crazy and putting them under the tree. Only have a few more to buy.

This Friday evening we have DH's big office party/dinner. I tried on outfits today to see what looks good.

I keep coming here today for encouragement and to keep me on track. It's late afternoon and I still have not had any calories except for the 40 from half and half in my coffee this morning.

I'll see how long I can hold out before dinner. No tummy growls, which is amazing. I'm hanging in there! So thankful for all the JUDD BUDDS and so much motivation here to keep me going!

Hi Yam Yam Welcome back!

Hubby is in CA and not overly thrilled with the weather....no fireplace to curl up in front of!

I'll come next time - probably in March.

A dear friend is going to do all of the cooking for Christmas Eve and bring it over. This way we get to have our usual group in for the evening. We will do a couple of things that can be frozen here on Friday.

Enjoy all of your family for the holidays. Should be lots of fun.

Hugs

Hi Seabreezes!

Brrrrr! I have my fireplace on right now. I kept it on all day yesterday. This morning I went out on the back patio and checked the temperature. 32 degrees! Gosh, I miss Oahu!

Sounds like you have a fun Christmas planned.

We will be full to the brim with everyone staying here. I always have withdrawal and feel very sad when they all leave. Then it takes me a week to recover and put the house back in order!

Right now I'm tearing everything apart. I have to clean out closets, drag out the big portable beds, clear out the office/exercise room (we turn that into a bedroom) and that's only the beginning!

I've been making menu lists and shopping lists and Kirby has been wrapping all the presents I shopped for.

I will do my pie baking the day before everyone gets here. Sugar cookies will probably be made when all the kids are here. We have such a blast cutting out the shapes and then decorating them.

I'm going to roast a turkey on Christmas Eve and then bake 2 hams on Christmas Day. Also making some Christmas breads and other goodies. Lots of work, but fun too!

I'm definitely having a great JUDD week this week. I really needed it!

This morning the scale was down a total of -5.2 pounds since Monday morning. I gotta keep it up and then hold the line over the holidays.

Great to hear from you!

Hi Yam-yam! It sounds like you have a lovely Christmas holiday coming up! It sounds like you are doing fantastic as always with living an exciting life and keeping yourself healthy with JUDDD. I am sure you have read all of the potato hack experiments going on here but wanted to let you know that I am having really good success with them for just keeping my calories down inbetween all the holiday eating opportunities. I am indulging in all of the fun times right now and hanging onto my weight (barely!) with using boiled potatoes with malt vinegar and salt on my down days and before parties to save up cals for the fun stuff. Just wanted to mention it in case it helps. I think you are motivated by not changing your stats so I would leave them where they are as I am sure you will be back to them in no time!

Hi Barb!

Thanks for the reinforcement. I really love the encouragement and motivation and ideas on this forum. It's the best! Yes, I really thought it over about changing my stats. But, when I've done it in the past it really discourages me and right now I'm all about keeping myself positive and encouraged. So thanks for agreeing with me!

I have popped onto the potato hack thread and read it off and on. I'm so glad it's helping you.

For me, I'm a-skeered of too many potatoes. Not really. I do worry that if I indulged in just potatoes all day and then went off the rails because they sparked carb cravings in the evening, I would gain instead of lose. Maybe I need to go back and read more. I am a JUDDer who has great success on DDs by sticking to lean protein and some healthy fats like fish oil, EVOO and EVCO.

From past experience when I eat potatoes, the hunger monster wakes up, so I limit them to once a week or once every couple of weeks. Then when I have a baked potato at a restaurant I can really enjoy it.

Never tried the malt vinegar at all. I'm going to have to look for it and next time I make baked or boiled or steamed potatoes at home I will try it. Do you buy it in the grocery store or get it on line? We don't have any health food stores or anything like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods in the boonies where I live.

The other thing I was thinking is that when I get back from each of my recent decadent vacations (with too much yummy food and wine) I knuckle down and do what I already know. And, I get rewarded because it works fast.

I don't think I've ever done any other plan where I can lose 5.2 pounds in 3 full days of dieting! (Mon-Tues-Wed of this week and then weighed this morning, Thursday). My skeerdness is that I don't want to mess up JUDD right now because it's paying off for me. KWIM?

Not sayin' I won't try the tater plan one day. Just not ready now. But, I will keep popping in and reading about how all you tater-heads are doing. I love sweet potatoes. And, some of the ways to fix them sound absolutely deeeelish! Thanks so much for the info. I you!
