Honey

Does anyone know of any lower carb honey? Or does it exsist? Lol I can't use art sweetners in my drinks anymore due to IC. So i'd love to find something I can use in my tea

OH, NO! Not even ethirytol? That's awful. I don't think there is a low carb honey. The sugar aisle has 'agave" but I don't know much about it.

BTW, you are looking so good!

Any of the honey substitutes that are low carb will have to be sweetened with something, to try to duplicate that sweet honey flavor.

Are you actually after that honey flavor specifically, or just something to sweeten your tea with that will be acceptable and not bother you?

You say that the artificial sweeteners bother you, but have you tried them all? Perhaps you could find one that would be OK. Otherwise, if a sweetener isn't an artificial one, it's one of the 'real' ones, and there's going to be a certain level of carbohydrate in them.

You might just have to learn to like unsweetened tea.

I would avoid agave! It has had a great sales campaign but is super high in fructose, like high fructose corn syrup, and fructose encourages the development of fatty liver disease (bad for you in every way, including encouraging weight gain) since it is processed primarily in the liver.

I've just given up sweeteners entirely, and really don't miss them now. I used to drink coffee and tea with honey, but after a couple of weeks, it tasted just fine to me with just cream in it.

Ahh Thanks Happy!
with IC you get bad bladder pains, irritation and sometimes sores in your bladder. So artifical sweetners Kill! I haven't tried the E one (can't spell it lol) yet. I've tried splenda, aspertane and truvia so far. Can't use any of those. I seem to be able to eat stuff with the sweetners in it but can't drink them

How about stevia? That's made from a plant and is the most "natural" of the alternative/lowcarb sweeteners, IMO. I know there's stevia in Truvia, but it also contains Erythritol. Maybe you can handle stevia by itself.

Try the nu naturals liquid stevia. It's actually very good. Whole Foods carries it

Pickle pete, I bought a honey substitute from netrition and it does taste very good.
And for Pricess mommy...I bought a honey tea that wasn't sweetened and it was pretty good...there is also a honey vanilla and a honey lemon...stevia works well in these because they don't need much to sweeten them...it just enhances the flavor. I wish I could remember the brands but I can't...but they are out there.

Yes, plain stevia glycerite is your best bet. NuNaturals is my second favorite brand, my vitamin site's store brand is the first. Sweetleaf is another good brand. But those are your absolute best bet, along with liquid sucralose if you haven't ruled that out already.

Make sure you get 100% stevia. Many stevia proucts contain other ingredients.

I hope it works for you - and that you keep feeling well.

I use a chai tea by celestial seasonings, with a bit of coconut milk in it and it tastes very sweet without any sweetener at all in it. It must be the combination of cinnamon, cloves etc. Amazing, and sometimes too sweet for my mood!

You can buy Celestial Seasonings honey chamomile tea. It has a mild sweet home taste but NO sweeteners. It's not as sweet as you are used to, but 1000% better for you.

That's the brand that I like, too. And it really does have a mild honey taste.

I would try stevia and see if you can have it in small amounts. Sending some hugs your way. That sounds painful.
