Time to adjust numbers again?

I've been keeping my UD calories to 1800 since 10/18 due to the stop in my weight loss. On 10/18 I weighed 300.8. Today I weigh 293. I bounced down to 289 on Sunday, but have since gone back up. So I guess technically I've lost about 7 pounds since 10/18 (about 3 weeks), but considering I had lost no weight in the previous month, I'm not too thrilled about this.

Pat gave me the great advice to try this out. Do I need to keep going at this number, or try another adjustment? If so, what do I need to change? I'm working it and willing to try anything at this point. I'm seeing the same lose 2 pounds, gain 2 pounds as I've seen for the past few months.

I'm curious as to how you got that number. Is that from the site? How tall are you? I'm 5'1 and 220 and my calories are way more than 1800. I only ask because they seem low and perhaps you need to be eating more, not less, in order for the weight loss to happen.

Just a thought.

After not losing at the calories provided by Dr. Johnson's calculator, which was 2300, it was suggested that I drop down to 1800 to see what happens.

Karen- I would stick with these numbers for at least 2 more weeks. I often see the same tiny bounce for 2+ weeks and then have a bit of a whoosh just to steady out for a while again. My pattern is tied to TOM, but I think a lot of people lose like this even if they don't get TOM anymore. I think 7 pounds is great and our bodies do need to adjust a little after a loss. Yam- Yam has a thread about why the body needs a break between losses. If I can find it I'll link it here.

I agree too. Whatever you're doing now is working. I know it's not as fast as you would like, but 7 pounds really is good. I went through weeks 5, 6 & 7 w/o really losing, bouncing up and down a pound or two. But I stayed with it and now the weight is coming off nicely again. Hang in there!

Seems to me you are doing fine at these number Karen, I wouldn't want you to drop your UD cals any lower that 1800, not for a long time.
