Setting a small year end goal that isn't poundage
Looking at how little of the year is left and how much of that is the thanksgiving/christmas season. Want to keep my motivation high to end the year in a better place than I started it.
Decided a small goal is in order and wondering if any of you have one: I want to get my bmi under the overweight category even if it is just barely. I can do this by the end of the year I hope and pray. It would only take a modest loss under 10 pounds to get there. I'm lightly exercising every day, doing my strict rotations (and going to try to keep that going until the holiday season hits), and I am trying to not wear "masking" clothes so my self image will adjust to the thinner me. my ultimate goal is to get my waist back in the 20s, not there yet and not stressed over it. I hate weight goals because my body is so erratic, so I don't really set a weight amount. Nor do I like goals that are so far off I cannot even see them or they are constantly just out of reach.. I want something I can reach, pass by, and smile when I see it in the rearview mirror. Let's end this year with a measurable success to hold onto.

Lou, I think that's a great idea. I'll have to think about a realistic non-scale goal for myself. I just get so hung up on the scale number, this would be a good re-focusing exercise.
I'll give it some thought and post what I come up with. Thanks for this!

Great idea! I'd like to fit comfortably into size 12 slacks. I have a couple of pairs that I can currently zip, but I wouldn't wear them out in public yet! My size 14s are getting a little bit baggy, but don't yet look like clown pants.

I want to be in the "healthy weight" range (on the upper end of "normal" right now at 23.79.) Wanting to be at 22.0 by the end of the year but would be happy with 23.0 or less.

Great thread Lou.
My goal is to keep up the exercise habit which I had got out of because of my knee. Just restarted a week or so ago and so far so good. That way my waist might make it to the 20s too.

Can I join you for the end of year challenge?
If so, I'd like to get to where I was when I was 36. I am now 44. I was doing Atkins back then and going to the gym 3 times a week. I had lost 40 lbs and was feeling great. I was in a size 8 jean and small tops. I was that size for 3 -6 months and then the weight started coming back. So my goal would be to get back into those jeans by the end of the year. I have about 20 lbs and lots of inches to get there. |

Great idea! My end-of-2012 goal is to be in size 16 (I'm in 18's now). I'd also love to reach my next goal of BMI <40 by then.

B_Lou, what a fun thread! It sounds like you have an attainable goal.
I've been thinking about the holidays looming, as well as lots of birthdays, etc. My goal is to keep up with exercise and engage in clean rotations when possible. Also, I want to enjoy food with the family, am really looking forward to that. I love your plan of not wearing 'masking' clothes. I seriously need to get to the store and shop for clothes that fit, am still wearing my 'masking' clothes, don't think much about it, but you're right! Should make this a goal too.

*raises hands* Me me me! I am gonna jump on the jeans bandwagon here! I'd like to fit (comfortably) into the next size down! Which is a 9/10 I believe. I am one of those "lucky" people that is short and a little wide so finding jeans is a nightmare unto itself!

My goal for the end of the year:
1) assuming I gain about 10lbs on vacation (8 more sleeps ![]() 2) I want to make it through the holidays following my rotation, and only eating any treats on UDs 3) I'd like to say "i want to get into the next size down which I have in my closet" BUT for me, I don't think having all my 18's fit comfortably will happen in 2012. I think it WILL happen, and probably by the end of January... but unlikely (though happy to have that happen) in 2012. So I'll stick with losing vacation weight, and sticking to rotations in the face of temptation.

Thank you for posting this thread. I've been thinking a lot about the holidays. This will be the first year that I'll enjoy a regular Thanksgiving meal and I'm looking forward to it! It has me delighted and concerned. I'm thinking of throwing in a fat fast for a few days afterward.
My goal is stick with doing my best on JUDDD and to have made enough more progress that someone, anyone will have noticed that I've lost weight and say something...anything! I know that day is coming. Maybe next month, when I see my dentist. Six months ago we were talking about dieting. She was doing something that sounded like a starvation diet and having a hard time with it. I mentioned JUDDD, but we didn't have much time to talk. She said she was going to look into it. I should be 50 pounds lighter than my last appointment.

My goal would be non-fasting cholesterol of 240 or less when I donate blood. It was very nearly 300 in the summer which is what prompted me to start this WOE.
Not gaining during the hols would be a nice bonus.
