2nd DD and feel like poo

I'm feeling very...down for lack of a better word. I'm kind of puny feeling and just being very lumpish.

I had a slice of toast (plain) this morning with my coffee, and I've had some home made egg drop soup for lunch.

I've been guzzling water so I'm not dehydrated. I just feel like sleeping all day.

I'm not really asking for any advice, as I'm sure this is normal. I just felt like whining LOL

Aww Melissa. You're not whining. It IS very normal to feel just kind of YUCKY when starting a new WOE. It takes awhile for the body to adjust. Maybe some sodium might help. You know what you gotta do - just stick with it, and it'll get so much better!

YOU CAN DO IT!

We're here for you, and understand.

I hope you are feeling better. I had a horrible couple of initial days too. Eating too low on DD's and waaaay to high on the UD to make up for it. Luckily I only maintained and didn't gain. Like many others have said, it does get better. i can easily go all day on DD's with just water and hot green tea. Sending positive thoughts and encouragement your way. We can do this. This site is amazingly supportive so do whine all you'd like and keep on trucking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My home made version of egg drop soup is made with chicken broth and egg white with a splash of soy sauce. I think if I added more sodium my heart would start skipping beats lol

What are your DD calories? When I started my DD's were between 700-800c because below that then was simply too low to cope. I now have eased them down to 500-600c! HTH

It does get better- way better, but it takes some time to adjust and to feel the power of the SIRTs. Make up a 30 calorie snack and try that if you feel really hungry. Sometimes just a few calories go a long way. Broth can be a life saver too, especially if you have the shivers. In the beginning I used miracle noodles/ rice quite a bit. The volume just seemed to help!

This is normal. It's very hard. It's ok to treat yourself like you're an invalid for now. I considered my early days JUDDDing like a kind of medical leave. Until I got used to DDs, I was totally useless.

Now, about 16 weeks into it, my DD yesterday was totally productive. I even got lots of writing done. It was probably more productive than today, in fact, when I could finally eat.

Fasting is kind of like a muscle. You're going to work to muscle failure in those first weeks. Eventually, you're going to feel really strong and capable. But right now it's ok to feel fragile and treat yourself as kindly as possible.

Also, please, I beg of you. Do not start your day with toast. Carbs aren't the devil on this plan, but they can make your life a total misery on a DD.

Ah maybe this is why I was so not myself today. My first DD I started off with just coffee and HWC til lunch..

I'll remember that for Thursday and see if that helps. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone that made helpful (and encouraging) comments! I had my dinner and I feel a little better. I'm probably still going to go to bed at an embarrassingly early hour, but I feel better knowing my calories for tomorrow are waiting on me!

Lurking, and hoping you feel better today Melissa!
I echo what Steph said-- carbs and DDs don't go that well together, especially not for starting the day out, IMO (you might discover differently as you go along...)

In any event, you always get a reprieve with an UD the next day, and then a do-over the following DD.

As Kissa (cindy) used to say in her sig-- relax, rejoice, rotate

I feel better today, of course. LOL I had some cereal with my kiddo before he went off to school. I kind of had to force myself to eat something. It was so weird.

Tomorrow I will definitely take you guy's advice and try to avoid carbs in the morning like the plague!

Onward, UD! Away!

I can definately vouch for the energy that starts happpining on DD's I get more accomplished on them than the UD's where I sometimes feel sluggish!

I take pterostilbene to simulate SIRT1 effect and that helps
Protein not carbs on down days make ALL the difference to my body
And be kind to yourself. A nice bath, pedicure, lots of hot fluids, and some positive self-talk go a long way on down days. You deserve it!

I actually save the pampering for the DDs... bath, early bed, making sure I brush my teeth extra long Face mask, maybe a hair mask...

I even have some DDs treats that I don't eat on my UDs... my butter in the morning, my super special teas that I love (and the caffeine helps) and the herbal teas where I can snack on them as well as drink them (my new favorite, banana bread, has pieces of banana, dates, and currants that make up the tea!-- comes to about 1tsp, so it's a tiny sweet treat).

I don't think of DDs as "punishment" when I do these things, just a differently organized day where my focus is on different things Luckily, my first DD was the worst and never had as bad a one after that.

Melissa!

I missed this Melissa, sorry you were having a hard time.

You know the Dr recommends 500 cal DDs for the first 2 weeks, to help your body get used to fasting...

My first one was also the worst. I've had a few days of misery since then. Sometimes even unexpectedly--out of the blue--when I think I'm doing fine. But nothing like the first few.

it's called davids tea... if you google banana nut bread tea, should be the first or one of the top ones that comes up.

I'm sort of stalking them so when they advertised this all month (in facebook, in twitter, etc) I kept seeing it and seeing it... even though I promised DH no more tea in the house till the new year, well, I, um... I snuck over to the store after my haircut on Saturday and bought some!

anyway-- I was heavily into the mango diablo in the summer, so that was my treat on DDs, and I"m convinced the spice helped with weight loss. Now I'm going with banana nut bread and also toasted marshmallow for the winter

HOLY GIANT THREADJACK!!!
Sorry Melissa!

Hi Angie! look them up in google, b/c depending where you are, you might find the one in Oakville closer, and there's one in Sherway also. Can't link to sites that sell stuff, but you'll find them if you google them

fwiw, I often buy online b/c at $50, you get free shipping... but I'm obviously addicted

Omg I am seriously impressed with the amazing flavor selection at that tea site, Soren! Do you have any general flavor recommendations? Those cakes and sweets flavors are calling my name but I don't know if they taste as good as they sound.
