Special Day? Monday? Up Day/Down Day? Why?

Did you start JUDDDing on a special day or did you just start?
Did you start on an Up Day or Down Day?
What made you start JUDDDing?

I'm sitting here reading all of these threads and trying to figure out when I should start. Then I'm thinking why not today? This is so different than any other diet. Before other diets I would eat everything that I wouldn't be allowed to eat on a diet but this diet is different because I can eat that stuff every other day if I wanted. Or I would just start on a Monday or right after a holiday.
I am really just trying to get my head around this. It is boggling my mind to think that I could just start right now without any thought put into it.

So what made you start and did you pick a special day?

It really doesn't matter what day you start on, because as you mentioned, you can eat whatever you want every other day (or even every day if you just eat less of it on your DDs). That's really what attracted me to JUDDD initially (well, along with the glowing results of people dropping weight left and right who were previously stalled with no hope in sight) and is still what keeps me on this woe 3.5 months into maintenance. Personally though, I would start on an UD and eat well to make sure my body is well fueled and ready for the following DD.

Good luck to you, although luck isn't really needed with JUDDD.
* wheat/gluten-free
* whole foods and low carb
* goal reached on 7/2/2012

I switched from Atkins. I wanted the freedom of being able to eat carbs again, or at least more carbs than I was eating. My daughter's birthday party was coming up, so I went off Atkin's that Friday afternoon, ate whatever I wanted throughout that weekend, and started with a DD the following Monday. I took the gain from the weekend and called that my JUDDD starting weight. It's generally recommended to start with an UD so you'll be well-fueled for your DD. I stared with a DD, but it was after the equivalent of several UDs in a row.

It's really true that you don't have to plan to eat a bunch of forbidden foods going into JUDDD. I wasn't smart enough to figure that out (thus, my weekend of cupcakes and pizza before I started). With JUDDD, you can have whatever you want, just fit it into your calorie limits. It's so freeing!

JUDDD got me where I want to be!

I started Sept 4th, right after Labor Day. I had a lot of food and drink centered events for the entire long weekend, and started my DD on Tuesday after. So even though I "started" on a DD, like Dawn, I had had several true UD, maybe even UUADs before.

I always recommend the UD first too.

I love that we don't have to eat the house 'clean' before starting JUDDD!

3/28/12 was my first DD. I was just doing regular Atkins before, but with reduced calories. I stayed under 20 net carbs for the first month and then ditched counting carbs all together. It is probably good to have a solid UD first if your food or calories has been restricted, but in the scheme of things doesn't really matter. Just start!
JUDDD changed my life. It transformed my health, gave me freedom and restored my confidence.

JUDDD is very simple, very livable and very flexible. JUDDD allows weight loss and life to happen simultaneously.

I started the day I made the decision to give JUDDD a shot and made it an UD. Nothing special about it. No special foods to buy. No forbidden foods to get rid of. It was August 28 and I had four birthday celebrations in September as well as other social events and managed the rotations just fine with a little UD/DD juggling. No time like the present.

I started at the beginning of april-- I think the 1st or 2nd, but it was a Saturday. I started with an Up Day where I tracked my food... had been tracking and trying to lower my calories for a couple weeks prior on straight LC, and then got into learning about JUDDD, and that's how I decided to try it.

Oh, it was an UD on the saturday, b/c my first DD was a sunday and I was a bit dizzy, and went to a movie with DH and had diet soda and gum. THen went food shopping and had to hang on to the cart to not pass out

but it all got better and I lost a bunch of weight that month!

I started on a very un-special Thursday after two days of celebrating my son's birthday (can't get rid of all that cookie cake in one day). I figured a DD was appropriate after that.

I started the day after a big feast at my house. Like you, i had been interested in JUDD and done a bit of thinking about it but I hadn't fully decided I'd go for it. On the evening after our big dinner, I was stuffed & the thought formed to give fasting a go the next day. I adopted a "see how I get on" approach rather than thinking I "must" fast and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't easy but was no where near as hard as I'd expected. Six weeks in, I've had a blip but firmly believe JUDDD will sort it out (& after 1 DD, I'm halfway there ) Give it a go... Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised too... Good luck

I thought a lot about JUDDD before starting. Then one day, I decided I just had to do something different and JUDDD was it. I started on a down day. I've been JUDDDing for close to a year and really believe this is the way for me to go. I have some days (and sometimes several days) when I go way off this WOE, but a few rotations and I'm back where I need to be!

I started on a whim, with an up day of course, and it was just a random week day. Where on earth can you find a diet that lets you start with eating whatever you want within reason?
I had to get back on track after a maintenance season (which btw was the first time in my life I have genuinely maintained at the same place I stopped losing) and just did it. Decided Saturday night and got up for a down day Sunday. I knew I wanted Monday and Wed this week to be up days, so that worked out.
Find someone to love today, especially yourself.

I started on a DD on a Monday but had equivalent of two UD.s at the weekend. As said before don't think it matters where you start but if you've had a food fuelled weekend like lots of us then go straight onto DD - which will be hard but always focus that tomorrow you can eat what you want
