What is the best Ranch dressing?

I love the taste of the homemade stuff you get at restaraunts. Is there a way to make or buy something that tastes similar and is low carb?

Ken's. Caesar and Buttermilk Ranch (regular, not lite) are 1 carb per 2tbsp. I only require one tablespoon of dressing unless that is my main meal and it is huge then I will do 2 tbsp. So if you are doing just 1 tbsp then it will only be .5 carb.

And, they are really good.

PicklePete - which one exactly do you use? I just checked Amazon and they have a host of different ones. They all have perfect ratings and reviews. I will purchase on tomorrow.

I would get one of those little packets and make it yourself. Most of the bottled stuff uses soybean oil.

A creamy dressing, but not necessarily ranch....

By far, the very very very best salad dressing I've ever had is made by a small, family-owned company out of New Orleans. It's called Cousin's (brand) Creole Tomato Salad Dressing.

I asked them today on FB when they'd be shipping again for the fall, but they haven't answered. If I don't get a response tomorrow, I'll email the company owner. She's very responsive and understanding of my addiction

My vote is for Ken's Buttermilk Ranch or homemade with sour cream and ranch powdered seasoning.

As far as bottled dressings go, I'm going to add another vote for Ken's Steakhouse Buttermilk Ranch. Though, it's so thick I feel compelled to add water to it so I can drizzle it instead of "plop" lol!
I really want to start making my own dressings. I just haven't been eating salad lately! Whatever you do don't buy bottled avocado or guacamole ranch... it turned me off of salads for a while.. yuck! Make it homemade!

I don't know if it's available in the US but Cardini's is by far and away my favourite. I have also always loved the ranch they do at TGI Friday's but I'm pretty certain it isn't low carb.

I like Uncle Dan's packets. I usually make it as a dip and use it to dip veggies in or mix in into a salad.

My favorite is Kraft's regular and Kraft's 3 cheese ranch - both are really good and they run them on sale a lot!

Marie's Creamy Ranch. It is in the refrigerator section. No preseratives so it has a shorter shelf life. It is so good!

Ken's is great, but Uncle Dan's is better! You can mix in any proportion of HWC, mayo, sour cream that you want.

My favorite is from Maria's Healthy Blog ... love her blog and recipes. This makes up as thick (for dips) or as thin (for dressing) as you want by increasing or decreasing the broth. I use softened cream cheese and use my Magic Bullet for a really fast dressing.

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1/2 cup chicken or beef broth
1/2 tsp dried chives
1/2 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp dried dill weed
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp Celtic salt
1/8 tsp ground black pepper

In a blender or a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, broth, chives, parsley, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving (it will thicken up as it rests). Makes 12 servings.

NUTRITIONAL COMPARISON (per serving)
Traditional Ranch = 153 calories, 1.1 carbs, 0 fiber
KRAFT Fat Free Ranch = 50 calories, 11 carbs, 0 fiber
"Healthified" Ranch = 66 calories, 0.75 carbs, 0 fiber

The ranch that you find in the refrigerated section by salads tastes most like restaurant dressing to me.

If you're in the Midwest - Frisch's Ranch! My absolute favorite. You can buy bottles in the restaurants now (their Tartar sauce also at Kroger and SAMs).
