Blood Pressure Results on JUDDD

I was going to wait for my weekly update to announce this, but I can't.

Yesterday I went to the doctor for the first time after JUDDDing for 13 weeks. I am on blood pressure medication, which has been steadily increasing in dose as I get older and fatter.

Well.

My blood pressure yesterday was 112/70. The nurse was so shocked she had to do it again, using a machine, because she didn't trust herself.

This is a huge drop for me, as I was on the verge of having yet another adjustment of medication just before I went on JUDDD. Now we may be able to consider lowering my dose, if not eliminating it altogether!

Even better news is that my white knight, who was on the verge of being diagnosed with hypertension himself, has also started IF. And his blood pressure also dropped so significantly that he won't have to be medicated.

Now, before anyone dismisses this as the likely result of any weight management plan, allow me to explain that I have been doing low carb for the better part of a decade. And when I did Weight Watchers my blood pressure actually went up higher. So, for me, I am quite pleased.

YAYYYYYYYY!!

I'm really glad to hear this, because my BP that has been on the low side for most of my adult life started going up to the high side last year, and I was on WW as well.

Great news!

Now, before anyone dismisses this as the likely result of any weight management plan...
My blood pressure was something crazy like 165/100, and I got it down--with herbs and vitamins--without losing a single pound or increasing exercise! It was 108/68 a few mornings ago; that it unusually low, but it is 115/75 quite often and I am happy with that!

If a person is overweight, most doctors will blame ALL problems--even ear infections & allergies!!!!--on their weight. And really there ARE other reasons!!!

My guess--blood pressure is dependent upon the flexibility of the blood vessels. Inflammation causes fissures in the blood vessels, and cholesterol sticks to the fissures, making the vessels thicker and less flexible. JUDDD is anti-inflammatory, so the fissures heal and the issue resolves itself!!!

Congrats, Stephanie!!!

In my experience, this is absolutely true.

I have a great deal of respect for medical professionals, but over time I've come to be of the opinion that if you are very overweight, doctors look at you like the walking dead. As if there is no point in treating you for anything--even pain--since their time and medicine could be better used on someone who is still alive.

I have been treated so badly by physicians in the past that I now always dress up to the nines whenever I go in to the doctors. Suit, jewelry, make-up, perfume, the whole shebang. And then I bring my white knight for back up.

Since adopting this practice, which rather forces people to look at you more like a human being, I have received better medical care.

Awesome!!! Yep, this is something I needed to read. My BP's been up and down and for the past 15 years got it steady enough to be in "hypertension", and have been taking HCT for it. I desperately want to get off these meds and stop the feeling of hearing my heart beat in my head(loudly) every night when I go to bed! So...once again, you've tickled an inspirational bone in me.

Yikes. I thought I was the only one who could hear her heartbeat in her ears at night. Every time I mentioned it to a physician, I was met with dismissal and disbelief, but it could be loud enough to wake me up.

She scowled and tapped her stethoscope, as if it was broken. Then wheeled over the machine and muttered something about my pulse being very faint and needing to confirm her numbers because she thought she had made a mistake.

I grinned!

I had tachychardia in addition to hbp...resting pulse was near 100, and my heart would beat so hard, I could see my blankets (and/or the book I was reading) shaking! Not the same as the loud heartbeat you're talking about, but scary. And what did the doctors say? "Oh, try to lose some weight; that should help."

I got my heart rate down in just a couple of days of taking diatomaceous earth--again, without losing a pound or adding any exercise! My resting is now about 68-74.

Now, I'm not against losing weight or adding exercise , but it just amazes me how so much of what I'd always assumed was correct about diet & disease has been getting turned upside-down ever since I "discovered" this community!

Uh, anyone whose heart beat wakes them at night ... have you been checked for sleep apnea?

I speak as someone whose sleep quality/quantity and physical/emotional state improved massively when I was diagnosed. AND as someone who occasionally still falls asleep watching TV and laying on the sofa. If I sleep without my cpap I am usually awakened by a pounding, throbbing heart after an apnea event.

I encourage you to look into that.

I have--mine is more like "night anxiety" before I even get to sleep. My fiance wears a cpap to bed--and he's experienced what you speak of. Kinda scares me, so I try not to fall asleep until I know he's got it on!
