Hot flash remedy...possibly?
I posted on a couple other threads that this past TOM, I used "alkaline water" (water with baking soda or fresh lime/lemon) to reduce cramping.
I was at a neighbor's house this weekend, and her aunt was complaining about hot flashes. It seemed like she was getting them every 20-30 minutes.
I thought--hey, maybe alkalizing will help? I don't get hot flashes myself, but it's got something to do with hormones & girly parts, right?
Aunt was very receptive to it, because she's doing some kind of vegetarian*/alkalizing cleanse (lots of veggies like kale & Swiss chard, no processed food, no sugar, no dairy, etc) and has done that sort of thing many times before. My friend didn't have any baking soda in the house, but there was part of a lime...so she had that!
I went home shortly after that, but I just heard that it totally stopped her hot flashes for the rest of the day!!!
Now, if someone isn't doing an alkaline diet like this lady, it might take more than 1/2 a lime to affect the pH balance. But it could be something to try?
(*I'm wondering if the vegetarian diet might be aggravating her symptoms; our bodies use cholesterol to make hormones. My friend is going to suggest that she at least eat an egg or two every day, while she's eliminating dairy.)

That would be fantastic. But in my experience there is only one thing that stops hot flashes- Oestrogen. Never get a single one now unless I break off my BHRT for three days as they say you should sometimes. Day three and I start getting the goosebumps and shivers when I'm actually warm.
The body is weird. Still don't understand why we have to get this thermostat chaos just because we run out of eggs.
