I would say to have a good UD that is very satisfying and then a good DD. I tell myself on DDs that I am postponing food - so eat my cals in the evening. Anything I really want I promise my self the next day on an UD. Doesn't always work but most of the time.....

The first 2 DDs will be hardest!

Good luck - I think it is a great way of eating.

I would start with an up day.

I would be sure to plan, plan, plan my meals ahead. Know your up day and down day calorie allowances and stay within those. I would definitely use a calorie counter like myfitnessplan or some other you like.

I would take my measurements before I started so that I wouldn't have to count on all my weight loss info to come from my scale.

Know that going into it that the first couple of weeks can be a bit harder until the appetite suppression kicks in.

Good luck!!

My advice is to be accurate in your calorie counting. I do most of my counting by weight -- I weigh what I eat and log my food into a calorie tracker online. After doing this for awhile it gets easier to guesstimate foods when eating out.

Also, and don't be afraid to eat the calories on the UD. It's the swing from UD to DD that seems to get the metabolism doing well.

Have some things on hand for the DD. I like to break my DDs up into lots of small amounts: 100 cal breakfast, a couple 100 cal snacks, and the rest in some sort of dinner. Some people try to hold off until later in the day. Find a way that works for you. It gets easier after you become familiar with the DD routine. It's really not bad and the losses are magic!

Wishing you much magic!

Hi Meek lovely to see you back.

All the above have said, and come to the JUDdD board often.

Welcome back! Lots of good advice here - you have the basis. The only thing I would add is, if DD is easy then bravo - it's all good.

If you feel you have to eat more calories the first few DDs, have extra food planned in small (like 25 or 50 cal) amounts. Sometimes a few nibbles of protein or veg or bread is all it takes to quiet the hunger beast. I still keep a baked chicken breast in my fridge to nibble (although, I usually end up incorporating it into a cheesy chicken UD).

Hello. Thank you all for responding. Great advice. I will take heed.

My first day (UD) went well. I over ate by -177; cals allowed are 2144/429. I am still stuffed from yesterday and the thought of food is making me feel sick.

Today is first DD. Menu as follows:

B: 2 cups coffee
L: Chicken Noodle soup
S: 2 cups coffee
D: 2 tilapia packs (90 cals per pack) and steamed brocolli.

Total Cals: 418 out of 429

11 fat - 45 protein - 29 carbs

Do you all pay attention to micros? Should I? I don't want this to be harder than it suppose to be.

plan, precook, and take pterostilbene for the first couple weeks back. it really made a difference for me when I jumped back on the rotation wagon! Also, I am a huge proponent of l-carnitine at the moment. Even with years of lowcarb/dieting and people saying it helped with hunger etc I never tried it. Regretting that one.

Calories are what you need to look at. Don't worry about the rest for now.

Lovely DD Meek. Cals is all you need to concern yourself with, but healthy eating is always good.

Thanks, Meek, it really is that simple at the end of the day. Respect the numbers and try not to be impatient.

For now, I strongly encourage you to stick to learning the basic dance step: rotate, rotate, rotate. Oh, definitely log any info that interests you! I frequently log how I feel an hour, two hours, etc after each meal (identified some foods I did not realize I have trouble digesting that way).

Once that old JUDDD magic is firmly established, JUDDD can be as complex or as simple as you want it to be. Tango, waltz, skip-to-my-lou.....

As you can see from the various discussions burning, bouncing, and popping all over this forum, the basic JUDDD framework of DD/UD rotation frees us to explore, investigate, experiment, and just basically enjoy the pursuit of good food, good health, good weight.

(this place really rocks)
