Well, I screwed that one up...

Today is an UD - and we wanted to take the kids out to celebrate the last day of school. DH also had oral surgery yesterday, so we needed to go somewhere with relatively soft food, so picked Italian.

I saved up plenty of calories, looked at the menu beforehand....all that good stuff.

When deciding what to order, I couldn't remember what was what, so went on ***, kind of held my phone low and scanned through the choices, picked something and enjoyed it. Also had a cocktail and shared part of a desert with my son - feeling pretty good about it overall. Knew I might be maybe 100 calories over - but all in all pretty close for a really nice dinner.

Came home and went to put it all into my *** account and apparently in my hurry to decide, I had looked at the wrong line or something when looking up the nutrition info and 1/4 of the small serving (they serve family style) of what I had (which was about what I ate) WAS 1,072 CALORIES!!!!! Holy carp! We brought at least half of it home, too (my husband and son also ate from it and we still had that much left) - but I won't be touching THAT again.

OMG....I am SO far over for the day - talk about an UUAD - DANGIT!

Going to have a very clean dd tomorrow AND go for a nice long walk.

Something tells me you will be fine.

Especially since you brought half of it home. You know the thing I like about this plan, is we have the option of having a few of these UUAAD with our Sirt-1 going full force.

It sounds like you had a lovely family dinner. I wouldn't worry about it. Life is short.

We really did have a lovely time - it was just SO shocking to see that number - holy cow! That means that entire serving (which is a small - although even a small is admittedly pretty big) had over 4,000 calories in it! Ay carumba!!

It's funny - sure I felt full after the meal but after reading that I felt even FULLER!

What was it?

An occasional massive calorie binge resets your metabolism. The water weight gain is horrible I know but give it 4 days and you'll be back on track.

It is tragic, isn't it?

I mean, having an UUAD meal and not knowing, so not reveling in and enjoying every bite as a planned gobble-gobble, is soooooo sad!

You will be alright. And, yes, what WAS it????

Been there. We went to Johnny Carinos the other day when my sister was in and their lunch portion of spicy chicken pasta had 1300 calories The problem is I didn't have the lunch portion so it was BAD. You'll be back on track soon.

It was the Penne ala Vodka (Penne in vodka sauce).

Good - but won't be ordering it again!

Okay, what the heck did they put into the Penne ala Vodka that made it come to over 4,000 calories?? That stuns me! It never ceases to amaze me how high restaurant calorie counts can be. I used to go to a certain restaurant and order the ribs meal. When they started adding calorie counts to the menu, I saw that my favorite meal was over 2,000 calories!! It took my breath away!

What an eye opener. Thanks for sharing your story.

It is truly amazing how high the calories can climb up to at restaurants, which I'd never really looked at this closely before JUDDD. A friend of mine used to make a fantastic penne alla vodka overflowing with heavy cream, butter and bacon/prosciutto, parmesan etc, so I'm not that surprised that the calories are sky high at a restaurant.

Sounds like you had a good time though, and in the end, it's just one meal. Ignore the water weight and get back to some good DDs and you'll be fine.

Another way to look at it is you have thrown a high carb day into your diet, which can lead to a lovely drop once you resume your usual WOE. I have seen this happen many times on this very forum, so best of luck, give it a few days and I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

PS You are making great progress, the big picture of your WL tells the real story
