DD Snacks?

I eat celery with Walden Farms dressing (10 cals/stalk, 0 cal dressing), but I don't have any other good go-to foods for a quick tide-me-over to my next meal.

Got any good ones?

If I'm needing a snack, the first thing I do is drink about 16 ounces of liquid. Often that fills me up. I tend to get hungry when I'm really thirsty.

If I still need food, these are my favorites.

Microwave popcorn...those little bags that are 100 calories.

Cheese stick...70 calories.

Dill pickle...15 calories.

I also have two of the chewable fiber tablets every down day. They are 15 calories, and with a large glass of crystal light, fill me up for quite a while.

Aldi Foods used to have a 0-calorie beverage that came in about three different flavors. It had added color, but wasn't carbonated, and it was sweetened with Splenda. It really was darned tasty, and I'd freeze ice cubes of the stuff, then pop a bunch of cubes into my blender, top it up with more of the fluid beverage, and make a fabulous icy slushy refreshing beverage. My favorite was the strawberry kiwi or the strawberry lemonade, whichever one they carried that season, and sometimes I'd pop a couple of strawberries into the blend.

Then one day I opened my latest bottle and the taste was beyond horrid! It was so disgusting it was whatever word is beyond disgusting. They had changed the formula/recipe, and it was no longer being made with Splenda. I looked closer, and even the label no longer proclaimed that. And the ingredients now differed too.

I got my money back for the four bottles, and never bought flavored 0-calorie beverage from there again. Now I buy other Splenda sweetened 0-cal beverages from other grocery stores. Interestingly enough, that single thing now has me shopping more often at the other stores, just because I'm there to pick up my 0-cal beverage that I can make frozen slushy out of.

But, wow! A huge glass of frozen fruit-flavored slushy at ZERO calories is a real saver on Down Days occasionally. And a real cooler in the warm weather, sitting out on your patio. Try something like that.

Sugar-free Fudgcicles... 40 cals in each, with the added bonus of getting your chocolate fix .

SUGAR FREE JELLO.... You can buy them in the snack pack for 5 cals per cup or buy a whole box and you make at home... and it's 10 cals for a 1/2 of a cup.

Pickles. 10 calories or less per spear, depending on brand.

Gerber Graduates Puffs! They come in flavors like banana. You can have something like 80 of them for only 25 calories. I was surpised at how good they are to munch on!

My friend discovered Arctic Zero ice cream, something you'd probably find in a specialty health food store. It's a bit weird - basically a frozen protein drink, but as long as you just want a snack, the fact that you can eat an entire pint for only 150 calories makes up for that. If you are specifically craving ice cream, I'd probably go for a smaller serving of the real thing. I have yet to try this.

I eat one to two ounces of Applegate Farms black forest ham for 25-50 calories. It really does the trick!

Another vote for cucumber slices. I cut mine kinda thin and layer them in a container w/ purple onion sliced very thin, drizzle with a little apple cider vinegar, add a little water then twist the pepper mill until it looks 'right'. Stick in the fridge and I graze on that.

Zucchini and yellow squash give me a lot of 'chew' factor, volume for my belly and loads of vitamins and minerals and they're very low in calories, too.

One cup of cherry tomatoes is about 30 calories, another good choice. Tomatoes in general I snack on a lot, green peppers, too.

Can ya' tell my garden is going good?

But those are traditional "diet munchies" and may not be what you're looking for.

As Dawn mentioned, Laughing Cow Lite cheese wedges are a really good "calorie buy". I'm usually really picky about low/no fat food and don't usually like them much, but these are very satisfying and flavorful. 35 calories a wedge. Use a Special K cracker to dip with (at 30 crackers for 110 calories and they're actually not bad!) and that is more than enough to satisfy me.

Those petite kosher dill pickles are great when you need a blast of flavor and calories are minimal. Like all pickles, they have a lot of salt, so I don't eat a bunch, but just a few will do me fine.

It's hot where I live and those Blue Bell SF popsicles at 15 calories each are life savers! They're also good if you want something sweet.

My tendency to want to graze and snack has gone WAY down in the 8 weeks I've been JUDDDing. If I can have *exactly* what I want on an UD, I'm far less tempted to want to pick around on a DD, a genuine benefit of JUDDD as far as I'm concerned!

Thank you!!! These are fantastic ideas. I am definitely making a Crystal Lite smoothie tonight. I am also a fan of the Laughing Cow cheese wedges. I typically eat 1 with 1/2 of a Sarah Lee sandwhich thin (85 total cals).

this with the laughing cow cheese is my go to.

I'm a fast metabolizer in general so I stick to low carb on DD to keep me full.

I also LOVE zevia soda. It's delicious and flavored with stevia. It actually does distract me enough to move on.

I also do a "ham salad" with TJ's canadian bacon (60 cals in 3 slices) chopped pickle and a wee bit of french dressing. It comes in at 75 cals and totally satisfies me!

I love the slushie idea and will be rocking that this summer for sure.

I have been on JUDD only 1 week and these helped me:

-2 walnut half (13 cal each), for some reason they filled me up because I ate it very slowly

-1/2 cup slices cucumber sprinkled with salt ( 8 cal)

-hard boiled egg whites sprinkled with salt (17 cal)

I find the Lipton Cup of Soup at 50 cals to be a perfect snack around bedtime. Pretty filling and keeps me warm on a DD.

I had a 100 cal bag of popcorn yesterday, and it was just what I needed to tide me over until my soup at dinner. Thanks Luna!
