Down Days really ARE getting easier!

A little over a month in and today I skipped breakfast; lunch was 3 c. stir-fried cabbage with 2 slices bacon; dinner was 12 medium shrimp stir-fried with red pepper, jalapeno, onion and a little chicken bouillon seasoned with 1 tsp. soy sauce, a dash of garlic and ginger and slightly thickened over a bag os tofu shirataki noodles (with a cuke/tomato salad). I'm stuffed!! But best of all I wasn't hungry all day long like I usually am on DD's!! I was noticeably not hungry until 5pm BUT i DIDN'T ACTUALLY EAT DINNER UNTIL 7PM!!! I usually have hunger pangs around 3pm on DD's and have to hit the gluc pudding to get through the afternoon, but I didn't touch gluc pudding today (yet, anyway ). I'm real pleased I'm finding a way to do DD's, keep strictly under 500 cals AND....... without being hungry and thinking about "what can I eat?" all day long! FINALLY!!

Started JUDDD 10/12/11 after LC.
MAINTENANCE since 11/12/11, & have lost more weight. I shake things up all the time with my version of Pirate Jenny's MUDDD, my "Fast 5" & other IF. ...low-moderate fat....and eating "healthy" foods 75+% of the time which lets me have real life and indulgences too I've reached my goals, improved my health & appearance, and enjoy my lifetime woe!

I can really see DD's as doable, and almost effortlessly if I skip breakfast. I was never very big on eating first thing in the morning all my life, so I'm actually enjoying skipping breakfast. DH fixes himself toast or cereal on DD's. We eat a normal breakie on UP days together. I can DO this!!

Happy to hear it! I'll be happy with all the "easier" there can be! Even though nothing has been this easy before, some of my DD have been a little trying, today though pretty good!

They will, Monica. I think the key is finding the right foods that personally fill you up and keep you feeling full. And what will do that is different for everybody.

I find if I have some green tea early in the day, the rest of the day is better. I think it's important to figure out what works, a little experimentation goes a long way.

the gluc pudding-- is that 1tsp of gluc to 1c of liquid? I think I saw that somewhere?

That's the recipe people are quoting, and I started out with that forumla. But I don't like how thick it gets so I started making it with only a rounded 1/2 tsp. to 1 c. liquid for a smoother, less thick mixture. You might like it made thicker than me.

Glad the DD's are getting easier for you, too, now, Mttemple.

I agree too, I have found DD's have gotten much easier. Although I don't know how much of that is due to getting used to it, and how much is due to eating glucomannan for two 'meals' - I usually make a low-calorie glucomannan pudding (20-40 calories) for breakfast just to have the 'feel' of eating, and then eat 100 calories of soup + shirataki noodles for lunch. Anyway, I'm glad I found glucomannan!

It's the root of the konjac yam. It's all fiber and can't be digested so it is used as a "filler" or bulk with little to no calories. The powder can be used as a thickener.

May I ask here, why do we need to pee so much on DD? I didn't even get to drink a lot of water yesterday but I spent lots of time in the bathroom especially at night.

I don't think I pee anymore on DD's than on UD's That's all related to how much water I drink and how much sodium I consume on that day.

They will! Once you get a DD menu and/or pattern they'll be (mostly*) effortless and you'll actually look forward to them. Although I love UD's, they are actually harder because I have to make myself eat. Who'd a thunk?

It'll happen!
