I just remembered!!!

Today is an UD!!!! Holy carp!! I had a wonderful DD yesterday and just woke up this morning feeling so happy and so light. Drank my coffee. Had ice water with lemon in it. It's almost lunch time and I was just thinking about having a cold, hard boiled egg which sounds good and I was figuring what else I can get in for 400 to 500 calories today.

Then I remembered! It's not a DD! Did that ever happen to you? Do you ever forget it's an UD??? This is definitely the first time it's happened to me and I think it's funny and proof of the appetite control magic. Don't you think??

DDs are not as difficult as they once were but so far I've never mistook an UD for a DD.

I have had to mark my calendar to remind my self of which day it is.. thats because i have learned to embrace that hungry feeling and learn to ignore it and drink more water thru it,, and yes there are times it happens on a UD and i have to remind my self,,"oh thats right.. i get to eat today"!!! woohoo. lol

Thanks Yam Yam, he is as good as can be expected when you are 95. I fear he will never live at home again. As always at this age there are so many things that go wrong after a fall, operation and the anaesthetic. Each day he may be a little better in one way but worse in another.

He is confused too and not eating and drinking well.

Yes I can't stay away from here and things have eased a bit as his other son is around again for a while.

I don't think it's ever happened to me. But there are times I wake up on an UD and am just not hungry.

Kissa, praying you are able to find a good place for him. My grandmother is 95 and thankfully, still in good health. But very tottery, and we worry about her falling. Glad things have calmed slightly.

I have U and D marked on my at home calendar and on my office calendar so I can plan ahead. I have reached the point where I have to be cautious because I cook breakfast every morning for DH even on my DD's so I don't want to mess up and forget although eggs would fit into a DD if I weren't doing liquid fasting DD's. LOVE JUDDD.

Sometimes I can't remember which day it is. The first time it happened, I realized this really is a way of life instead of just another diet. It's liberating. I mostly tend to keep breakfast and lunch fairly low calorie both days so I can enjoy a decadent evening on my UDs, so if I forget, it won't hurt me too badly as long as I remember before dinner.

Glad to know his other son is there to give you and your husband somewhat of a respite. Dehydration (in the elderly especially) can be a contributing factor in mental fogginess and confusion. Hoping if he can get more fluids in, some of that will disappear. Hang in there, friend!

"Normal" is highly over-rated!

And to answer your question, Yam-Yam, I've done that, too. I can get so wrapped up in a project outside and then - WHAM - it suddenly dawns on me at 2 or 3 in the afternoon that it's an UD and I need to eat. I'm just not hungry, not feeling like I need to eat because I'm weak or have hunger pains. So then I have to figure out how to get 1950 calories in without really stuffing myself. I know a lot of it is because I'm involved in something I truly love (gardening and landscaping) and my mind is fully focused on that right now. I'm pretty sure that once it gets really hot and I'm not outside for 10 or 11 hours every day I'll think about food more.

Sheridan: Good thoughts! As I was reading about how you love gardening I could just feel the joy of it in your words. Made me think that some diets can make us so tired and cranky and obsessed about food that we don't have the energy to really immerse ourselves in things we really enjoy. Not so with this, huh??

I do the same. I can't remember from day to day which day it is.

And then there's the added benefit: When someone asks me to lunch, 3 weeks from now, and it's a DD, I say, that's not a good day for me. How about the next day?
