Overnight shift question...
I have a friend who works a nursing overnight shift and she is very interested in starting JUDDD. This may be a dumb question, but we were wondering if her UD/DD should be from 12 am to 12 pm or from her "waking up" time at around 7 p.m. to 7 the next night? We were unsure of the benefit of the sleep pattern in the rotation.
Are there any late-night shift JUDDDers out there willing to advise?

I don't know if there's a "should" for this scenario, but if her schedule is very regular, she could go by her wake-up time as the beginning of her "day".
If her schedule (or even just her sleep schedule--I used to work 2nd shift, I know how it can be! And the weekends...omg!) is more erratic, she can pick any 24 hour period to be her "day". It doesn't have to start at 12...could be 2am, 4pm, whatever works!

Some people follow JUDDD - with rotations that start at any time of the day. Enabling them to have some of the day as a DD and some as an UD - if that makes sense?
Ie - say your Rotation was 3pm - 3pm.
ie start the DD at 3pm.
Dinner = DD
Breakfast = DD
Lunch = DD
the UD starts at 3pm
Dinner = UD
Breakfast = UD
Lunch = UD
The only thing with this is that the 'fasting' part of the day is only 24 hours not the 36 hours that you get with fasting over night as well as during the day.
However, for your friend - I assume she sleeps during the day - so she would get the 36 hour benefits.
7pm - Breakfast
12pm - Lunch
6am - Dinner
(or however she eats)
On UD she eats for 12 hours and then on DD she 'fasts' for 36 hours.
The only times she'll have to think about it is her weekends - when I assume she'll have normalish days.

Heres my 2 cents!!! After 12 years of working midnights I learned also. Tell your friend, on her UD's to reverse her eating. Eat her heavy meal at breakfast and her lighter meal for dinner. The way her breaks should line up at work to how she will eat at home...its better!!!
Edit to add: I didnt do JUDDD while working midnights, but I learned this from Low Carb!
Current weight: 175 BMI: Obese
1st goal 163 puts me at Overweight!
2nd goal 139 puts me at Healthy weight!
3rd goal 125 puts me at Goal!
Long term, realistic goal....no medications!
