So what is everyone planning for Easter dinner?

I cheated this year and bought alot of the frozen just reheat stuff!!! So busy and thought what the heck!!

I am making turkey wraps. Thicker sliced turkey breast that you wrap in stuffing and bake. I also got a really tiny ham.

Mashed potatoes for hubby and son. My daughter and I got a smaller tray of sweet potatoe casserole for us.

Then corn, gravy and rolls. I also got coconut cream pie and banana cream pie that you thaw and serve.

Nothing fancy, but yeah its an UD. So I can have a little bit of all of it!! Usually we go to either hubby's sister's or his brother's. Or sometimes to my parents house. But this year we are just doing our own thing! The whole family get togethers are going by the way side. His family is drifting since his parents passed away. And with everything going on with my family. It will just be nice to stay home!!

The kids decorated thier eggs tonight. And my 15 year old daughter asked for an egg hunt sunday morning. I had to tell her no!! lol!! I already went shopping so I didnt have anything to throw together a quick hunt. She said thats ok just put money in the eggs. lol!!! She is so funny!!! Hahaha!!

Not many here care for hard boiled eggs so we've never really done dyed eggs. We have brunch at church followed by an egg hunt so with all that candy I don't feel like I need to have more at home. Though we will shop the half price candy on Monday and save it for taking to the movies and special treats throughout the summer. I'm so cheap. LOL

For dinner, instead of our traditional ham we are having breaded pork chops. Yum. Along with the traditional potato casserole, green beans cooked with bacon, homemade rolls, and coconut cake for dessert, decorated with a few jelly beans (actually, this year I got peanut butter M&M's in pastel colors) and small chocolate bunnies for fun. And for those who don't like coconut I'm adding carrot cake cupcakes this year.

Definitely going to be a free day. LOL

Usually Easter is at my Gma's, but this year Mom & Dad are having it at their house to keep Gma from doing too much.

My brother is going to cook up some 4H chickens from his kids (not sure how he's cooking them). Everyone will bring dishes and desserts. I'm bringing green beans and probably scalloped potatoes. Maybe a rhubarb tart.

Enjoy your feasting, Everyone!

We're thinking about roast lamb on Monday too!! Love me some 'trimmings'.

Do you think it will work in a 'roasting bag' - don't want to dirty the oven or the convection microwave!!!

Easter should be a nice family day

we are having ham, with the usual sides, mashed taters, sweet taters, green beans and who knows what else..

i think we are gonna color eggs... but instead of hiding them we will crack them all around, THEN color... makes BEAUTIFUL deviled eggs.

Oh thats a great idea!! I will remember this for next year! Kids already did them so cant this year. My daughter found a dinosaur decoration kit and thats what they did.

Everyone seems to have some wonderful food idea's too!!! Maybe next year I will plan better and have a few more dishes and maybe have my parents over!

Spending Easter Sunday at our son's home and will be having ham, turkey w/stuffing.

Sides of potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, mushroom/onion/garlic concoction, olive salad, stuffed artichokes and varying other green salads.

Don't know what others may be bringing, but except for the ham, that's our offering.

Dessert will be pineapple upside down cake made by Chef Richard (our cousin). Brownies for the kids!

There will be quite a large crowd but there won't be any lack of food.

Roast leg of lamb, mint sauce, and a great green bean casserole with stove top stuffing (about a billion calories alone).

I'm thinking of making mini baked Alaska for dessert.

YUM!!! Everyone's food sounds so delicious!

Okay, this is going to sound really bad, but in the spirit of full disclosure . . .

I don't cook. DH does most of the cooking or we have sandwiches or eat out, but he gets a break on holidays. We have no family in our area, so it's just him, me, and Keira.

Pretty much every holiday, we go to the casino on the way up to Yosemite, and eat at their buffet. It's really good and has all the traditional foods for whatever the holiday is. We went there for Thanksgiving the last few years, Christmas last year, and will be heading there again tomorrow for Easter.

We find it's particularly appropriate on Thanksgiving, because we're spending time with "the natives" (I have a significant amount of Blackfoot Indian in my genes) and giving back to them at the same time (for we generally lose at the tables)!

That sounds nice, Dawn.

I think lamb would cook up fine in a roasting bag. I forgot I had some in the freezer. Will have to save it for another day as my stomach is set on those pork chops. LOL Got them at a really good salrice pe and I can't remember the last time we had them. Everybody's food sounds yummy!

I am making a pork roast in the crock-pot, onions on the bottom, salt, pepper, thyme, and on the top brown sugar!!! I will put that on just before leaving for church, after chruch we will go out for breakfast ( church has breakfast, but NO ONE washes their hands that helps with that - I helped one time and I was the only one that did wash ). It will be much better to eat out then at our church!! When we get home, I will add some potatoes to the crockpot and maybe saurkraut!?! Having cherry pie too!

It is just hubby and me on Easter, had our ham last Sunday with family!

I think we are gonna go to Furrs cafeteria for a good home cooked lunch, then maybe cook out something on the grill tonight. We dont really have any major plans. My 6 yr old will be spending the day with his dad so its just me and my SO.

Totally non-traditional. Older DD is up from KC and she wanted the spaghetti squash recipe (an old favorite from her childhood). So spaghetti squash, italian sausage, tomatoes, zucchini, basil, parmesan cheese! Plus maybe some frozen garlic bread. Yummy.

All the kids are grown now and we didn't even buy easter candy or dye eggs or anything.

Sorry Vicky I missed this. The lamb will do fine in a bag, not the roast potatoes though!
