You have to do what you have to do. Many people start higher and gradually go down. I sarted low and stayed low but I eat three small meals.
I do not try to put off eating. I have breakfast at 5:30 am which holds me until noon. Protein on DD's makes a lot of difference. 10 raw baby carrots are only 35 calories which are my go to if I feel I need to chew on something. It will work out even if you go over 500 your first DD.

Nope, you won't ruin it. You will only ruin it if you quit completely. Do what you need to do to get through the day. Some days are just hungrier than others. You probably wouldn't want to do it every dd (unless you are ok with slower losses), but every now and then, it just isn't a problem.

I have stuck with 600 calorie DD's since the start, and am losing just fine. Now, some days I find I am a bit lower (450-500) and some a bit higher (one or two have been up to 700 or so), but somehow psychologically the 500 limit was just too low for me to commit to.
As long as it is working (and it most definitely is!) I am going to stick with it!

This is my 3rd DD (I've lost 3 lbs already) and the first two were easy. Yesterday I had to struggle to eat close to my UD cal hahaha go figure.
When do you guys recalculate your UD/DD calories? do you have to do it for each weight or just once a month? |

I find I panic if I use up most of the calories before evening. I know I'll have to eat to get to sleep if I'm hungry so I save them till as late as I can - around 4.00 pm. I was at 600/700 for two of my first 6 down days and still lost a little despite having gone in as a low carber and eaten as much bread as I could find in the house on my first UP days.
I was starving at first on 600 but now the hunger is much less. The gene kicks in. So give it time and try your best. |

Sometimes something apparently hormonal happens and DD is unbelievably hungry day. Protein and a little fat may help. Volume may help. Usually whatever it is goes away after one DD.
Most of us recalculate calories when weight loss AND inches lost both stall. Many of us never recalculate and just keep losing. Don't worry about it is pounds away.

It is gone and it ain't coming back! JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does. |

I've been doing a modified JUDDD because I had such a rough time with 500 calorie down days in the past. Trying to work my way down, but last week I did 800-850 down days and 1800-1900 up days and lost 3 lbs. I'm 206 right now.

You won't ruin it.
Funny, because I seriously look forward to Mondays usually being down days for me, and they are easier on work days Consensus seems to be don't adjust your up day calories unless you completely stop losing. If your body is happy with the up day number why train it to live on less?
