WOE: Low Carb-IF/cngd d to JUDDD/lc on 2/9/12 (230)
Start Date: Feb 8, 2010 IF ON 8-14-11
I AM AMAZED....

About four years ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Since then, I have been low carb, and kept it pretty well under control with the help of Metformin. But, if I ate carbs, my bs would go up. It has been as high as 189 after a few carbs in a meal. I have been doing JUDDD since 2/9/12, and been keeping to the LC woe along with doing Juddd. Well, today was an UD for me, so thought I would experiment a little.

BREAKFAST

scrambled eggs with cheese
hash brown potatoes (have not had potatoes in 4 years)
8oz carb countdown milk

LUNCH

pork bbque sandwich on BUN with slaw (not had this in 4 years)
salad w/rasberry vinergrette dressing

SNACK

2 mini corn muffins with a piece of a weiner baked in them (CORN???ME???
A handful of microwave popcorn (not had in 4 years)

SUPPER

2 cups of canned chili (no beans)
64 fritos (yes, I counted them)
7 cubes of cheddar cheese

My point of this LONG post is to report my BS findings.

after 2 cups coffee w/HWC, and before meds BS 99
35 minutes after breakfast 147
1 hour after breakfast 131
1 hour after snacks 99
30 minutes after supper 123
1 hour after supper 122

Like I said in my headings....I am simply amazed at how JUDDD has held my BS readings to normal levels. Oh, and when I first got up this morning, it was 109, which is lower than it has ever been in the mornings! It is usually 130-135.

I only hope this continues to be the case!

Carole

This totaled 1890 of my 1954 cals I'm to have on UD

WOE: JUDDD!!!
Others have reported similar wonderful results from following JUDDD!!!!! Even the modest low calorie day of mini-fasting we do has been shown to improve our responses, reduce our metabolic resistance, lower blood sugars, etc.

I wish others with metabolic syndrome, etc. could experience *the cure* aka JUDDD.

I'm thrilled to read of this wonderful health improvement you are experiencing now. I certainly expect it to continue for you. Really makes you appreciate this way of eating for far more than mere weight loss, doesn't it!

Awesome stuff, Carole! Looks normal to me! I was reading on the bloodsugar 101 blog, and according to it, your reading are A-OK!

I was freaked out about my readings last Thurs. until I educated myself on that website and found that a little spike within an hour is fine as long as it's to the normal range in an hour (like your readings). And so I am doing great too.

Please keep us updated on this - we live for info like yours!

Congrats!

Thanks guys! Wouldn't it be fantastic if we have stumbled on a way to finally be "normal"? I haven't tried adding fruits back in, but may do that next week. And I'm still very wary of full sugar desserts, but down the road (maybe coconut cake for Easter!), I may even experiment with that. Like I said, I'm simply amazed. I will continue to monitor and report.

I NEVER got these results on low carb alone!

Carole

I know! Isn't it exciting that a body can be returned to functioning as it is designed to do by following this diet plan?

I'm really going to be excited to delve more into this aspect of JUDDD, as we keep hearing more and more reports of this result! Pretty exciting!

This is exciting, so happy! I got up today to a BS reading of 106...that's a new morning low for me. I am thrilled, to say the least. Going to see how a DD affects it today. When I was first told I was diabetic, my fasting BS was 195. Of course, I do take metformin, but even on that, my readings have not been this low. I just feel like something wonderful is going on!

Now that you mention it, although I still try to stay as LC as possible, when I do go above the carb limit (like the donut the other day) I don't get the immediate insulin reaction, the achy legs, then the drained loopy feeling, that I used to.

Hi GWEEBLES! I don't think that I've welcomed you to the "dark side", . Good to have you with us.

Just a little update about today...It is a DD for me, and I haven't had anything to eat. I've been walking the aisles of Wal-Mart again today. Spent about 2 hours in there, and then an additional hour in Dollar Tree, and I'm like you...did not have the loopy feeling or the tired hurt legs and feet that I normally get. It is about 6:00pm, and I checked my BS and it is 99! So, not getting a really low count from not eating, and the walking. I am loving this! Going to have a cup of coffee now, and relax a minute. Will see how the coffee does on my BS, and report back in about an hour.

Good News! I drank my coffee, which usually runs my BS up, and I'm very happy to report that it went up 1 point...it was 100! I'm, of course, going to keep checking, but these results have me very hopeful. Like I said yesterday, I haven't added in fruits or desserts yet, so that may be a bust. I will add some fruits in the first of the week, and dessert of some kind later down the line (I'm talking "full sugar" dessert, not my lo-carb ones.) Keep your fingers crossed!

It all may not happen this fast, Carole.

But the results you have had this early in your JUDDDing are certainly wonderful and promising.

Pat, they are very promising! I will keep a close check and report my findings with different food items, that in the past have run my blood sugar up. My brother, who is a year older than I am, and also is Type 2, said he is going to follow my findings, and if this is still holding true in a month, and I'm still losing weight and clothes sizes, and BS continues to be good, he will jump on the bandwagon with me. I think I will get the book and mail it to him...he lives in TN, so not really close to visit a lot.

Thanks for all the support!

Do that, Carole.

I'll bet your brother will enjoy the book immensely, and certainly be able to understand what you are doing on this plan. Copy and past a few of the studies that get posted here on our Forum and send them to him in emails.. certainly those pertaining to increasing insulin sensitivity, etc.

More findings---I ate a bag of 100 calorie popcorn last night---BS after 1 hour was 143, after 2 hours was 121. To me, that is progress! BS this morning was 101. It is gradually going down on my morning readings. Still very hopeful! Today is an UD, so we'll see what happens.

Carole, this is wonderful news!

If you test some food or treat and your bs zooms, wait a month and try again. Those lovely little sirtuin squigglies are progressive and cumulative.

I did not "lose" weight. I evicted it. It is gone and it ain't coming back!

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

Interesting findings, and so wonderful! I think I may be beginning to see the same thing. When I was checking sugars when I first started on JUDDD and began experimenting with carbs, it didn't go well. I was ok with small amounts of grain, or 1/2 a baked potato, but ANYTHING with sugar in it all send my numbers soaring.

I kept track last week visiting my mom, and even eating Rice Dream ice cream on an empty stomach I was able to stay in normal limits.

I still won't indulge in treats like that everyday, but it would be nice if I can have something like that on special occasions without worry about the effect on bs.

I think the healing and normalizing JUDDD can do for our health does build over time.

I expect it's a bit much to expect JUDDD to wave a wand and make everything work perfectly within our bodies immediately, but when you read through the list of wonderful stuff that fasting can do for a person, it's pretty amazing.

I think that the better we do our fasts, the more we can expect of the improved health aspect of JUDDD.

I'm so glad to read that you are yet another one who seems to be experiencing a lessening of insulin resistance!

Well, last night I had a pear tart that my DIL had made, and a 100 cal bag of popcorn, and my BS went up to 173! I think it was the pear tart, made with canned cresent dough, fresh pears, brown sugar and butter. It was really sweet. 2 hours later, it was down to 140. Not good...will probably hold off on sugarary sweets for a while. Don't like spiking my BS!

OK. On JUDDD at this time, you know exactly where you sit.. You know how far you have come in lessening your insulin resistance and bs response. No need to push it. You have a whole lovely future ahead. I expect it will continue to improve over where it is right now, and this is wonderful even now! So skip pear tarts for awhile.

Thanks Pat...don't think I will add in ANY desserts for a while. The thing about desserts, I can live without them just fine! I've never really been a sweet eater (unlike my 95yo mom, who lives for sweets). So, will stick with what I know works till farther down the line. I'm good with that!

I hope some of the others come on board with their input on their BS.

Carole what interesting results. You are doing so brilliantly. I really feel that all you JUDDDers with D2 and other BS issues need a special thread.

You are mostly doing so incredibly well and it could help many others on LCF who might wonder about JUDDD but be too nervous to try it with D2 et.

I do know that it hasn't worked for everyone sadly, e.g. Stardust, but then nothing works for everyone.

Love following your progress.
