Food to eat when you are bored of Low Carb foods?

What are some of the recipes or foods you eat when you are tired of meat, veggies and cheese? Foods that trick you into thinking you are eating a treat but are actually low carb? I am in a rut and bored of the usual, which is my fault I am sure for not being creative.

Hit me with some ideas!

When I'm sick of low carb foods I can usually still eat the following to kind of snap me out of it:

Celery stuffed with SF peanut butter
Celery stuffed with Cream cheese
Raw Red Bell Pepper slices dipped in Ranch dressing
Avocado slices sprinkled w/lime juice & a little salt

I found that asian veggies all together in a rich savory broth are delicious. I love mushroom, so I'll fry some big ones in butter then toss then into a fish broth with the skinny ones and the wavy ones and some bean sprouts and snap peas and it feels like I'm eating the appetizer at a fancy restaurant.

Oopsies are fun. I like Oopsie danish, where you whip up and egg and cream cheese and spread it in the middle of a half baked oopsie , bake a moment and put a dollop of jam on top and bake it till done. it's such a treat. Also oopsie french toast, or oopsie caramel toast is good too. he caramel toast is diabetisweet in a skillet with buter and caramel davinci till it browns, then you put the oopsie in on top to wipe it up onto the oopsie, then you LET IT COOL FIRST, before taking a crunchy sweet buttery bite.

Hi,

I have been enjoying the Chia seed beverage posted, except I have been making it as Chia Seed Pudding. I have been making it by using 1 cup 'milk' (coconut milk diluted to the consistency of milk) + 3 tbsp chia seeds + sweetner + any kind of fruit or flavouring and then leaving it to sit overnight in the refrigerator so the chia seeds soak up the liquid and it is eatable. Also sometimes reducing the amount of chia seeds.

Pickles and other pickled vegetables. I get "naughty" and have some carrots! lol Cantaloup melon or strawberries are a nice change of pace, too. And just MORE veggies!

Another vote for alfredo. I love my homemade sauce. Just heat up in a pan on the stove: 1 stick of butter; 1 cup of heavy whipping cream; 3/4 cup of parmesan cheese (the one in the green can, no fancy needed) and an optional bit of cream cheese. I have added as little as an oz and as much as 4 oz of cream cheese. It just makes it thicker so that is why it is optional. I whisk it til it is hot and pour over anything!!! It is great on chicken, shrimp, scallops, eggs at breakfast, broccoli...you name it you can top it with this alfredo. Feels so decadent and rich and fancy. I love it!!!

I will also heat up some crab meat with tons of butter. My favorite luxurious item. That makes me feel fancy too. I don't know why, but I do! Those are 2 things I turn to,to make low carb interesting.

Oh my metqa. Once I am in P3 I am all over the caramel oopsie. Cannot wait I just got a Kitchenaid mixer just so I can make those oopsies. I am so excited!!! 3 more weeks, just 3 more weeks.

Baked Egg Custard (bake in water bath at 300 degrees Fahrenheit)

A favorite treat of mine.

Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

4 cups cream (I like a mixture of hh and hwc, any proportions you wish. )
12 beaten egg yolks (You can get by with 8, but more is nice.)
Sweetener of choice (I use 4 crushed Necta Sweet saccharin tablets, the 1 grain tablets.)
Optional: vanilla, or other flavoring, or unsweetened coconut meal or flakes, or anything else one could bake....

Scald cream. Pour slowly into beaten yolks. (I usually pour a little of the scalded cream into the yolks to mix it well, and then pour in the rest of the cream. This method keeps the scalded cream from cooking the yolks.)

Pour into small canning jars or custard cups.

Put filled jars or cups into a large saucepan, pour hot water around the cups/jars, about half the height of the custard cups or jars, 2/3 high is all right. Be careful not to get water into your custard. I often put the pan in the oven and then put the water into the pan.

Carefully put large pan into oven.

Bake until a knife dipped into the middle of the cups/jars comes out clean.

I use the canning jars which easily hold six ounces. Takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes in my oven.

You can bake at a higher temperature, but the lower temperature makes a very smooth custard.


The canning jars are nice, because they are easy to store in the fridge. Custard cups are more elegant, but then one needs plastic wrap.

This recipe also makes excellent ice cream.

I made a really yummy dinner the other night that reminded me of something I would have eaten before LC. I boiled about one serving of dreamfields spaghettie (broken into quarters), steamed a bag of broccoli florets and chopped up a few grilled cicken breasts. Then I tossed everything in a skillet with some of that new Philly Cooking Cream (basil or pesto flavor I think it was) and heated it through. It was really satisfying, made several servings, and the little bit of dreamfields really made it feel like a cheat.

I am rarely bored...I eat pizza quiche and twice baked cauli..is that what you mean?..cheese crisps?

I just don't understand the notion of getting "bored" with LC foods. There are practically as many creative LC recipes out on the net (my site and many other LC websites) as there are grains of sand on the beach. Ya just have to look.

Meat, eggs, veggies and cheese provide and ENDLESS variety of titillating recipes for the creative cook.

I can't say I ever been bored with the LC choices.
Sometimes cravings weigh a bit heavier than the LC choices.

The highest carb individual item that I eat when LCing are probably tinned hotdogs.
Ironicaly not something I would eat normally.
These are one of my convenience foods, if it's too late or I'm to lazy to prepare something.
A tin of hot dogs is basically the induction carb allowance for the day

I've recently started monitoring the minerals in the food I eat. It can be a bit challenging to get calcium and potassium on this WOE.

I've recently added a few new ingredients based on specifically searching for items that are low carb-high potassium etc.

I had presumed Asparagus for instance to be fairly high carb, but it's only about 3 per 100g, 1.5g nett. I love this stuff and have been eating a fair bit of boiled asparagus with a few bits of chopped bacon and melted butter.

This AM we made coconut flour, almond flour, flax meal pancakes with blended blueberries and vanilla SF Davinci for syrup.. I found several Paleo/Primal sites that were using this mixture to do pancakes, waffles, scones.. etc.

They were good.. they didn't turn out perfect (maybe more flax next time) but they were a very nice change. About 15 carbs for breakfast so not something I will do often but again... a very nice change.
