Belgian waffle at Perkins

Oh. My. Gosh. I looked up a Belgian waffle from Perkins:

700 Cal.
33 g. fat
92 carbs

That can't be, can it????

Okay...I thought to look this up on Perkins' website and there it says 350 calories...not quite so bad!!!

I looked this up again and found that the 700 number was on the Calorie King website and it does say for one order (9.2 oz.). Interesting that the 700 number and other nutrition data is twice what Perkins gives for calories.

Glad we don't eat out much...it makes calorie counting more complicated, I think!

I went to the Perkins site and found the waffle itself, alone, to be 350 calories. But who eats it that way? It was adding syrup and powdered sugar and whipped butter that brought the total up to 700 calories. And with the additional syrup I'd have to put on it as well, I'd probably have to enter 1000 calories into my ******. Which would mean the rest of my day would have to be pretty modest.

Grace, I looked at it again and I find 350. I didn't have the suggested toppings...I had it with sugar-free syrup (20 calories/quarter cup) and real butter. Calculated the butter separately. It was still a lot of calories, but could have been so much worse. I actually don't mind sugar-free syrup and, of course, LOVE real butter!

But even so this isn't a bad thing on an UD. You figure about 450/475 calories, as you have made it, and that is a nice breakfast and would keep me full through lunch time until dinner, I'm sure.

Still think it's not too bad for an UD!

Vicky ask to see the carton in the coffee shop. And when your shipment arrives body take you measuring jug along and pour your coffee in there to get an exact measurement. For DDs you really need to know. x

Shirl, I picked up a pre packaged Belgian Waffle at my local cafe and before I opened it I checked the calories. It was 475 before I added anything.

I took it back to the counter and swapped it for a croissant. LOL.

I know what you mean about those restaurant surprises. Went w/my kids to a Johnny Rockets for lunch on Friday as a special end of school vacation treat. Ordered the single bacon cheese burger, and only ate half the bun, but when I got home and checked the calories - over 1,200!!!! Holy Crap! Good thing I had no appetite for dinner.

When I was strictly watching carbs, I wouldn't think that was too bad...to eat the burger with or without half the bun. Now while I'm watching the calories too, I'm thinking...no wonder low carb wasn't working so well for me!
