My calorie count seems crazy!

I'm thinking about trying this, I just don't know if I'm for the headache of calorie counting.

I input my information here in the calorie calculator and I'm pretty shocked at what it gave me. DD calories - 500 (I was expecting that), UD calories - 2501! That seems way high to me, I don't know how I'd pull off that many!

I don't know about the cal count, but I'm sure there are many veteran JUDDDers who will let you know about that.
But, I wanted to tell you that if you have a smart phone or something, and can get the ************ app for it (you can also use it on your computer at ************.com)--it is the easiest thing in the world to keep track of cals. I truly could not do this WOE without it. I just search for what I'm eating, and add it in!
There are other calorie trackers out there, but I just wanted to chime in that it is so easy to track calories now-a-days, compared to the horrible tracking of my old WW days!!
Good Luck!!

I weigh more than you and my calories are lower, but I could be older than you too. Most of us put in "little or no exercise" in the calculator and just figure whatever we burn with exercise is extra deficit, if that makes sense.

Another problem some people face when entering their information is that it defaults to kilos and centimeters, so you need to make sure that you're changing it to pounds and inches.

HTH!

Yep - going to say what Dawn said. At 239lbs (hoping less - but still no scales!) my UD cals are around 2200 (maybe a fraction less - but I'm trying to keep my UD cals up until I stop losing weight!)

Yep - maybe you're younger and can eat more cals. However, if it is because you've put in a higher exercise level than none (or whatever the basic is) - maybe that's why. I would still say 500 is good for your DD. Most of us choose basic level - because we figure why eat back the calories that you've burned off?

Good luck figuring it out and on your journey.

I did change it to lbs/inches. I'm 33yo, 5'6" (66"), 232lbs (I haven't changed my stats since my pregnancy/miscarriage in October, I forgot all about doing that) and I put Light Exercise/1-3 days a week.

Then you are probably right!! If you think it is too high - then I would readjust the exercise per week. Although I probably wouldn't start at the 391 cals!!!

If you remove the exercise - you get: DD 391/UD 1957

I think you would do great at DD 500 (less if you can!) and UD 2000 - but if you manage 1900 - not to worry!

Interesting, I thought being older would = less calories and being shorter would also equal less!!

However...

I put in my stats at 232 (which I hope I've dropped to - but don't have my scales!!) and my height of 5'2" and I come in at DD: 421 and 2105 - interesting....

My original calculations put me around those numbers on UDs. I found that I didn't lose like I wanted to on that amount, so I figured out what my maintenance calories would be at my goal of 150 pounds. THen I randomly picked a number between the too-high and the maintenance level. There are days when my UD goes above my 1800 limit, but I don't worry about it too much because the "real" limit is 2300... but I lose more consistently when I stick to the 1800.

OK, I did your calculations at little or no exercise and they come to 437 DDs (you can do 500 or a tad more on this if you want to) and 2183 UDs. I would do this, and believe you will lose very well on these numbers especially since you exercise.

I know those UD calories seem high but http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ju...gotta-eat.html! It really does help JUDDD to work well!
