Dr. Johnson sells The Alternate-Day Diet through amazon (his website "store" is just a link to there) and others have said just check out the book at the library or try searching discount sites.

You really can learn all about how to do the diet right here, but the book talks a lot about the science behind it. I've read it twice, and DH is reading it right now.

I started with an up because I decided to try juddd midday, and I didn't want to start with the tired old "I will start tomorrow" mentality. Worked just fine here.

Most do skip breakfast, but only so we can have more calories for lunch and/or dinner. Several save all their calories for dinner. I prefer to have a good salad for lunch and smallish dinner, but it's more about finding what works for you. Some do very well with 3 smaller meals. You'll need to play around with whether you feel best with small amounts of protein, or larger quantities of low calorie veggies. I do best with a combination of the two.

I started with a DD, but I had just come off a 2 1/2 day free for all, so I guess I don't really count.

I highly recommend the book. Of course I'm an information junkie!! I bought it on Amazon.com and find it really motivating because it tells you not just the "how-to" but the "why-it-works". Pretty cool!

I bought the book at Amazon. But realy all you need to know is on his web page so
unless you have money to burn just read his web page. One other source of information
is to do a google for "modified alternet day fasting" there are several scientific studies
using this WOE that refer to it as a modified alternet day fast and it is just the same as JUDDD they just don't call it that.

Start Date: JUDDD 1/1/12 + LCHF 12/1/13 (controlling diabetes)
I encourage you to go into JUDD assuming you will tune your DDs to an eating pattern that gives you the most energy.

And, assume that pattern will change. Over time, as the enzymes build up, many of us find morning hunger just does not happen. Don't push it too hard and let yourself get weak. I usually have brunch (UD and DD) about 10:30 or whenever my body shrieks 'feed me!'. But I am retired and can eat to a flexible schedule.

I bought the book a few weeks in and it really changed my motivation for the good. The science behind it is very logical and pretty cool. Play around for a while with it and see what works for you. Most DD I dont eat 500cal it's more like 650 and it works for me but my UD should be 1500 but lately they have been 2000. Best of luck but you wont need it

I have checked out the book from my library. More than half the skinny book is recipes so I don't believe I will be buying it, but have checked it out twice so far. Nice to know I can get it from there if I want to re-read it.
