Perspective

I wish I would have measured before I started, but I really, honestly didn't want to know!

I just ran my stats since I started JUDDD on December 12th, and I continue to be amazed at what JUDDD has done for me.

12/12/11 - 267.8
02/03/12 - 245.8

By my math (which is admittedly not the best) I've lost 22 lbs in 7 1/2 weeks. That averages 2.93 lbs per week!

I've started weighing daily, and I still stress out when I don't see any losses for several days. I get the panicked "where did I mess up?" feeling. I then have to allow myself to have faith in the process. It's hard, but it IS getting easier.

I find it really helps to look at the bigger picture. What other WOE allows you to eat whatever you want and lose nearly 3 lbs per week? I can't think of one! I need to remind myself that 4 or 5 days in a row with no loss does not mean I'm not losing. My body's just trying to catch up.

Thank you all you wonderful JUDDD BUDDDs for sharing this WOE with me, for giving all the support and kind words and gentle nudges. You people are amazing!

What an awesome post! Congratulations! You are doing amazing! My loss is a lot slower at an average of 1.5 pounds a week, but it's better than nothing!

I love that you stay focused on the big picture!

I cannot stress this enough to everyone: STOP BEING A SLAVE TO THE SCALE! Sure, I have a 'dream' number i'd like to see someday. But will I freak out if I never get there but I fit into my dream jeans? No! Weighing daily might be good to keep yourself in check, however, if you are truly doing JUDDD (or any plan for that matter) as it's written or has been working for you, there isn't a need to weigh daily! It's better to keep a once a month at most, or once a week at least, weigh in.

Great job Dawn! A friend of mine once put an interesting spin on 'stalls'. She said that a smaller body needs a smaller 'system' to run it. Veins and capillaries can be shorter, skin shrinks down, cells need to be processed and eliminated. And that can take some time. So to look at a stall as your body just adjusting to it's new, smaller profile, and making the changes to operate more efficiently.

Now, whether that is what's really going on or not, I have no idea. But it sure helped to weather the inevitable slow downs.

3 lbs a week! That's so amazing! I think even a pound or 2 a week is pretty freaking awesome if it happens EVERY week, kwim? That's the "trouble" with this WOE - you expect to see a loss every morning after a DD (and sometimes after an UD). It's easy to get disappointed or frusturated when we don't see a loss for a week or more.

That is a wonderful post and loss too! One of the hardest parts of weight loss is realizing that it is a process and we won't get instant gratification. I don't weigh at all so I'm definitely not a slave to the scale, but I would still love to wake up tomorrow and be a size 8.

I have come to believe that we need to celebrate the milestones on the journey. Sometimes that might be a DD that you weren't as hungry as the one before or remembering to log and account for your food choices or even getting right back on track when we stray a bit. I don't know about all of you, but I am much better at being hard on myself than I am being proud. I've been trying to get in the habit of reviewing and acknowledging how well I've done at the end of the day. That may be the best accomplishment I can give myself.

Started JUDDD 10/12/11 after LC.
MAINTENANCE since 11/12/11, & have lost more weight. I shake things up all the time with my version of Pirate Jenny's MUDDD, my "Fast 5" & other IF. ...low-moderate fat....and eating "healthy" foods 75+% of the time which lets me have real life and indulgences too I've reached my goals, improved my health & appearance, and enjoy my lifetime woe!

I kind of figured that out already too because I know when I did the fat fast regularly on atkin's I always lost the next day. Well I was eating about the same # of calories as a FF on down days twice this week and I saw no losses , be patient! I told myself. Then BAM, today the scale dropped. (I'm a daily weigher too) I didn't lose faith because I knew I had put in the work and it was going to happen, just a question of when. I guessed it's probably because on Atkin's water is lost right away on the FF due to extreme low carb. With the varied diet of Juddd, it isn't. Just gotta be patient, it will happen.

Dawn, you are doing great!

I'm so glad I read your post. Tomorrow is my 4th DD and I'm NOT looking forward to it. The DD are still hard for me. But, reading your post has helped me and I'm going to do the best I can on my DDs and just keep going!!
