Feeling guilty Pigged out on UD

I had a plan but blew through it.

Had Mexican for Lunch, that was supposed to be my "big," calorie expenditure but then we ended up having pizza for dinner.

EVEN though I exceeded my UD calories, I will still stay ok, right?

I have been doing so well and now I am nervous to weigh in on Saturday...

Yes, that happens to us sometimes. Just move on to your DD tomorrow. IF there is a higher # on the scale Sat than you expect, just chalk it up to water from carbs and carry on... the scale will go back down with the regular UD/DD rotation.

unless you exceeded by 3500 calories any weight that registers is just water weight. so make tomorrow a good DD. sometimes an up up away day results in some good losses for me on the scale.

Great thread. I did the same yesterday. I ended up buying a bag of licorice to eat on the train back home, but after 10 minutes I threw it in the trash can. Also had pizza for diner, so I went over the limit. Probably not more than 2,700 though.

Going to have a good DD today and hope to see the scale go down again

This past week has been like that for me since it is my TOM. I've gone over the 2,000 calorie mark for probably the past three UD's! But, I've kept my DD's low and my clothes are still getting looser (even though I refuse to weigh myself until next week). Try not to fret...from what I have read here, it is the DD's that really count. Make 'em good!

If it makes you feel any better, I messed up yesterday too. I went out to lunch and when I got home and logged my calories I was stunned. I ate at the Cheesecake factory and didn't order any desert, just the lunch entree; I had a huge number of calories just from that one meal. I had been very careful for all my DD and UP days, so this was a big mess up. I essentially ran out of calories so I jumped on the treadmill for an hour but still couldn't fix the mess I got myself into. I still feel rotten about it since I have so much trouble losing to begin with.

DDs are there to catch us when we fall. Just keep the rotation going and, while you can slow down your weight loss, you cannot stop it.

I agree with everyone here that it works out. JUDDD is very forgiving. I've had many days where I've eaten too freely, but overall, I've lost more weight than I expected and am now below my goal. BUT, I'm religiously strict with my DDs. I don't mess with those. They're the magic for me.

me too! I have done this plenty..especially with my FD's...but my DD's are untouchable...NEVER over 600..ever!

I have maintained steadily for 3 months now...and one thing i have noticed...when you over do it on an UD...that DD will be a low calorie doddle!
Just keep on keeping on, and the weight will keep on coming off!

hugs

Relly needed to read this today - had a way too high up day - got very bad news, and was running around a good part of the day, so ate fast food at lunch (too quick and too much), and then pizza for dinner, and when I input everything - ouch. WAY over my UD limit (like by 500 cals).

Tomorrow is another day, though Scarlet, and I plan to make it a darn fine DD.

Sorry to hear you had bad news marieanne.
I think you will find an occasional UD like this does you no harm, just keep to ur usually dd figures and you probably won't even notice it! I have done this myself in occasions, and have even dropped an extra lb a few days later.

Hugs

Marianne, I am so sorry

I have GOOD news though...

I was down 2.8 lbs week one [pre-TOM]
and, even after going way over on 1 UD this week, I am down 3 this week

5.8 lbs in 2 weeks! I'll take that!

Mid Day today, UD tomorrow.

Thanks to EVERYONE for helping me work through my angst and for all the support these last 2 weeks!

I agree about it usually not being too big of a misstep to have one of those Up, Up and Away Days... if they don't happen too often. JUDDD is very forgiving, and it's not like you are kicked completely out if you mess up.

But, it does have an impact, just from the standpoint that packing in too many calories slows down weight loss. If you go over a couple of hundred or more on your UDs fairly regularly, and then you aren't quite as strict on your DDs either, so those are most often over a hundred or two or so also... finally those overages add up to pounds of weight loss that should have happened for you, but didn't.

If you really respect your calorie ceiling numbers on both your Up and Down Days, you will, almost without fail, lose weight at a nice pace. Not so much when you end up having altered your calorie numbers too much, too often.

But if a person is losing well, they can't be going astray too far too often! Weight loss success is pretty good proof that you are doing a good job at JUDDD.

Thanks everyone - I appreciate your thoughts.

My sister-in-law passed away after a relatively brief illness on Friday - we got the news in the morning that they were removing life support, then got the news that she had passed away while we were in the middle of a home inspection for a home we are buying that went on forever.

So, I was trying to work (had to take conference calls while all this was going on), pay attention to the inspector and process this horrible news all at the same time.

So, when my husband showed up with Popeyes, it all went to hell in a handbasket.

Later that night, neither of us could muster up the energy or inspiration to cook for real, so we ordered pizza in - and well.....you can guess how that went.

Today has been a really good DD, though. So, am making up for it, and tomorrow I start training in earnest for my half marathon in April, so will get lots of exercise. Then we leave for Death Vally, so will be lots of hiking on Sunday and Monday.
