Meatzza (Pizza w/o the Crust) pic included

No more messing around with trying to find the perfect low-carb crust.....I'm going crustless!



Meatzza

Ingredients:
2 lbs. Ground Turkey, Beef, or Pork
2 Eggs
1/2 c. Parmesan Cheese
2 Tbsp. Penzey's Italian Sausage Seasoning
1 c. Mozzarella Cheese
Pizza Sauce
Sauteed Veggies

Directions:
Mix ground meat, eggs, parmesan cheese & seasoning (I use my hands). Line a jelly roll pan with aluminum foil and pat mixture in pan. Bake at 450 for 10 minutes. Depending on the fat content of your meat there may be fat that needs to be drained from the pan. You can also blot the top with a paper towel. Top meat base with sauce, veggies and cheese and broil until cheese is nicely browned and bubbly.

I used to make something similar years ago. I called it "Meatza Pizza". I forgot all about that recipe! Thanks for jogging my memory....

Just made it for breakfast...Delicious....I did not have mozz cheese so subbed parm cheese instead and just sauce. Its a keeper. I think it will tast better even better cold. Hard to pick it up when it was hot so I ate it with a fork.

You are right Dottie, Meatzaa was created a long time ago. Someone first posted about it here in 2003 and then in 2006 there is a post about mexican meatzza created by Cocapelle here:

I think I first saw it in '99, but I notice this lady says that her preferred way to bake this thing is to spread it on a baking stone. [That's what she says, don't know if that's actually what she meant to say.]

Run to your kitchens and make this!!! Seriously though, I just made this for supper and it's like a giant meatball with pizza toppings!! I just put pepperoni, green peppers & onions on this one, but any pizza toppings will work. I 'm thinking spinach, mushrooms, sausage & olives next time, and there WILL be a next time!! LOL Soooo good!!


Edited to add: Meatballs & pizza make a wonderful marriage!! Much better than spaghetti and meatballs!! I also put garlic in the meat crust.

This is so good. Made it for the 1st time in the last week. Used ground turkey. DH wasn't too sure about it so I'll either do 1/2 and 1/2 gr. turkey and gr. beef or all gr. beef next time. My Mom and I Loved it, gr. turkey and all. After putting the sauce on, I put on saute'd: 1 red bell pepper sliced up (don't like green or it doesn't like me/us), 8 oz. mushrooms, and sliced/chopped a can of black olives, then put the cheese on. It was Really good.

I'm so glad you all are trying this and loving it! Such an easy recipe! We actually prefer it with ground turkey over ground beef! As you can tell from the picture, the kids eat the cheesy side and DH and I eat the veggie side!

This looks so good! Thanks for posting it. We like italian sausage on our pizza and I don't have the italian sausage seasoning so I might try it with ˝ loose italian sausage and ˝ ground beef. Then just add the veggies we like on top - and maybe pepperoni!
