Who Else Is Eating 20g or less?

I've been doing LC for 4 months now. Down 34 pounds. After reading numerous books on the subject, my goal became to eat no more than 20 carbs per day until I loose 100 pounds. Feeling great - not hungry or craving and blood work is great. Anyone else eating 20g or less for how long and how ya doin'?

ME!! I count Total carbs not net.

I've been less than 20 total carbs daily since 3/18/11. I've lost 7 pounds.
I cut back to 8-12 a day and still stuck. But I'm keepin' on and hoping for a big loss....one day.

I am!
I've been doing between 10-15 net carbs per day since May 5th, and lost 15 pounds so far Somehow I gained 2 pounds, but that's another story. Lol

I'm going to stick with under 20 carbs for awhile.

I've been doing around 20g for about 5 months. I usually don't bother to figure out net carbs though, so it's 20g total.

Just curious.

What do you eat when you eat 10 carbs a day?

Thanks!

I am kinda that guy. I normally stay in the 20 or less carb daily but don't get bent out of shape if my ****** says 25 somedays either. While I don't count calories I am aware of them and there have been days I have traded some additional low-calorie, LC veges for high calorie, LC meats. Mostly because of what my personal taste was that day, not really for the carbs or calories.

I have said many times that this is a long term change of life for me and in order to keep doing it and having success I feel that I MUST be happy in what I am eating. Otherwise, when I get to whereever it is I am going I don't see being able to stay there. I.E. the 1000's of diets I have been on during my life that none worked for more than a couple of months.

How long at the 20 -25 carb level? For me, 2 1/2 years and 148 lbs ago.

I am staying at about 25 carbs a day, but it is just not coming off very fast.

Congrats on your weight loss, though. 148 pounds is amazing!!

Just stick with it. It will come. I would also suggest you make sure there aren't hidden carbs floating around too. I hurt myself several times by not realizing something that I thought was 3-4 carbs was really 8-10. I also found the simplier I ate the better the weight came off. You also need to remember your starting weight. In the 170's isn't like starting in the 420's! BTW - Thanks for the compliment!

Wow Robman, 148 pounds is awesome!!

Coleminer77,
To stay between 8-12 total carbs a day I eat lots of eggs. I also eat bacon, pork chops, steak, fish, chicken, turkey. I don't do veggies right now. I was trying to see if I would lose if I went lower carb but it hasn't at all helped me lose. I'll be adding them back in next week.

Do you not eat salad as well? I don't think Dr. Atkins recommended omitting all veggies all together. Except for the fat fast, which is 2 days or something really short.

I do about 20 a day. Put myself back on induction. It really controls the cravings. However, I do eat an Atkins bar a day for snack. I know this is inhibiting my losses, but I go nuts on the protein otherwise. I am on day 12 of induction and I have only lost 2 lbs.

Yes, 2 lbs.

That sucks. BUT, I did lose 1" on my waist. No inches anywhere else. I have also started exercising more at the same time. SO, maybe I'm trading the fluffy fat for the more dense muscle and not really seeing a net loss on the scale?

My jeans do feel more comfortable lately. Not moved down a size but I don't expect that when I still weight 173# (from 175#). I plan to stay close to 20g carbs after induction, except the occasional strawberries and cream.

Buttercup,

I haven't been eating veggies at all for the past couple of weeks. I was trying to see if doing all protein would help. It didn't. I ate broccoli last night and was up 2 pounds this morning. Now i know a cup of broccoli didn't do that but I'm still frustrated. I has some more broccoli tonight and am planning on a SMALL salad tomorrow. Starting Monday I'm going to take out cheese (only think I eat that isn't meat or eggs and I'm having a tiny amount only several times a week) and see how my body reacts.

Those Atkin's Bars are a killer for me. I have to count TOTAL carbs though. And if you lose but it's just slow and you are okay with that, then that is perfect! A little something sweet but you can stay on plan!

Hi. I usually eat under 20gms. of carbs a day, but i don't sweat it either if i end up a few over. Most days it is under 10. I don't tend to eat much veges- sometimes a couple of slices of sauteed onion with my steak, or a cup of string beans, or cabbage or many days none at all. I usually don't eat salad because it just makes me bloat and isn't as satisfying to me as a cup of cooked vegetables. I tend to eat a 1/4 cup of Bubbie's sauerkraut most days for the intestinal benefit of eating fermented food... I still have a lot of weight to lose, but i am feeling satisfied and comfortable with the way i am eating, and feel like i can continue like this for the long haul. So far, it's been pretty easy to stick to. I have to watch the calories, and i take several prescription meds that i swear are making this thing go slow- plus i am perimenopausal...So, you see, it IS doable! I posted in another thread my menu yesterday (haven't entered in today yet):

B- 4 Bob Evan's link sausages, 1 egg+1 egg yolk fried in 1 tbsp butter
2 cups of black tea, with 1.5 tbsp coconut oil & some liquid stevia
L- none today- allergies had me just not hungry
D- 6 chicken wings, uncoated fried in bacon fat/ghee mix, 1 tbsp butter mixed with 2 tbsp Frank's hot sauce, 1/4 cup Bubbie's sauekraut.
S- 12 oz bottle of Virgil's Zero Cream Soda (this is soooo good! sweetened with stevia)

According to ****** I racked up: 1379 calories, 118.9 gms fat, 4.3 gms carb, 72.9 gms protein. All that was 76% Fat, 1% Carbs, and 22% Protein.

I certainly add veges to my menu. Love cucumbers and eat them every few days soaked in vinegar and fake salt. Will have a tossed salad couple times a week. Had cabbage tonight with a ribeye! I do limit the amount. Had about a 6 oz serving of cabbage. Cooked in butter and natural chicken stock. Amazing wow sweet it tasted. Years ago would have never considered cabbage to be one of my "treats."

I'm a 20 or under person, too! Once in awhile I have gone all the way up to 30, but I seem to gain when I do that. I don't feel like I'm missing out...stay pretty hunger-free for the most part. I've been stalled since early March, but I have been under a lot of stress, and I'm attributing it to that. Getting ready to incorporate exercise, but only because I know how good I'll feel when I do it.

I stay under 20. Many days I probably hover around 10 or so. It suits me well. I don't really plan on upping my carbs anytime soon since I don't feel as though I'm being deprived. Some days I'm sure I'm close to 20 because if I find I want an extra helping of mashed cauliflower then I eat it!

What I do tend to avoid is making desserts. That is what really made me screw up years ago when I did Atkins (and by nature I'm not a huge sweet eater). I stayed at induction levels until I was very close to my goal weight then started making all sorts of sweets with almond flour and various sugars. That really threw me off and I vowed that this time I was going to just keep it simple and avoid all the "legal" desserts.

20 or less for me for long enough now, that I have lost track. It is very simple and easy for me and I don't feel one bit deprived - ever.

I am striving to stay under 20! It is nice to read others are too. I have been stuck for over a month, so I need to do something different.

Piratewoman, I don't suppose you might share your menu plan? You sound (and look!) like you have it down to a science! Your pictures definitely inspired me!!!

It seems like I need to cut out the casseroles and stick to the meat and veggies instead, at least until I lose the rest of my weight.

Most days under 20 carbs for me, and I've been doing it since 2000.

I find on those rare days when I eat 30 or more, I'll gain.

Just my personal tolerance I guess.

I have been eating less than 20 carbs (closer to 10) for almost 3 weeks and have only lost 4.5 pounds. Totally frustrating Last time I did Atkins I had lose about 15 pounds in the same amount of time.

My carbs have ranged from 7 - 20 this week ( I don't subtract fiber). My own research leads me to believe that veggies are important for nutrition and health, so I make most of my carbs come from quality veggies.

I have a lot of weight to lose and seem to be fairly metabolically challenged, so I am staying low for now (although after a couple more weeks at 20ish, I do plan on working the way up the carb ladder to determing my level for losing. I'll start with more veggies.

Me! I have stayed at 20g or less since discovering and starting low carb/Atkins back in January of this year. I have had a few slip ups that took me way off track but when I am ON track- I am definitely at 20 or under. And I REALLY LIKE IT! I have so much extra energy, no hunger, no cravings and feel very stable emotionally. Yay! I can have many days in a row with no weight loss at all but I still just feel so good and I feel confident that if I can just stay at 20 or less, the weight loss will come- and it does! I hung out at the same weight for about a week and then over the last 3 days I have lost 4 pounds! Works for me!

I have thought into the future about OWL or adding in more carbs and truthfully it kinda scares me... eating carbs can really trigger binges and cravings for me- which I have definitely learned the hard way over the last couple of months! So, I am happy here for now and have about 45-55 pounds until goal. Maybe when I get closer I will experiment with adding more in, I'm not sure!

I also do 20g a day - fiber. I just started in March of this year and have lost 26lbs so far and don't think I will move onto OWL until im at least 15-20 lbs near my goal weight of 130. I haven't even read that chapter of the book yet bc I wanted to get Phase 1 conquered first. Good luck to everyone...hope all are doing well so far.
