Atkins Fat Fast questions
I'm trying the fat fast. I've been struggling not to gain for the last 2 years. I want to see if this will kick start weight loss again. I still have 50-lbs to go to be in the normal weight range.
Do you treat the list of foods like the Induction list? Meaning, "If it's not on the list, it does not pass my lips." Or do you allow vlc produce like spinach, field greens, zucchini, mushrooms? Yesterday was my first day. It was a struggle with hunger and a little bit of a nauseous feeling from all the fat. By the end of the day I was craving a nice big crunchy salad. I ended the day with about 1450 calories total with 80% from fat. Also, what about broth? I'm thinking 2 eggs swirled in a mug of chicken broth would be good. I feel like I need some bulk in my stomach. BUT, I want to do this right and see if I can lose some. Anyone tried the Fat Fast?

Um, are you sure you are doing the fat fast correctly?
You should eat 5 small meals daily, about 200 cals each to effectively start the fat fast. You are right though about the 70-80% fat. I did the fat fast once (in Jan) because I was stalled. It worked for me and was actually quite tolerable! I did not eat veggies (except avocado) though. For 3 days I ate bacon, cream cheese, macadamia nuts and whipped cream, essentially. It was not as bad as it sounds. I also had tuna salad with tons of mayo on half an avocado. Just make sure your quantities match approx. 200 cals, with the right fat % every time. I was not hungry after a couple days. You get into deep ketosis. After the first 3 days I introduced a few more cals...I ate some very fatty cheesecake and basically the same fat fast foods as I had the first 3 days. I did this for about 3 more days, then went back to normal LC. I did not gain any of the weight I lost back (it was about a pound a day lost). I think broth would also be good for you, but unless the eggs fit into your calorie restriction on the fat fast, drop them. Follow Atkins own rules for fat fasting. Do a thread search on this site...there are some great ideas on a fat fast thread that will help you find 'meal' ideas!

I did the fat fast last October and lost 4 lbs. in 5 days on it. Since that time, I've used the fat fast for two-three days occasionally to get back into ketosis. I'd recommend the fat fast meals as recommended on the following thread (first post):

Thanks everyone.
Sunday was definitely better than Saturday. Not as much hunger. Today at work was good. I was a little worried about not being able to stop and eat when the hunger started. No problems. And as of this morning, I'm down 1.8-lbs. I'm not getting too excited yet. I can bounce 3-4-lbs from one day to the next.

Has anyone tried the fat fast with fat bombs in place of the cream cheese? Not ready to do one yet, but if this stall doesn't break after three weeks, I might.

I did this once and lost 5lbs in 3 days and kept it all off (because I went straight to meat and eggs after I finished) I was very strict. I measured my mayo and tuna and mac nuts and everything. 90% fat, 1,000 cals...I hated it, lol
