Pork Roast in the slow cooker

Does anyone know how long I should cook a 3.5 lb pork roast in the crockpot?

It depends on what KIND of roast, IMHO - is it a pork shoulder, or a loin roast, or tenderloin?

The tenderloin would not need to be cooked past about 4 hours, IMHO. In fact *I* would probably NOT cook one of those in the slow cooker, but that's just me. It would be like putting filet mignon in there!

Pork shoulder would need to cook 8 to 10 hours.

I did a loin pork roast in my crockpot and did it for about 6-7 hrs on low. I did it so I could shred the pork and make barbeque pork sandwiches. I left out some of the pork and am going to make pork green chilie for tonight. yum. It was really nice and moist and tender. JUlie

I just got our 7qt slow cooker in (Hamilton Beach). When yall cook a roast does it turn out more like a pot roast or does it ever get brown and crusty in the slow cooker?

Thanks! I know I can brown it before I start cooking it.

I never had them get brown and crispy in the crock pot so I usually rub some oil over it and put in a shallow pan under the broiler turning it so it gets brown on all sides before putting in crock pot.

Nope, it's never gonna get brown and crusty - it's a moist heat cooking method. You can enhance the appearance by rubbing the outside with some oil and Kitchen Bouquet browning sauce, but if you want it browned and crispy on the outside you'll need to do the same thing that Wanda does!

What I do is cook in the crock pot. Then I saute pieces in butter/bacon fat to crisp them up. Sometimes I add LC BBQ sauce. YUM

Me too. Once I cook it, I pop it right in the fridge to cool it down for slicing into steaks. Then I brown the slices in butter... yum...
