Wow, can't believe I'm the first. I was pleased and a bit shocked to see 117.6 this morning, the lowest I've been in many months -- especially surprising as it's been a stressful week where I've not had enough sleep.

117.2. Pleasantly surprised to be maintaining when I have eaten really badly and have major PMS.

I have my marathon in 6 weeks or so and will have to reassess my eating as I taper and run less because it isn't unusual to gain when tapering.

109. I know I could lose those last 4 pounds if I would just get serious.

Leaving for the cruise today --

145!!! Definitely much lower in my buffer zone, and A NEW LOW for me!!

Not bad considering this week: outside faucet broke off (water main had to be closed for two days); after that, water heater hose got a hole and flooded the garage (yup, water main off again plus emptying garage when I should have been packing yesterday) and woke up this morning hearing my husband yell as he watched our cat climb into our half-packed suitcase and pee in it.

Oh, and my DH's new CPAP machine falls off his face and sounds like a jet taking off next to my ear, several times a night. Doesn't wake him, though.

All in all, I'm happy to take the 145.

Wish me luck evading excess at the Royal Caribbean buffet-o-rama.

See you in about 10 days!

Slightly over 154 and therefore far too close to the top of my buffer zone. I've had a strange couple of weeks and felt totally out of control with the food. Going to do a "reset". Induction rules for a couple of weeks to break the bad habits and get back to normal.

WOE: Low carb/calorie cycling
Weighed this morning (Sunday) at 160, which is fine, but I still don't have a handle on how I'm going to maintain on a permanent basis.

I do JUDDD (calorie cycling), and the conventional wisdom is simply to raise the calorie levels of low days until you stop losing. But another JUDDD-er and I have found that we really like the lower calorie days and might prefer to add a few 'treats' on the higher days (but that, too, can be dangerous and escalate too easily).

I've also found it surprisingly difficult to raise those low days from about 350-400 to 650-700. I thought that would be a relief, but I found myself getting out of control once I stopped being so strict!

So I went back to the low days at 400 cal, but I really think I should just try to get a handle on how to raise them. The advantage of staying at 400 is that perhaps I can maintain with 2 days a week rather than 3 at that level, which would simplify things for me. Then if there's any weight creep, it would be relatively easy to add that 3rd day back in.

I fear that if I get too used to eating at the higher calorie level for low days, I won't be able to cut back if I need to do so.

So I'm still experimenting with how best to work this plan for maintenance, but one thing I'm sure of, I will not re-gain!

Good attitude but I know its hard to Maintain. How do you eat on the Up Days? You may have said before but I am at work and no time to look right now. Good luck. Ann

On my Up days, I generally eat anywhere from 1400 to 1800 calories, with a mid-range most common (about 1600). I really don't want any more food than that. (If I didn't cycle, I'd probably have to stay below 1200 cal daily.)

But once every 4-6 weeks, I'll have a high calorie day (perhaps 2300), and that seems to help me lose, since I stay so low on a regular basis.

Hi everyone, I'm back from a 'haitus' of sorts you might say... haven't posted in awhile. After having some vaca deviation I whooshed over 2 lbs (maybe it was the hormones too) to 128.3 lbs today. I'm very pleased. I'm off traveling for a long weekend yet again so I won't be able to post tomorrow. I can't wait to get my 'normal' life back!

I have gotten behind on reading this thread. Congrat so to you all. I see some nice maintaing and losses going on.

I will weigh tomorrow. I have not eaten particularly well but I feel the same. My clothes fit the same.

I actually saw a photo where I truly noticed the changes in my body for the first time with the loss of weight and the training I have been doing.

Last night's workout ended early do to rain and I was good and ate salad with chicken and diet dressing instead of pizza. I wish I could be good like that at home.

I am not adverse to any food I just try to watch amounts and know there are foods I eat way too much of once I get started. If I have two cookies in a day I am doing good. I used to eat cookies instead of a meal.

Be back tomorrow hopefully with no major changes. My goal is to stay around 118 and so far so good since I have come to this thread and weighed at least 1-3 times a week.

115.2. down 3.6 pounds and not from eating well. must be the miles I am doing and I think I lost a ton of fluid last night running. I don't expect to stay this low. I never do. Plus it would be as low as I have been in years. I think my lowest weight is 112-113 around 5 years ago.

I didn't expect to lose. I have eaten far more junk in the last week then I should and need to eat healthier leading into the marathon to fuel my muscles. I have to keep remembering this when I want to eat a few cookies. I won't do more then 3 a day but why not some healthy fruit instead?

Well it seems as thought 109 must be my magic number. Even though, I cut down it doesn't seem to make any difference any more. Maybe that is the case with Maintenance; your body finally says "enough", and "I like you the way you are". If only I could train it to let me eat anything I wanted and not go in the direction of "up".

Jonah's Granny( sorry don't know your name)- Do you feel good? Do you clothes fit? Perhaps your weight is perfect. I don't know how we come to the number we want. I just know for me that 114 got to be too thin. I just picked 118 as a number when I was in the 120s. I think you have to find a place you are happy with yourself. Is that possible for most of us? I don't know.

I do know that in May I was 126.I felt lousy. I always accepted the low 120s with 122 being as high as I really wanted to go.
These were just numbers. Now that I am under 120 pretty consistently I am happy but can I maintain it? We will see. I will need this thread more then ever after I cut my miles and need to cut back my eating too.

Today, I weighed in at 154.4. My goal for this month is 153. I hit that last week but TOM showed up surprisingly and now I am hoping to read any 153 number by the end of this week and/or beginning of next week.

Haven't had TOM in years - last month the dr refused to give me the depoprovera shot, said I was 100% in menopause - yet I got a full week of TOM. Took a blood test yesterday to see if it's just the med finally coming out of the body or ovulation. We will see. Can't imagine me starting a family all over again after the age of 50 . . .

I'd like to join in this thread.

I hit my "goal" a few days ago, but I'm not satisfied with my fitness.

I set the goal when I joined with no knowledge of low carbing or what number I should be. The BMI chart showed a range of 144-194 so I stuck a pin in and picked 182.

Now that I'm here, I see about 10 lbs left all in my lower abdomen.

None the less, I won't change my goal nor my way of eating. VLC seems to suit me well and I suppose I'll stop losing when my body is right.

Ron

154 again this week, though slightly under, rather than slightly over. So not down much, but heading in the right direction after going in the wrong one for a while! I've been less during the week, but I think I was a bit heavy on the salt yesterday!

Back again! Had a wonderful time!

Not going to weigh before Friday. I did well: planned my indulgences beforehand and didn't let them spiral out of control.

At home I don't eat all that regularly except for dinner -- I do feel I've filled out a bit, but I imagine it will be just a week or two to undo any damage.

She said hopefully.

I may be out of ketosis and carrying the attendant water weight, or the heat may be contributing. All the summer heat we didn't have has been piled up and dumped on us now.
