Neese's Sausage Dip = Sunday Afternoon FAVORITE

"hello, I am on a DIET and I CAN eat Sausage Dip, in large quantities, whenever I feel the need to"

Isn't that crazy? I mean obviously I don't eat it often, but about once a month it is so nice to be able to make a extremely high calorie dip, put it in some lettuce wraps and go at it.


Anyone else make this?

(for those who do not know: serves a few, a couple times)
-2 lbs. sausage (1 lb regular, 1lb HOT)
-2, 8oz blocks of cream cheese
-1 can of Rotel, hot or regular

Brown Sausage, chop while browning or in a processor to get smaller pieces.
Put into crock pot with other ingredients on high for a while, stirring often, or low for a few hours. VOILA! READY TO EAT

You can use low carb chips, lettuce wraps etc or just a spoon.

what exactly is rotel? we don't have that in Canada...if i could find something comparable i would soooo be making this! dh is a BIG time football fan and it's almost that time again! toast up some lc pita's and dip those bad boys in a dip like this and mmmm...

Rotel is tomatoes with diced green chiles. That we can get in Canada the problem being that Rotel comes in a 10.5 oz tin (think soup can) and that size we cannot get in Canada.

This is it! But hey, most grocery stores have a value brand, just look near the sauces or tomato canned isle normally. Diced tomatoes and green chiles is all it is.

Hey Hawk! As soon as I read the Neese sausage in the title I looked to see where the poster was from. I JUST knew it had to be local to me as I grew up eating Neese's. Salisbury here! And, I have eaten that recipe many times, just I used to put it on "scoops" and now I use pork rinds.

You could sub a cup or so of chunky salsa and the flavor would be very similar and just as good. The main difference between salsa and Rotel is that Rotel is very watery.

Hawk, Wow sounds fantastic. Does it store well in the fridge? Im the only one that eats LC in the house. I guess i could just half the recipe and it will still last a while. Thanks

This is one of those wonderful recipes that the whole family will love. It's low carb friendly for you but if you let everyone else taste it, they'll want to share in it.

I like it cold...it's all thick and yummy.

Try scooping it with Cut up squares of Bell peppers...SO GOOD!

Since I am the only one who eats this I 1/2 the recipe...it make 3-4 good meals for me.

Hey Homeboys,
Grew up in Yadkinville (north of Winston Salem) and I ate a lot of Neese's sausage as a child. Of course, it was in sausage gravy and on top of biscuits. Is that why I weigh 190 pounds?

Another Neese's fan, checking in. I love their Liver Pudding - it's too high in carbs for Atkins, all that cornmeal makes it yummy - but I eat their sausage in a minute. My favorite: sausage and cheese balls.

I've made this too except I use 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 hot sausage. My recipe also called for mexican velveeta which I won't use now but really didn't think about using cream cheese and some american cheese. Thanks for the tip.

Hey kittycitygirl...you won't be disappointed ..... We had this last night for the first time and it is extremely good. We had ours with celery and carrots for dh... and we are going to eat the rest tonight...
