What is your Favorite Low Carb Cereal?

I am REALLY missing that Bowl of Cereal in the morning. Its the only thing I am struggling with right now.

Would like to get some Low Carb Cereal suggestions? Brands? What kind of dairy you add to it?

sorry, can't help you I'm very happy with eggs for breakfast. Now I'm in OWL I have yogurt a couple time a week instead and the variety is enough.

I'm way too far down the carb ladder to be that brave. I'd try nuts, though, if I was craving something crunchy in the morning.

I haven't tried any LC cerals & don't plan to. I'm pretty sure most contain ingredients I don't want to consume.

You might want to try this. It doesn't have any questionable ingredients like the store brand LC cereals do. There are lots of variations, like adding cocoa. It's easy to make & tastes like a hot cereal.

Recipe by "nasus"

Faux Cream of Wheat

1/2 cup riccotta cheese
4 tbs cream
1 egg

Mix and heat over med heat until grainy, then add a little vanilla, cinamon, and Splenda/stevia to taste.

Wasn't that originally created for mental patients?

OK, I know I'm being a bit of an arse; I'm naturally good at it. I'm also kind of a LC purist and I just can't help but see cereal as a frankenfood and milk as something that baby cows drink.

But seriously, if you're craving cereal for breakfast, I suspect that you're not getting enough variety. Might I suggest:

1. Omelet, full of every kind of veggie and cheese you can find
2. MIM with cream cheese and bacon (or spam).

I'm sure others could help here as well. If this doesn't help, I'd be curious to know what cereal you finally decide on.

I vote for hot flax cereal (hardly a franken food )
Lots of fiber and healthy fat and protein. I put butter in it, and sometimes cream. Definitely nice change of pace when I'm not feeling eggs or meat in the morning.

When I want a real live honest bowl of CEREAL - I have Fiber One (the original kind, not the flakes or other flavors) with 2 packets of Truvia and some unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

A half cup serving does the trick, in more ways than one I might add, and is high in fiber (duh!) and the Blue Diamond Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla almond milk, ice cold, is delicious on it.

If I want hot cereal, I have 1/2 cup cooked quinoa with the aforementioned almond milk, SF maple syrup, a pinch of cinnamon, and a splash of heavy cream.

HOWEVER I am on maintenance - not sure I'd do it before the latter stages of OWL. (Atkins anyway.)

This is a cereal that CarolynF (I think) posted one time. I have tweaked it some. I just love it!!!

Caitlyn's Cereal

3 Tbsp. flax meal
3 Tbsp. vanilla protein powder
2/3 cup water
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 Tbsp. (or so) peanut butter
2 Tbsp. Davinci vanilla

Whisk together (I use 2 cup measuring cup) and nuke for about a minute. Stir again and nuke for another half minute...watch it as it may go over the top! Serve with half and half or low carb milk.

I like Flax Crunch. I bought some this weekend and it was delicious with unsweetened coconut milk and a lil bit of Splenda. It's one of the few cold cereals I can eat because it's wheat free and not more than 5 grams of sugar per serving.

I occasionally make a cream of wheat type hot cereal with guar gum, a bit of torani syrup, and water. Served with some cream. PM if you care, I have typed out the recipe too many times, LOL

Does anyone remember Gram's Gourmet? They made the cinnamon and butter pork rinds and a few other products. I used to LOVE their flax n nut crunchies granola. I would love to be able to buy that stuff again. I don't know what happened to to the company.

If I am craving hot cereal, I get a few GG Scandanavian Crispbreads and break them up, add some HWC and splenda and microwave. Very yummy and keeps you regular too.

All of the cereals I have tried have made my BG spike.

I really wanted some oatmeal after PH1, zoom.
Tried some Kashi, supposed to be healthy, zoom
Tried Uncle Sam, lots of fiber, zoom.

I may try something else later but for now I'll go with eggs and meat.

Yes, there are many "cereal" doubters here. We have good reason to be. You may very well be about to find out why.

Interesting comment about thinking outside the box. I think what most people here were trying to do is to help YOU think outside the box. I understand you are struggling with missing cereal and I hope you find something, cereal or otherwise, that will help you with that. At least now you have some good ideas for alternatives.
