Chili seasoning

I am going to try making chili with Williams Chili seasoning. I have a packet that's been in the cupboard unopened a long time (few months) and I don't know if it's still good. I bought a packet at the store today, too. Do you think the one that I had before might still be good yet? I have a hard time throwing stuff if I don't have to.

Why don't you use the old packet and see how it tastes? I'll bet it will be fine. You can always add in some of the new packet if you are dissatisfied with the first.

It is probably just fine. As long as it is still in powder form. It is a sealed envelope. If it does not have an exp. date I would not hesitate.

I always do the sniff test. If it smells okay, then it usually is.
You could mix a tad of it in some water and taste it, then you will know for sure.

If it still smells like chili seasoning, then it should be fine.

Chili seasoning in a packet????? I'm a native Texan and am reviled at the thought. LOL. I just use chili powder, cumin, garlic, mexican oregano, etc. Hope your chili turned out though.
