substitute for tequila?

Want to make a recipe for tequila lime marinade but I dont have any tequila and dont want to go buy some for a 1/4 c of marinade. Is there anything preferably non alcholic that I can substitute for tequila???

Not really.

On a side note however .. low grade ta-kill-ya for cooking is pretty cheap and useful in many marinade recipes so I'd say just splurge and buy a pint.

IMHO "go for the gold" aka buy the "gold" ta-kill-ya for cooking if they have a cheapo brand available, the flavor holds up better .. again IMHO

You CAN use rum, but honestly, tequila has such a unique taste I don't know what would sub well that is non-alcoholic. Maybe just add some more citrus (lemon or lime juice) instead. But it won't be "tequila lime marinade" for sure!

lol oh my was hoping you would say there s a tequila extract . My husband has a disease that has him on the liver transplant list if he gets tested and alcohol is found he will be thrown of the list sorry ladies nooooooo tequila .

Apparently, you can make a non-alcoholic tequila sub at home using agave nectar. I just Googled "tequila flavor extract" (without the quotes) and found a recipe at www.frozen-drink-recipies dot com. The recipe is in the notes at the bottom of the page.
