Depression and Anxiety

Hi all,

I've been away a while, I know. I've just been suffering from depression and anxiety. I'm seeing a doctor. Meds helped for a while, but now it's not working. I guess I'm just posting to talk.

I've tried distracting myself with movies. That seems to help. For a while. I feel too anxious to go out, and I'm just so exhausted. I'm trying to listen to inspirational talks. That used to help me pull out.

Do you guys have any good inspirational talks or something that helps you pull out of a funk? It has happened to me before, but this one seems scarier. I just can't seem to pull it together. I have a lot of responsibilities I need to get to.

I do things I absolutely have to, and other things slide. The house is getting messy. I'm not well-fed. The job has been crazy busy, and the stress is getting to me.

I can't gauge if I'm being realistic about some of my fears because of my anxiety.

Thanks for letting me talk. Maybe some of you feel like talking.

I don't know of any good inspirational talks, but Ted Talks are usually good. Maybe search that way.

I am sorry you are feeling this way. Have you had your thyroid *throughly* tested? Many women are diagnosed with depression when they have a thyroid deficiency. Happened to my mom for years.

Hi KT, nice to see you back here even if it is to talk about your current struggles. This is a good place to talk, everyone is supportive and understanding.
I don't know of any inspirational talks to help you but when I feel anxious or upset I meditate and/or do EFT. They seem to help. Soothing music helps me in a funk too.
I wish I could be of more help, but always here to listen.
BTW are you still seeing Dr Ted?

Hi Gina!

Thank you for your reply. I've had my thyroid checked recently, and I'm susceptible to bouts of depression. This time is hard. I'm having a harder time of it, I think, since my good friend just had to move away.

She was a coworker of mine, and was laid off before me. She wasn't able to find good work after that and finally had to move for a job. I miss having someone to talk to. I did call her, but it's not quite the same.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Jan,

It is good to hear from you.

I have tried EFT and meditation. I haven't been able to get control with these methods. I can change my mood with music-I should try that.

I see Dr. Naiman, yes, but since my husband passed away in 2012, my situation with depression and anxiety has gotten worse. I am seeing a shrink now to deal with it.

Thanks for listening.

Depression is awful. Losing the in-person support of a friend is too.

If you can manage one more thing, eat well.

Hi KT, I didn't think you were seeing Dr N for these things but was curious if you still saw him at other times. Although it would be quite a trip for me to see him in his office, I am considering making an appointment.
I've been stalled for quite some time now and it is frustrating me to where I need to find a new direction.
Glad you have checked in here. Was wondering how you're doing.

Hi ladies,

Thank you sooo much for talking to me.

I went to the doctor today. It was the same office as Dr Naimen, but I saw a different doctor. She is starting me on a different med, so I have some hope. I don't really want to talk meds here though.

I am so hoping to get better.

I saw a friend in Jacksonville, Florida post something today. It cheered me up a bit to see her posting. I was really afraid for her. Her neighbor's house was hit by a tree, but she came out OK.

It was another stressful day at work-more problems I can't prevent, so I couldn't get work done I need to get to. It's a problem I'm having there. I can't solve that. Maybe it will get better next year, that's all I can tell myself. I'm only in my second year there.

I just need to find hope.

Hey KT--I think a therapist would be very helpful. It isn't just about meds--having face to face contact with someone who cares about your problems can make all the difference.

Hi all - thank you all for posting and your kind words!

I'm starting to feel a little better.

Ouizoid - I did have a therapist. He doesn't take my new insurance, so I need to look again. You are right. I'm sad about this because I've seen him on and off for 8 years and hate to start over. But that's just how it is.

Key Tones...exercise cardio daily for at least an hour really helps with depression. I encourage you to look into it.

This is really good advice. As hard as it is to do this - if you can - force yourself to do this. I really don't like swimming but once I go swimming or even running it really helps lift my mood. The hard part is just getting started. So sorry to hear you are going through this.
