What weight of kettlebell do you use, Nik?

I checked out his 40 min kettlebell workout, and it looked like he stuck with the same weight throughout. I've mostly done just swings with kettlebells. I like them, but have resisted buying one for basically one exercise. Now I'm reconsidering.

I'm only at 10 pounds. I'd worked my way up to 15 but then slacked off. I get bad DOMS so I'll stick with 10 until the DOMS gets better...I LOVE him!! LOL...something about the accent and those abs

He has the 40 minute and then the 2.0 which is just as fun....my core responds immediately which is so awesome! I quit my gym membership and just work the bells and some walking now.

They say start at the lowest weight because you really don't know how your muscles will respond...I didn't pay attention and started with the 10....WRONG WRONG WRONG....lol....it gets muscles you didn't know about apparently...I worked a 5 pound for 2 weeks before jumping up to the 10 again! And women are supposed to use something like 19 pounds...YEAH RIGHT!

Trust me...don't try to be a hero....LOL! Start slow

Thanks! I think it was the 2.0 that I watched. I'll have to see what kind of kettlebells I can find locally.

I have one I like I got from Target I think. It isn't spherical, it is flatter so it doesn't bump so much. I wrapped the handle is cloth tape (like from the first aide deparment) too so it is less slippery.

I really need to use it more. I agree the DOMs are crazy. The first time I used it I thought, "Meh, what's the big deal?" Then I couldn't walk down the stairs.

Been good today!! I skipped my coconut oil in my coffee today

Reheated baby reds with ketchup and A-1, and some microwaved potato chips with salt and onion powder.
Plenty of coffee, mint tea- and a diet soda.

Did really good. Started Monday at 143. Weighed Wednesday morning at 140.5!!
Then flew out of state to see family. Planning to do it again soon to get rid of the weight I plan to gain while here . I try not to stress too much about it. It goes away when I decide to stick with it! Just have a plan when I get back- and I'm good!

I've been thinking about it again. I did it with sweet potatoes a few weeks back with good results. I think it would be fun to do it again and see what happens this time, whether it was just a fluke or it really works.

Ok, I decided. I'm going to do it 4 days this time, Monday through Thursday. I will use sweet potatoes again since we've still got so many.

Veronica, are you in?

Yayyyyyy!

Yes, CC I am definitely in! I remember reading the earlier in this thread that you had done well with sweet potatoes. Going to get my supplies together this weekend and do some more reading as I feel less anxious when I know the 'rules' a litter better.

Anyone else in?

No worries losingslow, perhaps in future round you can join if comfortable.

OMG, I just finished reading the old thread from 2012 about this and searched and found this one! Today is a DD for me so I decided to try to PH my DDs. I've been a very, very slow loser (which is fine, the turtle wins the race) but why not get my DD calories from potatoes?! I'll see how long I can do this.

Starting Weight today 4/1: 201.8

I'll post my weights daily and we shall see!

My goal is to do this for 3 days (Fri./Sat./Sun) then I will probably resume JUDDD, depending on how I feel.

April 1: 201.8 DD - started potato hack (PH)
April 2: 200.6 UD - PH

Christy, thanks for posting your results. Please continue to post your weight a few days after the potato hack is over. Many people see it continue to drop. That was my first experience and I'm curious to see if I have similar results this time.

I'll be sure to do that. I know when I read through threads I love seeing weight loss results (positive and negative). I'm also planning to weigh myself daily this month and post on the April weight thread.

April 1: 201.8 DD - started potato hack (PH)
April 2: 200.6 UD - PH
April 3: 199 DD - Last day of PH

Last night I felt a little light headed, so I had 2 hard boiled eggs. Since today is a DD for me I think I can do 400ish calories of potatoes, but I don't see myself continuing past three days. My calories over the past two days were about 400/1000 and I'm shooting for 400 today. I would like to try incorporating it on my future DD's next to see what happens.

Thanks Dee. Best of luck with your JUDDD restart. This is my second time around, and I'm a very slow loser. I'm making peace with my pace and at this point feel like my lack of weight gain is a success for me! My expectations of the potato hack are low, but I figured why not give it a go? I like potatoes and it hasn't been too bad.

My weight loss background is that I lost 100 pounds two years ago on Optifast drinking 480 calories of protein shakes for 8 months. It changed my life and I became a runner and hiker and general lover of movement, but despite low calories/low carb my weight keeps creeping up (up 40 pounds). Reading the wonderful posts by Jeneric Stewart has given me hope that I can heal my metabolism by eating normal calories every other day. I love that I can eat more with JUDDD, and if I slowly lose the weight, it will be a wonderful victory for me. DD's are feeling much more normal to me now. I've also toned down my running and am lifting weights and doing HIIT every week. My main focus is to build my metabolism for long term weight maintenance!

Wishing you all the best and please keep me posted on how you are doing!

Christy

That's amazing Christy! I'd love to be a hiker. I'd like to walk the camino in Spain (over 500 miles) someday but back pain, sciatica and taking weeks off of work is making that quite a challenge at the moment. Losing weight will make a big difference in my pain level, I am sure. I'm still hopeful I can make it happen though I am following your progress closely as you are close to the same weight as I am. See you in onederland soon!!

Christy~ thanks for posting your experience with this! I too am interested in your weight after stopping the hack as I too have read that people continue losing.

Dee~ welcome

CC~ you ready for tomorrow? So happy you'll be joining me. Hopefully we can celebrate or scorn spuds together!

PH Prep:

-I cooked my first batch of home fries that are now cooling in the refig (4lbs of spuds)

-boiled 5 lb bag of reds and have them cooling as well ( I plan to eat this cold to break up the monotony)

-currently cooking second batch of home fries for the following days cause I know it gets crazy during the week with school, work and taking kids to and from sporting activities.

Goal was to have at least the 3 days of spuds ready so that I have to do is reheat or eat cold. My plan is to use ketchup sparingly and see how far I get eating them plain (I doubt very far lol). I plan to continue fasting for breakfast as I have been doing for JUDDD.

I have read various sites (as well as this entire thread several times) on symptoms that might arise (gas, bloating and other stomach issues so I am prepared for this. I have read that the potatoes should be peeled and others sites don't mention it so not sure what way to go. I already cooked home fries with peel so I guess I can cut off peel prior to consumption...?

I am planning 3-4 days longer if the scales make me a happy woman...we'll see.

This is the game plan. BRING IT MR. POTATOE HEAD!!!
