Susan - my goal is the same. I would love to get back in the low 140's by Thanksgiving, except we go to Disney the week before thanksgiving and I always gain in Disney even with all the walking. But I would love to get around there because that's where I was last year at Thanksgiving.

What do you eat on your fat fast?

Happy hump day! It's another cool rainy day in northern VA! I wore a light jacket today for the first time in a long time. I ordered some matcha and it finally arrived today. I've been reading a lot about it lately and I'm super excited to start drinking it. We are govt employees and lived overseas most of our adult lives and spent two of our tours in Japan. There I grew to enjoy green tea and only had tried matcha flavored sweets like matcha ice cream, cakes and lattes. The Japanese use it in a lot of ways. It's better than green tea in that a cup of matcha is equivalent to 10 cups of normal green tea because you consume the whole leaf. If anyone is interested, here is some info on the benefits: http://matchasource.com/health-benefits-of-matcha-tea/

I've been doing well with my exercise routine but I've been stuck with the treadmill due to the weather the last few days. I've been doing walking and weight lifting and starting to see some changes in my shape. My clothes are fitting better too, despite the lack of movement on the scale.

B: 1 c cottage cheese, coffee with half and half
S: 10 almonds, moon cheese, Diet Coke
L: beef and chicken fajitas with cheese, sour cream and salsa, cherry Coke Zero
S: matcha with half and half and SF vanilla syrup
D: skipped

I hope everyone has a great night!!

Stayed on plan today, 13 carbs total. Will weigh Saturday. Hoping for a loss!

B - chicken salad, diet juice with Citrucel (Yes, I'm that old!)
L - hamburger patty
S - pork chop, babybel cheese
Snack - coffee with heavy cream

Hang in there, Kelli, surely your efforts will get the results you are working so hard for!

kt_mom I too notice that it has been much harder to lose the weight this time around. I remember losing last year even when I had a cheat and now it takes forever to get down. We just have to keep doing what we are doing and remember that we may be losing inches even though the scale isn't moving as much as we'd like.

kimmiejean I feel your frustration over the gain. I too gained over the weekend and my choices were definitely not worth the setback that I am now dealing with. Hang in there

Casey I have tons of family in Puerto Rico. I have not been since my grandma passed 40 years ago. My mom just visited 2 years ago. It's funny that you mentioned Lititz, PA because I had never heard about it until earlier this morning when the news reported that police officers found red balloons tied to the sewer grates and were spooked because of the upcoming IT movie. I am about 1 1/2 hours away from where you will be with your friends. You will not be far from Lancaster also known as Amish Country which is a cool place to visit. Have fun and enjoy your time in PA.

Nihold One of the things that frustrates me so much about this WOE is how it takes me a few days before I see the damage that a cheat has caused on the scale. I always feel relieved when the gain is none or minor and then the next day BOOM, I see a gain

Kelly I really believe that our bodies are going through changes and what may have worked before is just not working as well. The good thing is that as long as we stick to plan we will lose inches and eventually see some movement on the scale. Hang in there

HappyMom Thank you for your well wishes. I definitely feel better. Congrats on the nice loss.

Julie Yay for loose fitting clothes.

cstyles Awesome job keeping your carbs so low. I bet you will see some nice movement on the scale when you weigh in on Saturday.

Sending the whoosh fairy to everyone. Have a great night

Good morning all,

Another day with little pain. This is day three and I am loving it. Needed this break big time. Had girls night out like I said and it was Italian. I had a salad and a few cashews but that's it. Really working on strict induction so I with you Ktmom and Kelly with the frustration on the scale. Don't get it. I have been good. Oh well I would rather be this weight and no pain though so I guess it's a good day. But I do think I had too much dairy. I will be better today.

fembomb - I saw all the fires on the internet. I lived in Cal too for 6 years and we would get evacuated all the time because the Mountain behind us would catch on fire.

Bella - I hope you have a better day today.

Cathy - you crack me up

Everybody - HI!!!!!

Goal - 167

Menu:
B - coffee, hwc, stevia, 2 organic eggs, onion, pepper, sausage, cheese

Good morning Everyone! Is it ok if I join your challenge? I'm in and out/up and down but lately (for the last few years); but I maintained a low-carb WOE for many years and was very successful! I've gotten way off and need motivation to stay on and would love to work with all of you to do so!

My goal is to lose 30 pounds. While not terribly bad, I always use it as an excuse to overindulge. So, I'd like to get back to my goal weight by the Holidays!

P.S. You guys are killing it!!!

Good morning ladies! Once again the scale was only down a tiny bit and I was on plan all day yesterday. At least after doing this coffee fast I know that the amount of coffee I was drinking was not the culprit because this is day 7 with no coffee and it doesn't seem to have made a difference in my losses.

MSNLA - Welcome! This is a great group you will love it here! So much support and encouragement here.

Pam - I'm so glad you have had a few days pain free! What a blessing and I hope it continues for you! I really think if you were able to keep the pain under control that you would see the pounds come off too but I know how hard that must be! Prayers for you that this time free of pain will continue!

bella - great job on fasting all day! Those fathead pretzels sound yummy!

fem - See I don't think its a thyroid thing I had that checked years ago when I put on the weight. I've dieted over the years and not been able to keep it off. But then feb 2016 I started low carb/atkins and the weight came off great. Summer hit and I had some ups from cheats on vacations but I was always able to recover quickly and by Thanksgiving I was down 40 pounds. Then between thanksgiving and Christmas I went off plan too much and ate lots of stuff I shouldn't have and drank way too many mimosas. (for some reason DH and I love to have those during the holidays. We start thanksgiving morning and it runs through new years, lol). I got back down to about 144 but I've been bouncing up and down and ever since. What came off quickly after cheats last summer just didn't this summer. And right now I weigh more than I did on Jan 3 of this year after a month off plan. I'm not really sure why I'm having such a hard time these days. I don't think I'm having any more cheats then I was before. I gain in Disney because we drink a lot of beer and eat really bad. Too many sweet treats down there that DD and I enjoy together, lol But I can always ask at my next checkup.

Ameenah - Its funny that a few of us that have been on here from around the same time are all having the same problem at the same time. I mean not funny, its sucks but at least we can all come here for support!

Cathy - 13 carbs is great! I bet you do have a nice loss when you weigh!

Julie - it was chilly here in central va today too! I wore jeans (that I had to stuff myself into, lol) and a jacket to take DS to Awana's last night. It was yucky and rainy too. I don't know anything about matcha I'll have to check out the link and read some more about it. Thanks for sharing!

Well I just found out last night that I've 600 pages of the wrong book for my class. I was originally signed up for this class in the summer session and it was canceled. I thought I checked the fall book list and it was the same but somehow I missed that they changed the book we have to do a review on. Same author but different book. I ordered it last night so hopefully it comes quickly so I can get started. This term is going to kick my butt doing two classes together but I really loved having the second term off and I'm really looking forward to enjoying the second half of this semester with my family and not having all the schoolwork and a paper to write and stuff. Its worth the extra effort in the first 8 weeks! But I need to get started for today so I better get off here.

MSNLA - Welcome!

Kelly - So sorry for your frustration. I so get it. Your menu's look good so give it time. I have been good to and nothing moving either. Trying to take in less dairy but you don't usually have dairy but some cheese from time to time. We will do this. On another note, that scale sound cool. I didn't know scales can give you body fat %. Can you tell me which scale you have. I might need to get on of those

Nicole - Thank you, less pain is awsome

Kimmie - just brush it off and keep going!

kt mom - you are still going down slowly. It will come off soon. You are doing great!

Pam - I use the Fitbit Aria scale. I'm not sure how accurate the body fat % is, but it does take into account my height.

Kelly - I wonder how the scale knows that your body fat % is going down when the weight isn't really moving. That's interesting I might have to try it out when our scale goes. On another note, you've had steady large ketones and mine have been dropping down to trace but thankfully it was darker this morning. Not sure why it changes unless its just that the extra water is sometimes flushing the ketones out or something. I know that when DD has ketones the Dr. tells her to drink lots of water and of course take insulin to get rid of the ketones.

Kelly I just know you're due for a whoosh. You're being good, you get tons of activity, there's just no way your body can keep going with those dark purple sticks and not drop some weight! Sometimes I swear it's a game of chicken with the scale, and you just have to not blink first!!!! Sooner or later it will give in and show you those numbers you deserve.

Pam Three days no pain, yay!!! I hope it lasts. And congrats on surviving girls night out so well, that's always my downfall. Although I finally figured out that it's better if we go somewhere with not much for me to eat. When I have a big cheese platter or bowl of nuts around, I just eat the whole darn thing!!

nihold You're cracking me up, that's just how I felt this morning! I want to go back to bed. Just for another hour or so. Wouldn't it be great?? And congrats on your loss!!

kt_mom Bummer about the book. I'm impressed that you can juggle family and school. I just signed up for an online computer course, and just finding the time for that is killing me. And we have no reading or papers due. What are you studying? I also always gain when I go to Disney. The food is such a big part of the experience, plus with all the walking I always think I can get away with more calories than I can. But if you're going to gain, that's the best place to do it!! In answer to your question, I'm actually doing the original Atkins fat fast, just eating 10 oz. of cream cheese each day. I'm on day 3, and starting to get pretty bored of it, but I'm VERY happy about the scale! I plan to make it through today, then add in eggs and/or meat tomorrow. There's no way I could do this for very long. But it's been a great kickstart! And like you found out with coffee, it's nice for me to know that dairy is not stalling me. Cuz I'm eating nothing but right now, and the scale's moooooooving (get it, cow joke cuz it's dairy).

MSNLA This is a great group, and it sounds like you already know low-carb really well so you're ready to succeed. Glad to have you with us!!

kimmiejean I like the "pre-friday" message, it makes Thursday sound so much more exciting. I know what you mean about hunger, I have learned that getting too hungry is just dangerous. I will totally use it as an excuse to eat and eat and eat, and it's usually really bad choices. But today's a new day, and this WOE makes it really easy to just get right back on track.

Belinda Congrats on the new decade!! Sorry your day was rough, I hope today's a little better.

fembomb Where in San Fran is your hubby? I'm in the East Bay, and we have definitely been smelling the smoke from those NorCal fires. I grew up in SoCal, near the coast. We only got evacuated for fire once, but you do get used to the canyons going up in flames every year. It seems like the fires are getting bigger and stronger, too. Scary!!

Well I am so happy about the scale, haven't been down here in a few months and I REALLY want to keep it moving. One more day of the extreme fat fast, and then I'll go back to more foods. Cooking dinner last night for my family almost killed me, I wanted some of that trip-tip so badly. But I'm happy with the results, that's for sure.

To everyone who's waiting, keep going! When I look back on old posts, it's not unusual to have those stalls, but as long as you keep at it, eventually the scale moves and usually it's pretty dramatic. Whoosh fairy to everyone!

Susan

Sept. goal: 156

9/2 - 162.6
9/3 - 162.9

Susan- I'm working on my Masters in History. I'd like to maybe teach eventually, hopefully online. It really sucked about the book because it was really boring too, lol I hope the new is not nearly as long! Good luck with your class!

So you are just eating cream cheese? Anything with it or literally just cream cheese?

I too have the fit bit aria scale. The problem I have had with it is I will step on it and get one weight then immediately step on it again and get another. So then I keep stepping on it until I get the same weight finally repeated. Does yours have weird issues like that?

Nichole - I do EXACTLY the same thing! Most of the time it's pretty consistent, but every once in a while it gives me different numbers every time.

kt_mom - I think the scale somehow sends some kind of current through my body and measures body composition somehow. The body fat % only works if I get on the scale with bare feet... if I'm wearing socks it won't give me a reading. Beyond that I'm not really sure!

MSNLA. This is a wonderful group. You are sure to find the support and motivation you need to be successful.

Aug 31 161.6

Sept Goal 158

Sept 5 165
Sept 6 164
Sept 7 163.2

Menu
B- coffee
L- 2 beef sausage with mustard, cheese
S- lc cheesecake
D- skipped
S- coffee, lc cheesecake

Feeling less bloated today and my rings are loose once again. I am drinking water, water and more water and also getting at least 10,000 steps daily which is helping to get the scale moving again. I am still sore all over and I truly believe that once I get this extra weight off I will feel much better. One of the best things with this WOE is how much our health improves as we lose the weight. I know that if I want a better quality of life that I must stick to this WOE for life. Sorry I did not get to respond to everyone individually but I just took my pain meds and need to lay down for a little bit. Keep up the great work and do not give up. Only good can come from sticking to plan. Have a great day beauties

Good morning ladies! A little bigger drop on the scale but I was still hoping for a little more, at least a pound. But I'll take what I can get. I ended up eating more yesterday then I have been. I had breakfast lunch and dinner instead of waiting to eat until 11. And I made my eggs in coconut oil. I was also up until midnight watching football but then I couldn't stay up any longer. Glad to see Kansas beat the Patriots though it was still close when I went to bed. Kind of wish I'd stayed up now, lol. Today was also day 8 of my 10 day coffee fast and I'm really looking forward to my coffee on Monday.

Tomorrow DS starts soccer and so we'll be up and out to the ball field early. And then he has a birthday party to go to so today I've got to get a lot of schoolwork done.

Pam - glad to hear you are still pain free and a nice drop on the scale!

Ameenah - I've been trying to drink a lot of water too. Sometimes it helps me lose and sometimes I think it makes me bloated. Right now I don't feel bloated though so that's good. You're moving down quickly, that's awesome!

Sorry for no posts lately. Crazy here in Florida. Lots of hurricane prep going on. We are in the Tampa Bay area and Irma shifted west now so we are back in trouble. Getting the house ready. Hurricane shutters go up tomorrow. My daughter lives a few blocks from the gulf so she is first to evacuate. They have already called for evacuation in her zone so she will be here with her son. My son, dil and their 4 kids may hunker down at their house with her family or they may all end up here. Don't know yet. We are the only ones prepared with all the water, food, flashlights, etc. Plus my house is large enough - 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, living room with couch and loveseat and then family room with same. Air mattresses, etc... Gas grill with 2 full tanks, lots of stuff. Hope it will be enough. Hubby keeps fussing at me not to worry about the diet, to eat whatever is available, and I'm still fussing over getting bars if necessary, canned chicken and tuna, etc.
Hope everyone is doing well, if you are in Irma's path stay safe! I'm off to look for D batteries, the only thing we DONT have and desperately need. Also heading to a friends house to have my kids bring in her plants, grill etc since she's out of state.

Dottie - Prayers for you and your family! We have some friends that live in Melbourne and I think they are staying too. I also have family in the Cocoa area. Hopefully all your family will just come stay with you then you can all ride it out together! Your husband is right about the eating but at the same time I totally understand where you are coming from. If I at least knew I had some lc options to get me through then I would have one less thing to worry about. It would drive me crazy if not!
