Anyone up for thinner Christmas 2017 challenge?

I started a challenge that ran 1/1/17 to 6/30/17 and it helped me so much to have the support of those fabulous ladies!! I know I wouldnt be down two sizes without their support!

Id like to start another that runs from 6/30/17 until 12/24/18. After all who doesnt want to face Christmas feeling great and fitting into new sizes?

The only rule is to pick a reasonable goal you'd like to hit by Christmas Eve and check in regularly It doesnt matter what plan you follow. No diet police here.

Happy July!

Dimply – How you like these heat indices???

Mick – Oh, from the old thread. Congrats on sticking below Onederland! Woohoo!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend! It feels funny not having any alcohol for the holiday, but I plan to get lots of projects done around the house.

I got out at 4am this morning to get my yard stuff done because we’ve been in the 100+ heat indices most of June throughout the day. And oh so humid 24/7. The bugs seem to like it though because they attacked me the minute I stepped out the door. Everything outside smells like YUCK and wet dog because of all the Cindy rain we had and another 3 inches on Thursday along with the daily thunderstorms. I hate to say that I was hoping the rain wouldn't stop until Weds because the rednecks have been shooting fireworks for 2 weeks already and I'm so over it.

I was super hungry yesterday so I made deviled eggs late afternoon. They were delish!!! Then I wasn’t really hungry for dinner so I just had some cauliflower. Later I decided to add some almonds for TV watch'n so my calories wouldn't be too low, but when I poured out my “1 serving”, over 2 fell out into the bowl that I had eaten the cauliflower. So, I couldn’t put them back because they had left over EVOO on them and I surely wasn’t going to throw them away. My calories were still low, but I’m sure all those nuts didn’t help my weigh in for this morning. It went down, but still 2/10ths away from my low on Thurs. Anyway, it is what it is…

Yesterday’s intake

Iced Coffee/Cream

2 Devilled Eggs
Cauliflower steamed in EVOO/Parm
Unsalted Almonds (67g)

Calories for the day: 1057
Burned Calories: 2715

Im shooting for a pound a week. There are 25 weeks and 1 day until Dec 24 if I figured it out right. Still seems like it will take forever to get to my ultimate goal. This sure isnt fast like it was when I was young.

Im not sure if Im going to have a drink or two at the festival tonight. Im looking forward to that delicious grilled chicken though! I love that crispy skin

I did my final weigh in for the financial wager I placed back on Jan 1. I came in 6 pounds under what I needed to win. Im really curious to see what the final pay out is. I havent decided if Im going to do another 6 month wager or not. I didnt like worrying about what the scale said just for weigh ins even though I could see my body changing. Silly things like avoiding hot dogs or really salty things the day before a weigh in. It seemed really silly to stress like that to me about water weight and numbers. I felt like my mother! However I did want to win all my wager back plus extra.

FINDINGME you did it perfect Thanks for the congrats. Yep it seems to be sticking. Now for some new progress!

They are shooting them off here too. All you hear at night is boom boom! Sorry to hear i is so hot and humid. Its been humid and wet here so the bugs are also awful.

I wouldnt waste those almonds either. Too yummy! Do you always keep your cals so low or do they jump around?

Hi Mick and FindingMe!
I am an idiot -- I posted in our old thread! What am I thinking?

FindingMe, those fireworks would drive me crazy. You cope well in the heat and humidity. As a New Englander, I think I would melt and I am always so impressed with the grace and ease that Southern ladies have in the heat.

Mick, that chicken sounds so good. Hope you have a great time at the festival!

It is so hot and humid here today -- like 95 degrees (which I know isn't as hot as where FindingMe is so I should not complain). I just got back from an 8 mile walk and showered.

Now I need to get my hair colored and run errands. Will probably bring home food from our favorite Italian place that makes low carb dishes for us. They make a great gluten-free chicken marsala and chicken piccata and they fix us roasted veggies in place of pasta. Makes it easy to stay on plan!

Good Morning!

I can't believe 2017 is already 1/2 over

I'm only 5'2", so I have another 35 lbs or so to lose to be overweight as opposed to obese, and then another 27 lbs to be at a normal weight, which is still 8-10 lbs too much for my frame. 126-128 is a good range for me, which I haven't been at since the last millennia My goal for this challenge will be to lose the 35 lbs to no longer be obese.

Heat is nasty here, too. I run the a/c in the car, of course, but can't stand to have the air blowing in my face so I open the passenger side vents and the middle driver vent but not the one closest to me. It was so hot the other day I had all the vents open & pointed toward me.

No fireworks yet. No one in our immediate area shoots them but we can usually hear them in the distance.

yesterday:
B - coffee w/cream & Torani's
D - mayo/parm chicken; salad w/lettuce, cheese, bacon, egg, & Ranch dressing

genamartinez! Please copy & paste the chart in my post above yours' to a new post, & add your start/current/goal weights for the challenge. I live in Houston too.

What version of Atkins are you following? I am doing a hybrid of 1972 & 2002 combined with IF/OMAD.

Went to dentist what an awesome state of the art office. They only put a temp on it and are booked out to September so after the holiday I have to call the day before and try to steal an appt from someone who doesn't confirm by noon the day before, then they start giving the unconfirmed appts away. Just so happy to be out of pain, came home and took a nap but did I need that, never got a wink of sleep last night. I'm sure I look like death warmed over.

Due to tooth I'm down 5 lbs in water weight so if I stay off sugar and carbage I will see new losses soon. Have to stay on softer foods with the temp in, no way do I want it falling out. So I have a bunch of hard boiled eggs in fridge I'm going to devil them up and I think that's dinner.

No one immediately around us does fireworks but you can hear them a few streets over. Hasn't been to bad yet. The big lake fireworks are the 3rd. Kids are all going but yay! DH and I get to stay home! It's not a holiday I enjoy.

So happy for everyone sticking to their determination to lose. Doesn't matter if you hit goal or not as long as we keep trying we will all get there! Hugs you guys! Great job!

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is doing well and staying committed.

Welcome Sk8termom and Gena!

Gail - WTG on the 8 miles! Awesomeness!!!

Michelle - Yay on the 5 pounds! So glad to hear you are out of pain!!!

Dimply –I don’t think I’ve weighed 125 since I was 12, before my growth spurt (height and boobs). I’m 5’6” and boob heavy, but I always shoot for 177 (next big goal after Onederland) because 179 is the obese-border for 5’5” and I know that I’m going to shrink as I get older.

Mick – That is great that you came in 6 pounds under your wager goal. I'm curious about your pay out, too! I know it is great to make money on getting healthier, but I also know that it adds the extra stress. Keep in mind all the holidays, too. Gotta keep sane and all that. I support whatever you decide.

Yep, 25 weeks sounds about right. 26 in half the year and we’ll be goaling a week before the end.

I don’t normally eat so low, but when my feeding window is only 1-2 hours, I tend to go lower on those days or if I’m just not hungry because my body just doesn’t digest (well) over 1200 calories in such a short period. My main calorie goal is to try to take in 1000 less than I burn daily because “scientifically” I know that would mean a 2-pound loss per week. But, there is never anything scientific about my metabolism so it is just a crap shoot most of the time. I’ve done tons of research recently about fasting and as long as I get my daily protein in, I feel pretty good about it. I probably need alot more protein some days, but until I get out of the obese zone, I am not going to push that. And I don’t do well with the white knuckling so I try not to deprive myself if I am really truly hungry.

Ever since I mentioned the Artico Cero and not being able to find it, I have seen it everywhere … taunting me. I have picked it up multiple times and put it back. Not so much because it has that tad of organic sugar, etc., but because of the price. This morning I was all set to get some kind of on plan treat for the holiday. Crazy crazy crazy that I always think of holidays as an excuse to eat and drink things I shouldn’t. Will I ever get out of that mindset?! I did pick up some bacon and that is a lovely treat that I don’t have very often even though it is on plan. Plus…the price. OY on the bacon prices.

Ysd’s Intake

Iced Coffee/Cream

1 serving Fathead Thins (right out of the oven)

Salad – Lettuce, Tomato, Cauliflower, Sun Kernels (16g), Diced Chicken Breast, Homemade BC Dressing

1 serving Fathead Thins and KerryGold (16g)

Calories In: 1133
Calories Out: 2581

sk8termom! I have lost & gained so much weight in my 30+ year dieting career that it isn't even funny. Most of us are in the same boat, and here for support. Please add your stats to the chart at the bottom of my post.

Michelle - Sorry you had a bad night, but I am glad you were able to get some relief from the pain.

FindingMe - I hadn't thought about shrinking in height as I get older I always want a treat at the holidays too. It is so ingrained in society that celebrations = food, so of course that is our mindset.

Mick - Congrats on making your weight loss $$ goal!

Gail - Hope you are having a relaxing weekend. Your 8 mile walks amaze me!

Oh WOW!!! I am exited to see you all in here!!! YEAH! Welcome to the new people! I really hope you'll stick around. Our little group that stuck it out from the last 6 month challenge did fabulous! In fact I still have to go back to the last one and get our final big weight loss number so we can acknowledge the rock stars we are! I dont care if its one pound of 100. They are all worth celebrating!

NEW JOINERS please copy and paste and add yourself to this list. Weigh in when you want too.

I went to the festival last night and had a great time. Its in a rural area we lived in for 15 years. We giggled and oh'ed and ah'ed through the demolition derby, had their famous grilled chicken, stopped at a party and at the local bar. Had lots of fun! I did have a few drinks. I do the Carbnite plan for the most part but dont always do the weekly carb night spike.

Im anxiously awaiting the results of the wager! Ill report as soon as I know.

Ive got company coming next weekend until Tues and then we leave for a 4 day rock concert on Wednesday. We will be camping there with 20 of my favorite people! I'll pretty much do the same as our recent vacation food wise.

Todays eats:

coffee with cream

chicken thighs and creamed spinach

burgers and too much cheese. Burgers and cheese cubes dipped in mayo.

If I have a snack later it will likely be an egg or pickles. I am plum out of any good snacks like nuts!

NIGHTOWL howdy! Just grab the list, add yourself and start chatting away! Thanks for joining us!

SKA8TERMOM thanks for joining us! It seems most of us have been on the lose/ gain roller coaster. Jump on in here! Congrats on those 9!

GINAMARTINEZ hi! Just add yourself to the list and jump on in! Thanks for joining us!

KIMMIEJEAN you ready? Thanks for joing us! I think we have all tried the gimmicks and struggle to find something we can do forever.

GAIL wow that is quite a walk in that heat! Way to go! The festival was fun. The derby was comical I hope you enjoy that dinner. It sounds great!! Did you happen to weigh in for the end of the last challenge and do you want on the list for this one?

MICHELLE Im so sorry to hear you had such a rough night! I hope you are feeling better. Congrats on the 5 and yeah for time alone!

DIMPLY Sounds like a good goal! I have to look and see where I need to be to not be obese. Sorry to hear your getting nailed with the heat too. Your air vent thing made me giggle. Its very familiar! My nephew has a store in Houston. Your dinner sounds yummy!!!

FINDINGME that Artic 0 is taunting you! If it helps at allI didnt like it much. It wasnt creamy enough to me. Id rather just have the real thing once in a while. So far besides the fathead none of the low carb subs are worth it. I find I eat more of them than I would a bit of the real thing once in a while.

You know I always forget with fasting you have to take in so many calories in that meal. I sure do wish our bodies worked like the scientific calcs for weight loss say. Oh well we shall just keep on keeping on!

First of all, that is awesome! I'm excited to join in on this challenge. I think losing 25 pounds is realistic for me in this time frame.

Morning y'all! Hope everyone is doing great!

NightOwl - Sounds like a good challenge goal. I'm sure you'll do awesome!

Michelle - I hope you are getting all that stuff out of your system and things are getting back to status quo!

Dimply – You might not get too much height shrinkage. I know some older folks who have lost 3-4 inches by the time they get into their 80’s. I’m not sure the reason, but since I have lost much of the cushion between my lumbar discs, it seems inevitable for me and my joint issues. The biggest thing is to try to keep your posture which gets harder and harder.

I hope you are still surviving the heat okay. I’ve been only going out in the elements before 7am otherwise I go straight from the garage to the car to the garage. 120 heat indices ysd. My AC bills are about to get crazy again.

Mick – Thanks for adding up the numbers from the last challenge. That is a whole lean Dimply. GO US!

Good to know about the Arctic0. I can easily avoid that aisle for awhile; I usually just do the perimeter anyways. Now, I’ve just got to ignore the freebies that I’m accumulating at my favorite coffee joint. I’ll probably be ready for my next espresso/sugar fix by the end of the month.

Neat new avatar, Mick! You have a busy schedule upcoming! I wish I was going to a 4-day rock concert! Not so much the camping though. You will be so missed!!!

Ysd’s intake

Trenta Black Iced Teavana (unsweetened)
Iced Coffee/Cream

Salad – Lettuce, Tomato, Cauliflower, Diced Chicken Breast, Bacon (2 yummy slices), Homemade BC Dressing

2 Deviled Eggs
1 Serving Unsalted Almonds

Calories In: 913
Calories Out: 2683

NightOwl! 25 lbs is a great weight loss goal for the challenge!

Mick - The festival sounds like a blast, and so does the concert. Enjoy! But no to camping. Not even glamping! Going to read up on Carb Nite; sounds like my dad's carb weekends. I think I shared in the old thread that my dad lost around 70 lbs 45 years ago on Atkins when it first came out, and has maintained for all these years eating low carb during the week and whatever he wants on weekends. I totally understand if you do not feel comfortable answering, but what store does your nephew own in Houston? Promise I won't go nephew stalking, just wondering if I am familiar with it. Love the sloth avatar!!

My posture is horrendous and I am trying to be mindful of it. My grandmother & mom used to come up behind me and pull my shoulders back.
I am afraid our next electric bill will be over $100.00. The last one was really close, and it's only gotten (& will get) hotter.

yesterday:
B - coffee w/cream & toranis
D - grilled NY strip, grilled hot dog; caesar salad

Howdy everyone! Weight still the same 199.

Eats today:

coffee and cream

burger patty

steak and creamed spinach

If I want a snack it will be pickled brussel sprouts. I sure love those and need to make more.

Oh yeah we are totally roughing it camping for the 4 days. We bring our camper full of water, an extra rain barrels of water and a generator Our camper is a smaller one but has all the comforts of home. I was done with tent camping when the kids were teens. A lot of our group does tent. We also rent a porta potty for our big block of sites but Miss Priss here uses the camper bathroom. I wont lie Im a girly girl and bring my blow dryer and everything. The festival is hard rock with over 50 bands. I'm most excited to see Volbeat, Slayer, Shinedown , Avatar and Ratt. There are actually a few bands we havent see this year so thats fabulous!

NIGHTOWL that sounds like a reasonable goal! Maybe you can give yourself little rewards along the way.

FINDINGME whew that is hot!!! We only hit 80 and it is gorgeous today. I spent a lot of time on my dumb flowerbeds today. Your food looks yummy!!! Be careful you dont melt!

DIMPLY It is kind of like your dads diet except it is just the one evening. Ill PM you the namethe shop the nephew owns . LOL you could go nephew stalking if you want. He is a pretty friendly guy and a lovable nephew. The sloth is the one I got to feed and pet on vacation. Her name is Olive. I thought she looked so content after chewing her apple.

I have bad posture too as I am self conscious about the boobs. I would love a $100 electric bill Are your rates pretty good there?

I hope all of you that havent checked in yet are having a fabulous day!

Thanks everyone, nice to meet you all

Anyway my day was pretty uneventful. Tomorrow we're going to barbecue a bunch of food (chicken, ribs, steak, veggies, etc) so hopefully I won't have to worry about our menu for the rest of the week. I do plan on splurging on an ear of corn though.

Mick - your idea of camping sounds pretty good! I hope you enjoy yourself.

Happy 4th to everyone from the US
