Hello everyone. I am a 33 year old mother of 4 and I need to lose about 30lbs. I have lost the first 10 since the beginning of this year. I am eating high protein and low carb. I don't calculate net carbs, because I track my food on a calorie counting site. I get around 50-70 total carbs per day. My goal is anything under 100g. I know that isn't super low, but it is a big improvement from the 300g+ that I was eating before.

I am currently 160lbs at 5'. My bmi is 31 and my body fat is 34%. My goal weight is between 130-140 with 20% body fat.

Hi! I am so happy to be here. This is my fourth time on a Low carb diet. The first two times I stopped when I became pregnant and the third time I just gave up after a very indulgent vacation. I began my most recent ( and hopefully last) journey on October 17 at which point I weighed 236 pounds. At only 5'5" that is obviously not a good weight. I keep my carbs at 25 grams or less per day (usually 10-15 net) and usually eat between 1200 and 1500 kcal per day.
I have three children and currently work part-time while I am in school full time. As of this morning, I have lost 31 pounds. I have two autoimmune disorders, one of which is thyroid related and I take a daily thyroid hormone pill. I have 60 pounds left to lose and I can really use all the help and support I can get. I am the only one at home on this WOE and everyone else in my home loves all things pasta, rice, etc.
Thank you for listening. I hope to become an active member of this wonderful community.

I've been a member for a long time, not a usual poster, shoot, I rarely even look at this section. I started doing Atkins way back when it was new around 1972 or some thing around there. And yes, I strayed off of it, but always came back. I have never been more healthy than when I follow a lc diet, my labs are perfect. What I want to encourage is 2 things, first, there is a lot of knowledge here. Many people have been down this path before. Second, you are a new wave, people that can make a new path. I encourage you to make your own way and encourage each other. Choose to be active with your health. I love to see people looking at this way of life with new eyes.

Hello! This is my first post here!

I'm Herbwifemama, homeschooling mom to two girls. I love to read, garden, cook, and I'm interested in natural/herbal medicine among many other things.

I am here to gain support for living a low carb lifestyle. I have PCOS and insulin resistance, and I'm trying to be as healthy as I can. I often feel defeated. I don't want to spend my whole life chasing after a weight loss goal. I am so much more than a fat person, and I don't want to be a bad role model for my girls (to hate my body). It seems like there is NOTHING I can do to lose weight. So, while I would actually love to lose around 100lbs, I'm not TRYING to lose weight, I'm TRYING to eat to keep my insulin low, my blood sugars and hormones balanced, and let the rest do what it does.

I am doing Ttapp for exercise, and also trying to get out for a daily walk, and we do family bike rides when the weather is nice. We are trying to condition my 6yo to go longer distances. Before she was on her own bike, and just riding in the child seat, we'd go 12-16 miles. I'd love to get back to those long rides. But we are going at her pace!

I also have adrenal fatigue, which means my energy is frequently low. But the Ttapp is very gentle, and I can do a little bit even with low energy, and it often helps me gain energy!

I'm here to learn how to make low carbing a way of life, not a diet. I have trouble with lunch especially (I love sandwiches!)

I will stop here, because I don't want to ramble too much, but I think I will start a journal, and I'd love it if you'd read it and comment and encourage me! I look forward to making friends here!

Edit: Here's my journal if you want to be friends! http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/sh...d.php?t=886489

WOE: Vegetarian low carb (+/- 50 carbs/day)
Start Date: Jan 2002 (restarted: 2/21/2017)
Hi everyone!
I am returning to low carbing after 10 years as a vegetarian. The last time I was low carb, I lost 35 pounds (20 of them in 4 1/2 months) and felt really great. But I got into veganism and into the "fat is bad" school of veganism. That and life stress and emotional/binge eating led me not only to gain those 35 pounds back but about 35 more :-(. So I am back to what worked for me the first time.

I am vegetarian, so I won't be doing a very low carb plan (I didn't feel too well on 20 carbs anyway) but I am doing about 55-60 grams a day, so I anticipate I'll still get a lot of benefits (including but not limited to weight loss).

Happy to be back!

Tam

Hi! My name is Ashley and I'm 24. I've done atkins off and on many times, probably about once a year for the past 5 years. In the past I've lost around 20 lbs and quit after hitting a plateau and becoming discouraged. The plan is NOT to do that this time! I started Induction on January 18th and as usual plan to stay on induction for awhile, so it's officially been a month. I started at 180.6 and am down to 173.1. The loss seems to be going much slower this time but I'm trying not to get discouraged. I'm 5'3, my BMI is 30.7. I'm trying to get down to 120 lbs. My hopes for this site (so excited about finding it!) is to get as much information as possible to be sure I'm doing everything right, what to do when things stall, and find inspiration in general. I will not give up this time

Hi
I am new and confused, but trying to stick with it.
I am 41 years young, 5'6 and currently 157lbs. I have been off and on dieting all my life. Over the years, my weight fluctuated from 128lbs up to 175lbs. Tried different things from unhealthy fasting in my 20's, Almased, WW, elimination diet, low carb, some diet pills at some point, exercise (boot camp) etc. I think, if it is out there I tried it!

A little over a year ago I was at 149lbs and decided to get a tummy tuck. My goal was to lose another 5-10lbs after the tummy tuck. So I started exercise and cut out carbs. Tried to get back on Almased a few times and always failed.

So instead of losing 5-10 lbs, I ended up gaining a few and although I have managed to get down to 152lbs a few times, the lbs always come back. Very frustrating. Although, of course it is my own fault!

I had just done a 15 day exercise & meal plan challenge and lost 3 lbs the first week and then gained 4 lbs the second! Ugh! FAIL!!! But exercise for some reason never really worked for me. Even when I was at the boot camp class I would get toned, but always ended up gaining weight. And I am pretty sure it was not all muscle! lol.

So here we are again, now trying a 2 week challenge of LCHF. Let's see how that goes. I am still trying to wrap my mind around eating so much butter, heavy whip cream and all the other stuff I was always told to stay away from. Otherwise, the diet really fits my life style, so hopefully I can stick to it long term and of course drop those few unwanted pounds.

Hello all, I'm new here and have been on and off on low carb eating. Ready to get serious and make it a life style, not a hobby...lol. I just turned 62 and weigh 196 as of today. Started at 201 Jan 3rd and was down to 191 but went on a vacation and my good intentions slipped away. Its hard living with someone who can eat all the carbs they want and not gain. I have HBP, Fibromyalgia, chronic back issues and hypothyroid but believe in my heart that losing weight will improve all of these conditions. I'm going to get busy reading now!!

Hi!! My Mom and I are getting ready to go on the Nutra-bolic/Form 3 diet plan. She found Levels 1, 3, & 4 and I found Level 2 and Meltdown menus by typing Nutra-Bolic and it led me to the Form 3 menu plans. Mom was on the Nutra-bolic plan in the 80's/90's and lost weight. Now since she's found Levels 1, 3, and 4 she wants to try it again. This time I am going to try this with her!!!

Hello Again, Hello!

I officially did the program back in 2005 and was super successful, LOST 150 lbs! I have been eating this way every since with some big differences :

*I stopped moving
*I added wine to my diet...admittedly in excess
*I would sneak a bite here & there - knowing full well it was wrong
*I was not following ALL of the rules, I was eating mainly meat, cheese, and some cooked veggies. I was not eating enough, I don't get enough calories or carbs in a day (w/the exception of wine) So not eating enough. Sounds like it would work out better - but not eating enough hurt me the first time around as well.
*I lost my Love for Myself

I am pleased to find this group again and hope to find the support I truly enjoyed before.

I know what to do, JUST NEED TO DO IT lol

Thanks for listening and the Welcome Back.

Love and Laughter,
Shamrockettes

Welcome back Sharockettes! It is a journey of discovery for all of us. Some are able to keep to the straight and narrow and never deviate for most need to 'realign' at some point or points. Good for you for hoping back!

Low carb -looking for support

Hi Ya'all

My name is Tammy, I am 57 and way overweight. I have lost before working the low carb lifestyle but I get sidetracked and fall away.
I am 100% convinced that this is the healthiest lifestyle for me.

I am hoping to find some kind of encouragement here. My husband of 35 years is less than helpful. Instead of dwelling on the fact that he made homemade Mac and Cheese shortly after I announced that I was going back to low carb, I decided to look for help here.
I have to stay true to myself in spite of what evil is lurking in the fridge.
I think I will join a challenge group as well. I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

hi, Rangefizzy!. It is super super hard to stick to low carb when you have a live-in saboteur! It's hard to say no thank you, but over time he will learn that this is how you eat now. If you give in to the treats, he will learn that you can be manipulated to indulge in whatever he is having! It's hard on our loved ones to learn that you are not their partner in (food) crime any more!

Hi everyone

Hi, I just started LCHF yesterday after many other weight loss attempts over the years... Hoping to make this a lifestyle so it sticks. I'm a tracker given my years on and off weight watchers (and my OCD tendencies!). I'm using a online tracker. I have it set for (of total calories) carbs 15%, protein 25%, and fat 60%. Does that look reasonable? Also: Net carbs or total carbs? I'm aiming for around 50g net and 20g total carbs per day. Which do most of you focus on? Thank you!

Hi all,
My name is MsKay and I'm a recovering carb-aholic. I am 58 years old, single and have 2 cats. I spend most of my time online gaming and am quite active with my guild. So, I already know I need to do exercise, just haven't figured out what method/activity to go towards.

I have been on the keto based diet for going on 2 weeks now. I'm an all or nothing kind of gal. What led me to the discovery of this eating lifestyle was the book called Live It NOT Diet. I love to read including cookbooks and have since then discovered several cookbooks and then this site. I look forward to becoming involved and learning all that I can so that I can succeed in losing the weight (started at 257ish) for health and hey I wouldn't mind the longevity part either.
