Hi all

In March I hit a crisis point of 180 pounds. Not even sure what I was looking for but somehow hit Diet Doctor LCHF diet. I've been pretty much hooked since then. I can't say why it appealed to me but it just did. I haven't been 100% true to it but I found out that eliminating wheat from my diet I feel so much better. I was tested for celiac disease and that came out negative. I've read there are 3 other proteins in wheat that you can be allergic to. I think I must have this Anyway, looking forward to learning from all of you.

Hello, my name is Jess! I've lost 57 pounds eating LCHF in this last year and a half (I haven't been awesome at sticking to it, but I'm still happy with my results and I'm still trying!). I am looking to lose about 100 more.

I work LCHF Monday through Friday with a bit of IFing if my body feels like it, and I do A '72 induction on the weekends (and IF if I feel like it, of course).

I'm excited to join these forums! This seems like a pretty great place. Nice to meet you all

Also, I'm 50 now and I think that is making it more difficult to lose weight.
Welcome! Planning ahead has been my best strategy. That means planning my meals and/or just having on hand keto food. I use to carry 'emergency' foods like macadamia nuts, coconut butter, etc. for those times that didn't go as planned. Being 50 means that you are likely more insulin resistant and that does make weight loss harder but not impossible.

Welcome! I think the way they test for celiac's is often very flawed. I had a co-worker who was suffering a ton of symptoms and becoming sicker and sicker. They had done the blood test and it was negative. Eventually they did a scope and biopsy and sure enough - celiac's was the diagnosis. It took her at least 1 year to feel well again.

Welcome! Most people come to l/c for weight loss. I did. I have since learned of the myriad of other health benefits and that is what keeps me here. Besides the fact I love the way I get to eat and feel!!

Newbie

Hello!

This is my first day on the site! I am 5'5", 47 years old and just got back from a cruise and stepped on the scales weighing in at 180. The most I ever weighed was 184 in my 9th month of pregnancy with all 3 of our kids. I can't believe I have let myself get this heavy.

I started the Adkins diet a week ago and am already down 5 pounds. I have a 30 year reunion coming up and want to look good at it!

Thank you for all of the help from this site!

Restarting

I did Atkins about 15 years ago and lost weight but then fell off the wagon. I am now in Week 8 of a new start and have lost 15 pounds, from 168 to 153, on a 5' 9" frame, so getting close to Atkins chart recommendation. I stopped the statin and got a cholesterol panel done right away and will get another next month and compare.

I recently started a small iMessage group, with all members having someone in their lives besides themselves who needs help. We knew we had to first set an example in order to be able to encourage others. When I was in low carb before, I didn't get into the health much but now that is the most important thing for me. Now helping others has become the ultimate mission.

As to my own experience, if it proves anything it's that you are never too old. And you can never be too healthy. The results for me in two months have been amazing: energy, attitude, clothes fitting. I though maybe if I lost 5-10 pounds I'd be fine. But I lost 15 and am trimmer but still not lean. I'm eating LCHF and the hunger is gone. I want encouragement from the site but my real goal is to help others, one person at a time.

Introducing myself

Hello low carbers. I am a carbohydrate addict. I have begun my low carb journey February 25th 2017.. I have begun at 171 pounds. I am 5'3" and had a waist of 38 1/2". Well I am now down to 143 pounds and a waist of 31". I feel I am doing pretty good!! But it is a new life style for me and I do not ever plan on going back to how I ate before. It's hard cuz I love love carbs but I have to do this!! Diabetes and heart disease runs in my family and I was considered obese according to doctor.. Now I am simply over weight.😜

Hi everyone! I hit my goal a little over 2 years ago with low carb. 7/2016 I was dismissed with cancer. I had surgery 2 1/2 months later (4th one in less than 1 year) I had a complete hysterectomy. The cancer was completely contained. But the recuperation took a lot longer than they predicted. Now after a bit of Physical therapy I'm trying to regain muscle tone, I couldn't even stand up from a squat on my own. PT was for muscle strength and they discovered my pelvis/ hip was miss aligned from an incident back in 1989! So now with my hip pain almost completely resolved, I'm working on the PT exercises and trying to stay low carb motivated into my fourth year of this life style.
I admire the ppl on exercise thread. Right now I'm working on fault goals and hope to start weekly goals for wl and exercise.

Welcome NightOwl....There's no rule requiring you to do a specific plan. I actually do a combination of a lot of things. I'm healthy and happy and that is all that matters to me.

Just joined. I've always done low cal and it used to work, but it's not working well any more. Heard many success stories on low carb so I'm giving that a good try. Only started on July 1st. Don't trust myself to just eat low carb and not go too high in calories so I aim for 1300 cals/50g carbs. One day a week I go higher cals but not higher carbs.

I'm 65 and I work out faithfully and I'm retired so no excuses!
