I was traveling last week and only got in one session of 10/10. Need to get back on the horse this week! I've noticed that if I am not doing my Callanetics regularly my back pain starts to come back. It definitely has been a miracle cure for me. I must have similar issues to what Callan had. When she says to curl up even more than you think you can it really releases my back. For some reason the newer videos don't help as much with my back. I guess we are all different

Oops! Well, at least you know Callanetics is there for the rescue!

It's my opinion that Callan says subtle little things, or has an approach to Callanetics that none of the other instructors have, because she had to heal herself to such a large degree. She has that clear understanding beyond the fitness level of what Callanetics is doing for the body. Yes, it's marketed as a strengthening/thinning exercise, but it's so much more! It has helped me with so many health issues, along with helping work through emotional times, I've lost count.

Yep, I get it! Can't explain it in words but I "see" what you are saying. I have been doing many of the newer workouts but I think I will go back to the basics. I heard something new in 10/10 last week but can't remember what it was now. Whatever it was it was mind blowing and changed what I was doing. I know that sounds weird but there is something unexplainable going on here

Finally was brave enough to do all 3-20 minute Quick Callanetics to equal one hour. I bought a used fluidity bar to use for the barre exercises because I wasn't comfortusing my furniture.

Hour 6 last night. I guess it's technically an hour since I'm doing 3 -20 minute quick Callanetics sessions. I'm considering switching to the full original video next month but don't want to get discouraged if I can't complete it.

You'll get to a point where your expectations of yourself are not in comparison to anyone else, and that is the most freeing experience ever!

If you decide to go for the full 10/10, I'd suggest just pulsing until you feel even the slightest amount of burn or strain, then move onto the next exercise. Truly, it doesn't matter if you can't do it all, but what I find people do is push themselves in the first few exercises and then burn themselves out, instead of doing a bit of each exercise the best of their ability.

Remember, Callanetics is about quality, not quantity!

Thank you for such a great explanation. I think that's a good idea, doing some of everything and build my endurance. I am feeling more confident with every session, which is to me the whole premise of exercising, in addition to my health. I really appreciate your advice!

I've been moving this body more and more in various moment throughout the day. Like when I'm just sitting by the river or canal, or when I'm standing, waiting for something. I'm just listening to my body's wants and needs and going with it. It's nice!

Guess what I did? A REAL hour of original Callanetics! The fear of not being able to do it was the biggest obstacle. With the exception of not doing most of the 3rd stomach exercise with both legs raised (I did 25) I was able to do all of it. I still have trouble sitting on my knees but got through it. Now, I may be weak as water during Hour 7 on Friday, but at least I know it can be done!

Woo hoo!!! Good for you!

For those knees of yours, remember, sitting up a little higher off your calves will make the exercise a little to a lot easier on them. Adjust yourself up and down until you find the spot where you find you're not having so much trouble with your knees and yet are still exercising them and your thighs.

I'm about to do my own session of 10/10 this early morn.

Sorry...I was half asleep when I typed that. I spread my knees further apart so they wouldn't pull so much. It's not knee pain but more that I'm still tight. I also get foot cramps if I sit on my heels too much. Thank you for asking!

I'm assuming we're talking about the pelvic rotations here? Having your knees together can actually support your knees more. I would first try sitting up higher, like 6" off the heels. The lower you are the more difficult the exercise. The second thing I'd do is, ease off on how large your rotation is. If after that you need to separate your knees and that works for you, great, go with it, but try the other things first. I say this, because changing the position of your knees, also changes how your muscles are working, and where it's working.

I have noticed that kneeling on a thick yoga mat helps, or one of those knee things that you get for gardening that have a handle on one side...

The two pelvic exercises are hard for me; it feels like I'm using only my front thigh muscles. I'm all about modification so I'll take your advice when I exercise again on Friday and let you know.
