Michelle, glad you're better.

Dimply, the baby pics make me melt.

Good thoughts for everyone!

As for me, I'm down another lb. Happy dance

All woe are welcome. We are a very supportive group. Everyone has their own tweaks for every woe. But you might want to also check the nutritional ketosis area under eating plans...

Enjoying my coffee, miss Violet just left for gramma greats till the afternoon. My mom gets the most exercise on Wednesdays when vortex Violet comes over to tear apart her house. So now I have to find something to do with myself so I don't waste this time. Haven't made it very far on that front. The clock is a tickin' and I'm pouring more coffee....

Stayed on track last night, might have shrimp for dinner. I'll check back in on ya'll later.

I can feel the bloat from the weekend/travel going down. Hopefully the scale will be nice Friday.

Thanks for the compliments on my pic! I feel so self-conscious posting ones of me, but Hazel is so stinkin' cute with her big head that I couldn't resist.

Love the picture of you and your kitty!

Like Michelle said, all plans are welcome here. I follow Atkins 1992 which is a keto plan, in that you stay in ketosis during weight loss. But I have seen other plans that bill themselves as keto that allow things like almond/coconut flour, nuts, pickles, and other things not on the Atkins 1992 Induction foods list. I also do IF & eat one meal a day which is not Atkins at all. Dr. Atkins said not to go more than 6 waking hours without eating something, but once ketosis hits I am not hungry at all.

yesterday:
B - coffee w/cream & DaVincis
D - chicken breast sauteed in butter; salad w/lettuce, cheese, bacon, green goddess dressing

Didn't get much sleep last night. Makes me cranky. Maybe I can nap later when Violet does. Got rid of the rest of the water bloat and down a few more ounces to boot. That makes me happier for the day. Dug the double doors out yesterday so I could drag them in and get an idea of how big of a hole I'm knocking in this wall and just wanted to make sure they will look right. One has to go in for a pane replacement, no biggie. Have a couple more prep things to do before I can beat up a wall, have to take the shelving out of the closet and take off baseboards. As tired as I am if I make it through that I'll be happy. Gonna go grab the last list. I never miss a chance to mark it down!

all, everyone is keeping on keeping on, which is the definition of doing well! Michelle, sorry you're so tired but glad the sickness is better.

Thank you all for the cheers! We have some family stuff going on now so I may be scarce for a bit, but no worries. May we all have a good week!

Good Morning!

Happy Friday!

Scale was up a lb., but I am not going to change my stats. We had sausage for dinner last night, and my fingers are so swollen that I can barely bend them, much less put on my wedding band & engagement ring, so I think it's mostly water. What annoys me is that this means I gained in NOLA, and all I ate off plan were a few forkfuls of hummus and a cappuccino. So next time I am going to eat what I want and not turn anything down. If I am going to gain, I am going to at least have fun doing it. On the good side, I'm down 2"

No big plans for the weekend. Going to get my errands run today - manicure, Whole Foods, Target, and I have to return a sweater to Lane Bryant that I ordered to go with a dress that I am wearing to a wedding in a couple of weeks. It is too much for the fit & flair style of the dress & it overwhelms my 5'2" self. I found a bolero style jacket that goes much better.

Michelle - Congrats on getting rid of the water bloat plus some. Your house is going to be awesome when it is all done! Glad you're feeling better.

jess - Sorry all of your loss didn't stick, but some did, so that is great! Where you're at now is pretty much my goal for this challenge!

Plum - Good luck with the family stuff. Hope it all works out.

Mick - How is your back?

FindingMe - How's it going? Ready for vacation?

yesterday:
B - coffee w/cream & DaVincis
D - sausage dipped in mayo & mustard

Morning everyone!

Plum, I hope things get better for you and yours!

Congrats Jess and Michelle on your losses!

Welcome Purrcy's Mom! I do an IF/KETO hybrid. I'm not really that concerned about ketosis as long as the scale moves, but I'm in it most of the time because I stay 8-10% carbs all from veggies.

Dimply - You look so tiny! Which is kind of funny since you have a baby in the picture with you....if I were in there, you would look microscopic!!! You carry your weight much better than I do at your weight and I'm about 5 inches taller than you. You look marvelous!!!

Mick - I hope your back is feeling much better!!! I like seeing you say nothing exciting is happening because you are ALWAYS doing something exciting. You probably need a little rest!!!

I'm happy to report that Project Roast has been good for my scale numbers. I've lost a little each day since I threw out the chicken and am down another 2 lbs. I've also been running around a bunch more getting ready for the trip so I'm not ready to claim the numbers. My scale is packed after this morning's weigh in, but I'll probably leave it in the SUV and skip the weighing for a while. I still plan to stay on IF and low carb as much as possible while away. I know there will be the usual travel bloat from being on the road so much, but I hope all the hiking will counteract anything that accumulates.

Good news is that it has been snowing/raining where I'm going so the fires should be much better. I'm so excited although I'm not used to driving in the snow so it will be a challenge for this southern belle. I might not get another chance to get on before I leave Sunday, but I'll check on y'all when I can. I don't know how good the internet connection or my data plan will be in the mountains so Y'ALL BEHAVE!!!

Talk soon and have a great one!!!

Painting with Violet right now. But really have no plans for the rest of the day. Might get some ceiling repair done when she goes down for a nap. Other than that I'm on plan. No drop today, no gain either, that's all good. Maybe I'll wander over to the cottage and try to make myself useful. Got plenty of energy today, feel good, better find something to do till dd1 leaves for work. So I'll check in later.

Hi Guys!
So sorry I have not been around -- work has been crazy busy!
Dimply, you look gorgeous! Congrats on the weight loss
FindingMe, Plum, Jess, Michelle and Mick, you guys are doing great too. So happy for all of you!
Purrcy's Mom: I love your white kitty!

We are transitioning seasons here in Boston but it is still warm and a bit muggy (early 70s) so I am holding to the outdoor grille with dear life. But, with this season comes my craving for comfort food recipes. I found an old-time recipe for chicken hash from the 21 Club which is essentially chicken breasts poached in chicken broth and served with a Mornay sauce (sherry, cream, Gruyere cheese, nutmeg, pinch of nutmeg) and sautéed spinach. Also digging up some good recipes for Cognac Beef Stew, Low Carb Beef Wellington, Chicken Stuffed Peppers, etc. I will be back later with some recipes.

Yay for Friday! Hope everyone has a great weekend! xo

Found myself wandering into the kitchen last night. Turned around and left. Got up went to the bathroom and on autopilot headed for the kitchen. I've slept ate before. It's been awhile since it happened. And it used to happen during sleep walking, we don't think the purpose was ever to eat it just happened sometimes when I was sleepwalking. DH has caught me in the middle of the night sitting at my computer on the desk, computer is off, screen dark and I'm typing away. Then I got up and went back to bed. I've made it outside too I guess. That scared me when he told me the next morning. But the worst is waking up in the morning and finding spoons in bed with me. And the fridge door wide open in the kitchen. So that kinda freaked me out last night. Cause I'm not sure I was awake until I got that one step into the kitchen. It felt like I just woke and found myself there. There's no other evidence I was eating before that. For a few years we actually thought one of the kids must be hungry at night cause no adult would leave the kitchen looking like that. Cause sleep eaters are messy. Every single cabinet will be left open. It's really freaky to get up in the morning and dam near every cabinet is standing open in the kitchen. Poltergeist moment at 7 am and all you want is to make coffee. Anything I got out of the fridge was left right there on the counter after I made whatever I was making. Also find the dirty spoons in really weird places like in the towel drawer. And a plate in the silverware. Food and utensils in the bed or the bathroom. And plates of food in the microwave. Weird food too, one was lettuce with jelly and slices of pepperoni, in the microwave. Good grief im thankful that when we would find food in the microwave that I didn't eat what I had made. As far as we know it's been over a year since I sleptwalk. But DH doesn't always wake up. But there's been no evidence. Anyways hopefully I was awake the whole time. I dropped 1.6 this morning, so my hard work is paying off.

Crickets in here today. Hope you all are off doing something really fun. End of summer hurrahs! Stuck to plan today, got lots of work done. Tired and a bit sore now. More work tomorrow, think I will get started very leisurely though.

Michelle, congratulations on your weight loss! That is awesome. Glad you are okay after sleepwalking. That is a little scary.

Made a good recipe yesterday that I want to share with you guys -- a low carb version of Bang Bang Chicken and Shrimp. If you guys like Asian or Thai food, you might like it -- it's from the Cheesecake Factory, which, I know, is notorious for high calorie and high carb offerings. This is my low carb version of the dish, which is essentially chopped chicken breast, jumbo shrimp and fresh sautéed vegetables in a coconut curry peanut sauce. It is really good, easy to make and relatively low in carb -- plus it satisfies the craving for Asian/Thai food. Here's how you do it:

First, cut up chicken breast (I used 1 pound) and cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees. I bought already-cooked jumbo shrimp at the fish market but if you're buying frozen or uncooked, you will need to peel and saute in vegetable oil until they are done and set aside.
Saute your choice of fresh veggies in 1 TBS of vegetable oil in a very large pot (I used zucchini, red bell pepper, green beans and a little onion -- one zucchini, one pepper and a fistful of green beans and a sprinkle of onions will do -- some folks use broccoli, a little carrot, etc.). Cook the veggies for 5 minutes. Add 3/4 tablespoon of curry powder (I like it spicy so I used 2 heaping TBS of red curry paste instead), salt and pepper to the veggies. Add one large (14 oz) can of coconut milk, 1 or 2 TBS of Splenda Brown Sugar (I like it less sweet) and 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter (I use all natural peanut butter for the lower carb count) and stir until combined. Let the sauce and veggies simmer for at least 5 minutes. Add cooked chicken and shrimp to the mix. Stir well. (You can top or garnish this with chopped peanuts and green onions - I don't but that is an option to make it look pretty).

I serve this plain but it would go well with cauliflower rice! I have also made this without shrimp and it was great. I think pork would work nicely too.

I love bang bang shrimp. And I came across a recipe for bang bang corn on the cob. So we made it on one of our camping trips this summer, it was amazing. Everyone keeps bugging me for it again. But I don't want to tempt myself with that sugar loaded sauce. And staying away from fake sugar, they'd kill me if I tried to serve them Splenda. But I agree, it's amazing!

I have another birthday dinner I have to do somewhere around the 7th of oct. dd2 is turning 17. Good grief. These girls and college, growing up and having a full house with boyfriends hanging here. This crazy funny house, I think in just a year maybe 2 at the most, this house is going to be empty except for DH and I. We've wished for that day, don't get me wrong, we wish for it multiple times a day sometimes, especially when the house has pms. but I can see the future on the horizon and I am going to be one very sad empty nester. I'm sure hoping Violet will be next door. Or I think I will be inconsolable, I don't even want her a mile down the road.

I'm sore today. Didn't think I did enough to be sore, it's the back of my thighs. I must have done something different. Held a couple extra oz's this morn too. I assume due to sore muscles.

Good job Gail keeping the menus fresh and cool! Cause bang bang is very cool!

The rest of you come check in so I can live vicariously through you

Hi everyone! Hope you all have been having a good weekend. Lots of kayaking here and a little get away with friends. Im still up a bit of steroid weight and might now make the weigh in tomorrow for the contest.

I applies for a higher position at a different school. We shall see what happens. Love my coworker and the little kids but this position would have a lot less lifting. Positions are awarded bu senority so it depends on if anyone with higher senority wants it. I think it would be a better fit long term and there is more room to try other positions there. In my school I can only do mine or take over the heads when she retires. I know I dont want that job even though I have to step into it frequently. Fingers crossed! My position is short handed in all the elementarys hence getting sent into other schools last year to fill in for the leads so they hate to let us transfer!

I have few shirts that fit that didnt previously. I didnt save a lot of smaller stuff. Just a few in smaller sizes that I really liked. Its nice to find smaller things fit since the scale is being a butt!!

Has anyone tried the Body Groove dance? I think it looks fun and am on the fence.

Dimply my back is felling normal again Thanks for asking. Congrats on losing two inches! That is what really counts!!!! I bet your outfit will look fab!

Gail its great to see you pop in! Im sorry to hear work has been so hectic. That chicken recipe sounds so good!!!Im sure going to try it. I hope work eases up a bit for you soon!

Michelle congrats on the loss! The sleepwalking sound scary. Im so glad you are fine. I hope the soreness goes away soon. Oh dodnt sweat the empty nest. Trust me they come back My oldest was back a few times and the 21 year old is back now. That corn sounds really interesting!!!

Love kayaking. It's been a couple years can't wait to go again. Good luck on the transfer. It sounds like a better position for you.

Got one side of the drywall put up. It's tough matching everything up with plaster and lathe. We will get the inside of that wall, the inside of the closet tomorrow. Then I can start patching and repairing, while we wait for the replacement glass to be put in.

Steak tonight. Not hungry yet. Holding off, yesterday was a disaster eating early. Watching football. Time to rest, yay!

Decisions, Decisions

Good morning! I am so not looking forward to telling my oh so nice coworker I applied for that position. She said before she would understand but still cry. She had been short for a long time before I came and that makes her job so much harder

I did some very hard thinking about trying to lose weight over the weekend since its slow as molasses as far as actual numbers go. I decided I am going back to carb nite in full again and follow the guidelines. None of it seems to make a difference in my rate of loss and I feel more energetic and less neutotic about eating.I was doing my spikes the first half or the year and things were better. I also am slipping into some bad mental habits with good and bad food and trying to restrict or go hungry to get the scale to move. I know Ive mentioned before my fear of ending up like my mom where my whole world is my number on the scale and my diet!

Im also going back to only weghing Saturday mornings. I am getting too odd about this stuff! I actually contemplated buying water pills before the weigh in tomorrow for the contest. Now that is really stupid. For heavens sake my belt needs a new notch no mater what the scale says so even thinking that way is pure insanity and not healthy. I had to go to the middle hook on all the new bras I bought not long ago. So why does a number matter to me on a scale? Im getting way to hung up on numbers instead of what my clothes say. Hence the changes mentioned above. Im going to just trust my body to find balance and do what it needs too!

I also will not be reading any other diet related posts or things besides our challenge. That leads me to trying things that work for others even thought I know what works for me. Ok back to the mindset of if I cant do it forever its not worth doing becuase I will never maintain it. Not saying those things are crazy for others because the work well for them. Its just crazy for me to keep trying things to lose faster when I know what works for me.

Whew that was long! I just needed to put that in print.

FINDINGME I think this is your trip time if I got it right. Have a fabulous time!!!

MICHELLE you sure are a handy and busy lady! I hope the rest of the project goes smoothly for you. MMMM steak sounds good!

Mick ~ I think it's always good to change things up. But I really think it's a good idea if you notice some wonky behaviors or thinking going on. You sat back to a look at it all in a big picture kinda way and said "oh no! This is gettin' off the tracks". And I think that's a great thing to recognize. That awareness will serve you well in maintenance. We all want it quicker and sure get caught up in that. Kudos to you!

And good luck on the job. Should you tell your coworker? Maybe not unless you actually get the job? It's an option, not to. Until you know....

Down a couple ounces, not even going to bother changing the list for that. Did so much better eating my dinner later like usual.
I'm thinking next week is the start of the red fairy visiting this house. I have to ask the girls. Cause I know I'll have some cramping too and I never lose weight that week. But when you don't have the physical output shall we say you totally forget when it would be. It always sneaks up on me. Never know till I'm cranky and have ovarian cramps. Or one of the girls rips my head off or goes running crying through the house with a door slam at the end.

The kids brought home the plague. Achy cold with severe faucet nose. I'm stuck pecking on the tablet since my laptop has decided to be a jerk. So not much energy to do more than read. Typing on this thing is a headache and I already have enough of that right now.

I'll be off snooping around here.
