I've done this BFC diet for 10 weeks now and am down 10 pounds. Some weeks I lost more than others, but have averaged a 10 pound loss in 10 weeks. Yes, I had to modify my diet some..sticking to a 15/6 ratio between the sugars/carbs takes some changes, but trust me by the middle of week one it becomes second nature. The biggest shock for me on this program is how much sugar is lurking in normal foods....ahhhhh, 11 grams in a glass of milk? So once you figure out what you can and can't have, what you will subtitute...it is a very easy, non complicated plan....I love it. It's been one of the only diets that has actually kicked my butt back into gear where i actually am seeing some loss. I've never done Atkins...but was a WW queen...I hit a plateau and it didn't matter what i tried....upping my workouts, eating exactly to plan etc...I just couldn't budge it...this BFC diet has given me hope to once again get down to a healthy BMI.....

Just starting

Hi to you all... I am reading the postings from over the last year..Getting ready to begin..I have ordered the book and it should be here Mon.or Tues.
I have been on and off Atkins and WW over the years and have lost and gained the same weight over and over again..Its time to do it before more gets on my body..I have noticed that with age more and more weight stays on the stomach. Years ago it was all over and now its all in the stomach area..I need to do it and this sounds like a plan I will enjoy.Once I figure it out that is..

I just started yesterday.
I have not gotten the book yet. I have been just reading a few blogs, some very successful.
So far I am doing OK. I just think I am a bit too high on sugar. For example yesterday my S/C was 20/6, today with planned dinner it is 19/4. The reason for high numbers are that I had Fage's yogurts 2% both days which is 8/1. I am going to cut for tomorrow.

Good morning.
I had a good day yesterday. Drank lots of water and had S/C right on the dot 15/6, lol. The only difference I made was that I had 1/2 container of Fage's yogurts. This morning I am rewarded with another pound loss.

Hello Stephanie. Welcome.

Have you found Amber’s blog (meandjorge.com) yet? That is how I got interested in BFC. She has lost 50 pounds so far. Anyhow, she has posted wealth of information on her blog. Her blog is very motivating.

Also she just posted a link to the recipe for the cauliflower pizza crust
examiner.com/x-355-Low-Carb-Examiner~y2008m6d4-Cauliflower-Pizza-Crust-Worth-its-Wow-in-Gold

If you want to know how to make rice cauliflower checkout this blog
Diary of a Modern Matriarch: Cauliflower Pizza Crust

There are actually varieties of this recipe around on the web. Some decided to add coconut flour, some have added almond meal flour, and some added flax meal. I think I am going to add a bit of flax meal for fiber. The people who had added coconut or almond reported that the pizza felt very dry.

Anyhow, I am going to give this a try either Friday or on the Weekend, hopefully it would be good.

Hi and thanks for the welcome! Yes, I did find her blog, thank you! I've made the cauliflower pizza before, and it's very good! It really gives "regular" pizza a run for its money, in my humble opinion!

I'd very much like to know the ages of those of you this program is working for. I have been successfully living low carb for years. I knew I could splurge certain days because all i had to do was stick to the plan and I would be okay. But since I turned 49 I can't seem to do that any more, and my waist is thicker than it's ever been. I'm trying the 6-Week Cure for the Middle Aged Middle, and it seems to be working, but I'm going to have to change my way of eating after the 6 weeks.

So...if you don't mind telling...how old are (all of) you?

I'm 61 and haven't started the plan yet, but have the 3 books ordered and plan to start Sept 6 after returning from a vacation. Hopefully by that time I will have done lots of reading and know what I'm doing. I've done low carb many times in the past and find that I do lose well on it to a certain point, but then get stalled 20 or so pounds from goal, get discouraged and then slowly start putting the pounds back on. Guess after losing 60-100 pounds 6 or more times, you could say I've got the losing part figured out, but have flunked the maintaining part many times. I really don't want to have to eat 30 or fewer gm. carbs a day for the rest of my life. I'm hoping this plan will help me learn how to enjoy carbs and still reach my weight loss goals. We will see. I think for now, I'm going to work on cutting out the Splenda, equal ect as well as cutting back on the sugar.

I am planning on starting this tomorrow. Studied the book over the weekend and I'm really glad I bought the book that has alot of the foods listed along with the BFC. I went to two grocery stores tonight and didn't find alot of the foods which surprises me so I have two others to check out - I might just have to order online. Being prepared is always the biggest thing. I'm the heaviest I have ever been, that include two pregnancies and with heart disease in my family, I need to get rid of my biggest problem area, the stomach.

Hi Ladies....I've also started this program today....had the book for couple of months ..so with you all i'm giving it a try...i'm at a stand still when it comes to my weight and need a change in my eating habits ....

I've done calorie counting and still do and portion control and some Atkins but not for long..can't keep my carbs as low as some...but with the BFC i find to be reasonable

Let's have a good journey on this new way of eating...

I started the bfc today. I've had the book for several months... just can't seem to go really low carb right now. This seems to have a lot more flexibility.

I've subscribed, does that count? I should see if this will help with my GD - gestational diabetes. I'm doing really good on it already just wanted to make some recipes.

At least you're staying "within" and it's lower than before.

My GD readings are perfect! It's just that I'm getting "bored" with the foods that I have to eat and that's why I wanted to make some of his recipes too see if I stay in my GD range. I've already looked some over and we don't have ALL of the ingredients some call for.

....been doing lousy the last couple of days...i've seem to be hungry all the time...i've got no problem getting down with the sugars but the carbs are still my biggest problem...i would need to eat more carbs that has a lot more diary fibers so it would feel me up for longer...so i'm still working at it, i still think it's best way to go...with a lot of variety of food...just have to pick them right...

How's everybody else doing..

I got the book from the library yesterday, so I'm already starting my research. I'm looking forward to actually adding a few carbs to my diet!

WOE: Keto Diet
I'm starting at 10PM tonight! I work nights, so that's when my day starts. Will get starting weights and measurements done then. I don't like to cook so have been doing some planning on minimal cooking meals. This morning I had a microwavable sausage pattie wrapped in 1/2 low carb tortilla and topped with hot sauce. Cooked 1.5 minutes in the microwave and it was ready to eat. Might precooked some scrambled egg patties and freeze them to add to it next time.

Another fast no cook breakfast I have planned is:

2 oz Applegate Turkey Breast=12gm protein, 0 carbs and 0 sugar
3/4 cup Uncle Sams cold cereal= 38 gm carb less that 1 gm sugar and 7 gm protein
1 cup So Delicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk= 1gm carb, 0 gm sugar

For snacks to take to work, I picked up some :

Deerfield Turkey Sticks, the 12" ones:=1 gm carb 1 gm sugar and 9 gm protein
Ryvita Rye Crispbreads: 2 slices=17 gm carb, 1 gm sugar, 2 gm Protein

We have a nice salad bar at work and I plan to get a big salad with lots of low carb vegetables and take along a foil pkg. of either salmon or turkey or add the Applegate Roasted Turkey Breast. I like to make my own dressing from vinegar, salt free seasoning, lemon juice and Stevia. The cafeteria also sometimes has plain protein like baked fish, roast beef or chicken breast and those days, I will eat that along with a smaller salad and steamed vegetables if they have them.

Last meal a day at home in the mornings will probably be something fast. I have found some canned soups and frozen dinners that fit the plan. That along with some low carb bread or crackers and maybe 1/4 cup blueberries sounds easy and fast. Other options I'm thinking of would be cottage cheese with Uncle Sam's, Greek yogurt topped with blueberries, Steamed vegetables topped with cheese or some protein wrapped in half a low carb tortilla with some raw veggies.

Overall, this is not all that far from the way I'm eating now, so think it's something I could live with. Please share you daily menus with me and any easy fast recipes you come up with.

Susan

Even though I haven't official started, I made tried out a hot cereal recipe for lunch that I think will become one of my favorite meals.

1/2 cup Uncle Sam Cereal
2 lg eggs
1/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk or almond breeze
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 Pkg Stevia

Mix well with a fork in a glass bowl. Microwave 1 minute. Stir, then microwave another minute and let set a minute or so. Ends up nice and moist and tastes like hot cereal. Good replacement for oatmeal this winter.
